He's been right on this stuff since day one when they were calling him a whiner.

Shawn does have a tendency to talk too much.
FYI: Shawn Ray used to talk shit about Lee Haney's "weaknesses" back in in the day. Shawn thought that he was going to dethrone Lee; and stop Lee's quest for the record breaking 8th Olympia. Lee Haney didn't respond. Haney was training like a beast in Atlanta; while Shawn was believing his own delusions in California. Haney showed up at the 1991 Olympia and destroyed Shawn.

i agree with what he says
he is right on

Absolutely dead on.

Is he a whiner? Yes. But, is he still right? Yes.
-
He was right on about posing. 5 different music changes in one posing routine, walking back and forth, begging for applause, holding their ear for applause.

Absolutely dead on.

Shawn Ray speaking truth
Mostly all true, but he is misguided when he says people aren't there to see size freaks. They are. It is easy to forget this now, but the top guys in the good old days were considered huge and freaky for their time. Judges can alter the current narrative by rewarding well sculpted smaller physiques, even as they give the "most muscular" award to the freak of the day. The MM award should be awarded in every show (best poser too) but the MM guy doesn't necessarily have to win the overall title.
Bah!

Maybe they want to see it but who wants to live in that Body? I mean Day in Day out with that size? Looking at and being that "Freak" is another number. I am not in any way putting them down but they are "products" of "menschlichen Bedürfnis"..

they don't need less size. They just need more height.

Ever been to the Preakness or any other horse race? I don't want to live in the body of a jockey or a horse, but I do want to see what they can do on the field. For most people patronizing sporting events is not about wanting to live in their bodies; it is about seeing something taken to an extreme: performance, speed, strength, size, agility, etc. Historically, body building has been about extreme size and lean conditioning. Even the "fans" who claim to dislike where the sport is now or where it's going are still buying magazines & videos, still attending show and expos, and still closely following the huge participants they claim to disapprove of or be disgusted by. Two horses died at the Preakness recently. Horse racing fans aren't going anywhere... and neither apparently are body building fans.
Bah!

He should have said it was drugs.

As much as a whiner he can be, Shawn is on point here.
That asshole at the end of the video is a major part of the problem.

Shawn Ray may be a little verbose but he is almost always right about what he is saying.
I'll always be grateful to Shawn because anytime I ever emailed him with a question he responded and made an effort to give me a correct answer.
He is a favorite of mine.
