For those familiar with Wigan’s history of Catch-As-Catch-Can wrestling, you’ve probably at least heard of Billy Riley, the gentleman who trained such notorious shooters as Karl Gotch, “The Golden Ace” John Naylor, and Billy Robinson - among many others - at his humble Lancashire facility eventually nicknamed “The Snake Pit.”

Well, The Pit has reopened, accompanied by a revival in popularity of Catch-style wrestling.

And, when you have a few minutes, check out the interview with Andrea Wood, who operates the gym with her father Roy, one of Riley's last original students: http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2011/11/24/2583320/interview-andrea-wood-return-of-catch-wrestling-snake-pit

Due to the overwhelming interest and outpouring of responses to this thread, I’m including some semi-recent footage of the legendary catch wrestler Billy Robinson training some MMA guys:

I can count on one hand, and have fingers left over, the number of people I've heard refer to a FFL as a "grovit."
