I was going to say something similar ROFL. Those 2 ads should be for Viagra!!!! Frank has the kind of miserable look on his face that someone would have if they couldn't ahem, rise to the occassion. It looks like the chick went to sleep waiting for him to get a boner in the first pic and the second pic should have a caption along the lines of " WTF do you mean you still can't get it up?"  (and hence, that look on his face that would PERFECTLY reflect how he would be feeling on the inside)

The most ridiculous thing about this ad, along with virtually all of the other ones from Animal (Universal), is that being a selfish knuclehead somehow equates to being a "hardcore" bodybuilder.

Maybe someone should remind these folks about Bill Pearl. This guy used to wake up as early as 3 a.m. to hit the iron. With his training out of the way, he was able to work, run a gym, and TAKE CARE OF HIS FAMILY (wife and kids).

Did I mention that Bill Pearl won the NABBA Mr. Universe, which at that time was the most prestigious title in bodybuilding, FOUR TIMES. Yet, he didn't ignore his wife or foolishly spend his rent/mortgage money on supplements.

Oh, there's that other guy, a big black fellow. Some people called him "Awesome" or something like that.......OOOOHHHH!!! That would be Lee Haney!! All he did was win the AAU Mr. America, the NPC Nationals, the Mr. Universe, and EIGHT Mr. Olympia titles.

Last time I checked, he's been married for over two decades. He even missed watching Ronnie Coleman tie his record to be with his son, as he started his first year of college. He also runs a ranch to help young children out.

Yeah, being selfish is key to being a "hardcore" bodybuilder.

 In that ad...obviously she is upset or mad at the big bad bodybuilder...the subliminal message I picked up is that the truth is...she is falling madly in love with him and the more he ignores her and puts BB first and makes her feel she isnt worth a shit...the MORE in love she will be with him. Women are like that! Now...if in this advertisment...the BB put HER first and didnt take training that serious and had flowers for her and treated her like an equal...she would probably look upon him as a friend...as a 'nice guy' hence...she wouldnt truly respect him then eventually cheat on him with someone who WILL treat her like a whore.

To a degree, you're right. I used to think the same way when I was in college 10 years ago. But, I realized something: These types of women are the head cases. These are the women that have been psychologically and/or physically abused in their younger years. They've become so used to being treated like garbage that they think being treated like a human being is a novelty. To them, being treated right means only hitting them once a month or cheating on them with someone they don't know. They're messed up, like the "Jenny" character in the movie, Forrest Gump.

I was briefly (and I stress BRIEFLY) involved with such a girl. This woman always thought I was going to see another girl, even though we were never officially a couple. She made a scene about that in front of my house and didn't believe I was going to play softball, even though I was my softball uniform. She didn't even believe me, when my best friend, who played for a different team (and helped set up the field) showed up in his uniform, with the balls, bats, bases, chalk, and gloves in the back of his truck.

These kinds of women are the only ones who would put up with a buffoon-type bodybuilder, such as the one portrayed in the Animal ads (by Frank McGrath, I think). Anyone woman with a legitimate amount of self-esteem would have told him to stick his protein powder, Aminal Cuts, etc. where the sun don't shine.

the reality is the ad is a good ad.   mainly for the fact it has people talking about animal pak, and thats all they can ask for. 

i remember when i was really young and my friends father drove a van service.  he posted his sign on his car.  the sign was posted crocked, just so people would look and be "ha, they are so dumb, the signs slanted"   meanwhile, the company name would stick in the memory, even if it was only for the brief time period. 
 
its the same reason the muscle tech ad's are as crazy as they are.   just the pages alone crack me up, but it does the job.   the cell tech name is household.  and the reality is, someone is going to give it a shot just because they keep hearing the name. 

the point is to get people talking about the company, and in that they have done their job.

Talking about the ad and actually buying their product are two different things altogether. I certainly don't feel the urge to buy Universal wares, just because the company protrayed some bodybuilder as a selfish meathead, living in a rat-shack, looking down on other people (including the few who might actually care about his dumb behind), in a foolish attempt to be "hardcore".

Is this guy more "hardcore" than Bill Pearl or Lee Haney? I don't think so!!! Win 4 Mr. Us or 8 Mr. Os, while maintaining a business, a stable marriage, and a loving family. Now THAT'S "HARDCORE"!!!!
