Spot on.

It's ridiculous though that the chinese took out the heart of love, yet put "friend" into it.  :-[
Oh..... :'(
Thats a severe opinion. ;D

Uh...actually Japanese Kanji is simply a reuse of Chinese characters. The Chinese invented it. (And the Chinese invented almost everything significant prior to the 1900's. It's only modern China that's lagging)

It might read "ai". A popular manga/anime character (Gaara) has that tattooed on his forehead.

Any of the japanese posters.... has the book "Ken no seishinshi: Mujushin kenjutsu no keifu to shiso (Nomado sosho)" ever been translated into english? Dying to read it.

The Japanese use the same kanji for love as the Chinese. I know that "ai shiteru" or "愛してる" is "I love you" in Japanese. And "wo ai ni" or "我爱你" is the Chinese (Mandarin) way of saying "I love you".

I used to study Japanese because my grandma worked with exchange students so I always grew up with someone Japanese in my household. I love the Japanese culture but don't know if I want to start studying it again or learn Mandarin. BAH!!
