Any problems keeping them from wandering off and getting lost?

I mean cats, rodents, etc. For the enjoyment and seeing their delight at experiencing fresh air, grass, plants, a breeze, insects, etc. on the other hand not so easy to effectively leash them up, knowing they might wander or run away.. 8)

I walk my dogs 4 times a day .
My cats are used to going outside.
In my country everybody is used to cats rooming around the neighbourhood hunting for mice .. ;)

I have a neighbour who only let her cats in her own backyard and they are both on a leasch....one time one of her cats tryed to climb over the fence between our yards and he hung himself on that same leasch....poor cat died by self execution... :'(
