the 2 party system has been a failure for years...
there are at least 6 real parties in power right now

Electing the most powerful person of the free world comes down to 2 choices. Choosing Miss America comes down to 50 choices. Go figure.

I wouldn't even go that far. Honestly I'd suggest that it's different but most importantly that it provides a better voice for the people.
But corporate influence is still an issue.

The big difference is that despite corporate influence, politicians will a least beat a hasty retreat when it's clear the majority of the public are against their actions or proposals (hence the ironic and contradictory actions of ON's education minister) but in the USA, it seems to be a case of "This is what we want, and by golly come hell or high water, we're going to go this route regardless of what the public wants." Picture poor widdle Georgey boy all alone with only Barney by his side. :'(
Or maybe it's just a matter of politicians beating a hasty retreat only when they feel there is a chance the public will remember their actions in the next election. I've noticed, the closer the election, ...the hastier the retreat. :-\

I might have been able to stomach Ford a little more if I thought he was at least sincere in some of his beliefs but it was so painfully clear he was simply pandering to the homophobe demograpic in an attempt to garner votes.

I don't think any President that erodes our civil liberties is on ANY level, one of the best... He's not one of the worst either, but he's just not one of the best... He's definitely middle of the road.

if you look at his list of achievements for just one term, they are pretty awesome...it all gets lost because he doesn't tout himself and because people try to destroy him because of his race

LOL, Sorry 333, I don't do bikini shots, ...but not to worry, I'm sure kim kardasian will probably be posing them, even all throughout her pregnancy. ;D

Who do you think was the best?
The best President of all time? I'd probably say it's down to Washington, Lincoln, FDR, or Jefferson (For the Louisiana purchase alone).
if you look at his list of achievements for just one term, they are pretty awesome...it all gets lost because he doesn't tout himself and because people try to destroy him because of his race
Has he done things he wanted to do? Yes... no doubt... Of which some I get, but if you don't see the renewal of the Patriot act, the signing of the Defense Spending Bill, and him now using these killing to further and anti-second amendment bill, because that's really what it is you know... ANTI-CONSTITUTION.
So on those marks, I put him much further down the list than some of the GREATEST Presidents that tried to expand freedom and provide liberty for their constituents.

On any level has Obama done ANYTHING even REMOTELY as great?
Uh... no.
So now you're trolling right?

Washington - because when they begged him to take the role as King - he said no - and helped establish this nation as one of laws not of hereditary power.

No, not at all. I don't think Obama was the greatest ever. I hope I didn't imply that.
My favorite is Lincoln because he held the union together through hell.
Not trolling at all.

I think the first President was the greatest considering everything he was up against. And no... I'm not referring to Washington, he wasn't the first. And only because Obama's stint is not yet over. He really can' be compared to previous Prez'z. Only a historic perspective with 20/20 hindsight can effectively determine his performance.

Which, in turn, solidifies your whole existence here for another term as well.
Yours as well. Someone has to run the Fan Boy Club for the little liar. Nice going "champ".

Yeah, he is awesome:
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Employers kept their pace of hiring virtually steady in December, falling short of the levels needed to bring down the country's lofty unemployment rate and pointing to lackluster economic growth in 2013.
The jobless rate was steady at 7.8 percent. The report reinforces expectations of 2 percent economic growth this year, which is unlikely to quickly bring down the unemployment rate.
It is also unlikely to make the U.S. Federal Reserve rethink its easy-money policies anytime soon despite growing unease by some policymakers over a bond-buying program.
"The U.S. economy is just muddling through," said Tom di Galoma, managing director at Navigate Advisors in Stamford, Connecticut.
The Labor Department raised its estimate for the unemployment rate in November by a tenth of a point to 7.8 percent, citing a slight change in the labor market's seasonal swings.
Most economists expect the U.S. economy will be held back by tax hikes this year as well as by weak spending by households and businesses, which are still trying to reduce their debt burdens.

