I've been playing online poker on PartyPoker for a couple of years now and I've never won jack shit - I don't understand it - I can't even make a profit. >:(
Maybe I'm just crap at it. Still love playing it though. :)

Just a suggestioin: play with people in person and not on the net. You can get a better feeling from than just trying to read their bets.
Most players you find in casinos outside Las Vegas are donkeys. They call most bets, chase straights and flushes. That goes for home games also. Just be patient and wait for the nuts and make them pay, because the donkeys are sure to give you action!
another suggestion: when playing in person try and figure out what the person you are betting against is trying to communicate to you: Are they showing strength or weakness? Are they trying to get you to call or fold? What ever it it is, (depending upon if you have the nuts or not and the person's past playing habits) do the opposite.

Just so you know....$200 is the minimum buy in. Which shouldn't be a big deal for you unless you keep having to re-buy!

There is so much to do there besides gamble. I'd rather lay by the pool. The O Show at the Bellagio is worth the trip alone. That is the most incredible entertainment I have ever experienced.

A guy I know from high school won a raffle for a "dream house" or the monetary equivalent. He took the money...I think it was about 250,000. It went up his nose. :-\
