Absolutely. Compensation is HUGE. Sounds like they released Kobe based on the strenght integrity of the surgery and not the asymmetry the injury caused. He was released too soon.

Everyone is scared to be called Derrick Rose, taking a year to come back, when the reality is that sometimes ya need a year.

RG3 had no business playing.  Kobe had no business playing.

Kobe was just given 48 million for the next 2 years.  Unreal.   And watch... kobe will rush back in 7 weeks, and it'll be hip or foot problems next as his body tries to compensate.

that leg needs 9 months of healing, his going to go all out on it.

i wish him the best cause i hate when people get hurt, but this wont end well.

he wants to pass jordan in the scoring list.

he should go for 45 pts a game and lose so they can have the 1st pick in draft..i hear this draft is full of stars.

boom!

correct.

lakers will draft andrew wiggins, the next Durant.

 End Kobe's Season?

ESPN Stephen A. Smith discusses whether Lakers guard Kobe Bryant should sit out for the remainder of the season. He says the team is thinking about it?

Ok just for arguments sake....there are pros and cons for sitting out.

first of all I'm not going to a laker game if kobe is not playing. love him loathe him, it would be great to watch him play in real life once (atleast) you guys in LA or anywhere in the US are lucky.

the Lakers charge a lot for game tickets, there sponsors, TV deals revolve around kobe...that's a rotten deal for everyone.

I think if his capable of playin he should play, even if its just for the fans, not just laker fans, but NBA fans from other teams, people pay to watch him when he comes to town... players like him are a dying breed, enjoy him while he lasts.
if they shut him down I feel for Lakers ticketholders, they would never have paid for that just to see gasol and whoever else is on that team.

But I really believe its over.... His not getting any younger and he could take 3 years off, his age(now or next year) and him going against 23 yr olds is not going to end well. I really feel this guy should of retired. He will heal, but he WILL keep getting injured, Not everyone retires a winner, Jordan retired as a fucken wizard.. but we forgive mike, so just act like that push off shot against Utah was his last shot. (you cant fool me ESPN and NIKE)
I would pay to watch Kobe, I would not watch Carmelo for free.

The good part is, its a good season to tank. Great draft.

I do have a feeling kobe is going to end his career playing so hard just to barely make 8th seed. He wont walk away after the 2 year deal, he wants another ring badly and I respect that. But not with his body, mileage, coach, and all that stuff it takes to grind a win out in 7 games, no chance. Back to the topic, since he did commit to contract he should play if he feels he can. Why the fuck else would you watch the lakers? for Xavier henry's ball handling skills?

This NBA season is epic in the sense that about 75% of the teams are tanking to get into the lottery. It's actually retarded to watch the games this season. The Celts are trying to tank as hard as anybody but are still the 3 or 4 seed in the east. They need to try harder.

I've been saying for a long time that Kobe should not rush back to this team.  They are going nowhere, especially with the west so strong right now.  Outside of Gasol they don't have one legitimate NBA starter on the roster.  Also, they have zero point guards healthy.  Why be in a hurry to come back to this?  I say, wait and see what the front office does in the off season, get a full training camp under your belt and make one more run at a chip.  They should have tanked this season but the Laker organization has too much pride to do that.

the only one I have seen come back fast and not get hurt was AP in the NFL     and even now, he is starting to break down     he had youth on his side   kobe does NOT

240 is right... kobe is going to suffer even worse injuries trying to rush back from the torn achilles and broken knee    all in the same leg too

Please put all Lakers stuff here.  We've had up to ten or so threads going about the team, Kobe's latest info, etc.

Kevin Love's line yesterday:  45 points, 19 rebounds, 6 assists.  Averaging 25.9 points, 13.9 rebounds, and 4.2 assists for the season.  This is the guy my Lakers should target in 2015.

So he goes for 26, 14, and 4 primarily through three quarters?  I'll take it.  Other than LeBron, there will not be a better FA available over the next two years.