Unemployment Rises for Women, African-Americans in December

(CNSNews.com) – Government unemployment numbers for December showed that while the general unemployment rate remained flat at 7.8 percent, unemployment for women and African-Americans rose despite an economy that created 155,000 jobs.
Unemployment for women rose to 7.3 percent in December from 7.0 percent while the rate for African-Americans rose sharply to 14.0 percent from 13.2 percent in November.
Unemployment among African Americans has remained quite high throughout the sluggish economic recovery of the past several years, despite the steady decline in overall unemployment in the economy generally.
The number of employed African Americans actually fell in December – a month that typically sees a spike in job creation as employers add temporary positions to handle the holiday shopping season.
The number of employed African Americans fell from nearly 16 million to 15.8 million in December.
By contrast, the unemployment rate for Whites remained nearly a full point below the national average at 6.9 percent in December.

http://washingtonexaminer.com/youth-unemployment-11.5-percent-22.1-percent-for-young-blacks/article/2517561#.UObtkG_AexV
Youth unemployment 11.5 percent, 22.1 percent for young blacks
The dismal jobs situation in America is even worse for young adults, who are suffering an unemployment rate 30 percent higher than the national average of 7.8 announced by Washington Friday.
According to Generation Opportunity, which charts unemployment for Millennials aged 18-29, the rate is 11.5 percent and a shocking 22.1 percent for younger black Americans.
Here's their release just received by Secrets:
December's Millennial Jobs Report: Youth Unemployment at 11.5 Percent
Washington, DC - (1/4/13) - Generation Opportunity, a national, non-partisan organization advocating for Millennials ages 18-29, is announcing its Millennial Jobs Report for December 2012. The data is non-seasonally adjusted (NSA) and is specific to 18-29 year olds:
The overall unemployment rate for 18-29 year olds for December 2012 is 11.5 percent (NSA).
The unemployment rate for 18-29 year old African-Americans for December 2012 is 22.1 percent (NSA); the unemployment rate for 18-29 year old Hispanics for December 2012 is 12.2 percent (NSA); and the unemployment rate for 18-29 year old women for December 2012 is 10.4 percent (NSA).
The declining labor force participation rate has created an additional 1.7 million young adults that are not counted as "unemployed" by the U.S. Department of Labor because they are not in the labor force, meaning that those young people have given up looking for work due to the lack of jobs.
If the labor force participation rate were factored into the 18-29 unemployment calculations, the actual Millennial unemployment rate would rise to 16.3 percent (NSA).
"As Washington argues over short-term fixes, Millennials are wondering why their elected leaders continue to ignore critical issues such as unprecedented youth unemployment as well as the larger concern of addressing the nation's underlying fiscal challenges," said Matthew Faraci, senior vice president for communications at Generation Opportunity and a former U.S. Labor Department spokesperson.

Lincolnton Furniture Company, praised for bringing jobs back to US, closes
By Cameron Steele
The Charlotte Observer
Lincolnton Furniture Company closed abruptly Thursday just one year after it was hailed by President Barack Obama as an example of the recovering U.S. economy.
Furniture-making operations stopped indefinitely and only a few people will remain employed moving forward, company financial officer Ben Causey said.
“I don’t know where it’s going to go exactly; we’re still evaluating our situation,” Causey said. “We just didn’t have any choice at this point.”
The company was not receiving the orders it needed to sustain its operations, Causey said.
“We needed more orders is really what it boiled down to,” he said. “We thought they would materialize.”
Owner Bruce Cochrane, a fifth generation furniture-manufacturer, formed the company in 2011 with a $5 million investment and the hope he could make a profit off people who wanted to buy furniture made in America.
It was a move that caught the attention of North Carolina officials and those in the White House. Last year, Cochrane sat with the first lady during Obama’s 2012 State of the Union Address. He also joined the president and other business leaders in a discussion about how to create more jobs at home.
Attempts late Thursday to reach Cochrane were unsuccessful. Causey said company officials were thankful for the support they received from the community over the past year-and-a-half.
Jerry Cochrane, Bruce Cochrane’s uncle and former Lincoln County Commissioner, learned about the company’s closing Thursday.
“I was surprised that they stopped the operation this quickly,” he said. “But starting a furniture business now is very difficult in this country.”
Last week, the Gaston Gazette recognized Bruce Cochrane as one of its “persons of the year” in 2012 for starting the furniture-manufacturing in his hometown.
“Everybody was rooting for us and wanted us to succeed,” Causey said.

Some good points in this post but this one got my ire. Have you ever heard how many times in a speech this narcissist says "I" or "Me?" The same narcissist who gave the Queen of England an IPod as a gift generously loaded with ... want to take a guess? photos from Obama's inauguration and audio of his inauguration address! He is an awful person only to be outdone by his more awful and vile wife.

The use of them is not the problem. It is the extensive, repeated narcisssistic focus on them which is the problem. That's why the NAVY Seals hated the guy for being a blowhard and taking all the credit for the bin Laden killing.

That's not what it says. It doesn't say "in".
It says.
A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.
Now look at that.
It is very specific.
It is saying that militias are necessary AND the right shall not be infringed.
Punctuation is EVERYTHING.
In this phrase it is not stated that in a militia the right shall not be infringed. It's saying that neither right shall be infringed.
A militia can be created by any citizen AND the right to keep and bear arms is not to be infringed in any way.
You are being a little short sighted here.
The people are supposed to protect the people from tyrannical government. This can not be done without the armament to do so.
This entire process is to protect you and I from people who would usurp power from US and give it to themselves.
I do not understand how you put so much blind faith in the government.
How do you do this when your "party" may not always be in office? Lets say that Obama comes for the guns and takes them, then in 12 years a Republican starts rounding up all people they find undesirable... There is no armament to protect you from this.
What are you going to do?

not "anyone" can start a militia....guys starting "militias" has been a problem in the U.S....many of these "militias are racist, and run by loonies who are waiting for the end oif the world....many are involved in planning terrorist and anti-government activities...(Tim McVeigh belonged to a "militia")...Militias are not "well-regulated"......they are small bands of ignorant, anti-government morons usually.....a well-regulated militia is an Army, or police force.......also we have a well-regulated citizen Militia..its called the National Guard.....
Also, "militias" are outdated and the reference in the constitution was meant to give citizens in the U.S. the ability to deter the British by taking up arms on the premise that it was the duty of all citizens to fight possible British invasion...not their own Government.....
other countires have gun control..the British, Japanese.....I don't see them rounding up people as you put it...that can't happen here in this day and age....its a different time.... our society is too well-informed and our institutions are too well developed for that to ever happen again....
the language in the constitution is not perfect and was sometimes left deliberately vague to satisfy all parties.....again..no sane rational person can ignore the fact that gun deaths in Britain and Japan average less than 35 a year butnumber in the thousands in the U.S. every year....anyone who looks at that and continues to argue is truly insane....regardless of how you feel about the constitution
-
Any President that would do what he's doing to this country is NOT a good person, professionally, morally, ethically even if he were a civilian, he would NOT be a good "guy". He's a horrible human being and delusional at best!
wow..you're nuts...you've gone over the edge
-
wow..you're nuts...you've gone over the edge
Obama is a down lo twink w a delusion of greatness and granduer. He is a street pick pocket and a punk and little else.

Really? Point out where I'm wrong?
-

I'm not kidding - when I see obama on TV I look at him no different than a typical street punk down in the subway on the #4 w Dre Beats on w pants around ass and trying to pick pockets and hustle a dollar from good decent working folk.
-

Considering he's shit on almost every aspect of the constitution and blatant disregard for the law, I would in everyway challenge his fake authority. He's a common white.collar criminal that only gets a pass from the media.

Yes, gun deaths are lower... However Stabbings and bludgeonings are higher... People will simply find a way to kill people.
England has the highest rate of stabbings per capita in the world... So sure, it's not guns, but they will just find another way to kill.
Do you truly believe that 1939 was THAT long ago? People didn't have access to information and didn't know what was going on? They did and there just wasn't a damn thing that anyone could do about it because they had NO ARMS to fight off an oppressive regime.
Pol Pot was in control when?
Exactly... Just because we have the internet doesn't mean that information is all of a sudden more available than it was before.
People knew what was going on.
The old saying is still true... Evil wins when good people do nothing... If there are no arms, then when a tyrannical government gets going, the good people have no ABILITY to do nothing.
Hell, look at the afghanis... How long did they fight off the Soviets?
They didn't have anywhere near the force, but eventually the USSR had to say fuck it.
To put it simply... In an unjust world, the gun enables justice.

Obama is not fit to wash my hands after tacking a shit and piss in a bathroom stall in a cheezy night club for tips, let alone be POTUS

Sorry, I don't regard him as "MY" president. Btw, he's already shitting all over this country for sport.

Seriously? You think one of the best?
Compared to who?
I don't think any President that erodes our civil liberties is on ANY level, one of the best... He's not one of the worst either, but he's just not one of the best... He's definitely middle of the road.
I thought Bush would go down in History as the worst, he's going to have to fight Obama for that position!
-
Please pick one and tell me why.
George Washington,
Guess why

LOL, in what way? Im always.curious to here what people have to say when they make statements like that. Obama isn't even qualified to be Bush's dog walker compared to him. Yeah, it was a real bitch having a growing economy, low ue in wartime (that both parties voted on).

george bushes were both military industrial puppets... neither was a president of any consequence... they'll fall on the list of forgotten presidents and people will remember Clinton, Obama, Reagan, Carter and of course Hillary in 2016...

LOL...delusional at best. But you're right about one thing. They WILL remember Carter and Obama for making the US for what it is now, a mess!

He just needs to keep doing what he's doing for habitat and keep him communist pie hole quite about his views. You think it's a secret that he and Obama are communist and terrorist sympathizers? Why you would post that video as some sort of example is beyond me, really shows your character.

you are either delusional or insane if you think that your statement above has any merit.

I meant to say its NO secret. Regardless, one of Carter's buddies was Yassir Arafat, a terrorist. Obama is a favorite among communists and communist leaders because of his ideologies.

arafat was no more a terrorist than George Bush
please identify communist leaders who love Obama and his ideologies

this statement above proves you have no idea what you are talking about.....Arafat was NOT Carter's "buddy" as you put it....and how can Obama be a favorite among communists???????
Obama has been a very militant president if you look at his presidency clearly.....this is why the republicans have never been able to pin the "weak" label on him as they usually do to Democratic Presidents...

Castro. Putin, Chavez have all endorsed and supported Obama. The Communist party of America endorsed Obama this past and the previous election. His communist ties are no CT but real and again...no secret. You guys keep living in your denial.

Wouldn't make a difference what I put up. When you're as like minded as Obama, Chavez, and the rest of the world's destroyers, it doesn't really matter.

perhaps... i'll be dead within the next 50 years or so anyway...

- Obama is so brilliant that he drastically cut spending by increasing spending....wait...What??
- Obama is the King of Courtesy...when meeting the Emperor of Japan and the King of Saudi Arabia, he bent down to make sure their shoelaces weren't untied....how thoughtful!
- Obama wisely ended the wars in the Middle East. How? By starting a war in Libya. Except it wasn't a war, but "kinetic military action," which sounds a lot smarter than "starting a war."
- Obama is like Jackie Robinson of the presidency......except things were a LOT harder for Obama than they were for Robinson.
- "Yes We Can!" Can we do it? YES! Who is Going to Do It? WE! And what Can We Do? UNKNOWN....so it's whatever you think.
- He was taught Christianity values for over 15 years in a Chicago Church about the CIA crack-cocaine conspiracy, the evils of American, and the problems with honkies.
- The movie Zero Dark Thirty is not about SEAL Team Six(which doesn't even exist......duh!), but about how Obama entered some compound and broke Osama Bin Ladin's neck with his bare hands. To prove how modest of a man he is, he quietly dumped the body of bin Ladin into the ocean where it was never seen by anyone. Obama's platter of accomplishments was already overfilling, why put one more on it?
