It was a better time when a huge portion of the dope came straight from Columbia on airplanes from one major drug kingpin who ruled with an iron fist.

The drugs are gonna get here one way or the other. Might as well have all the violence that goes with it several countries away rather than directly south and just a few hundred yards away from the U.S.in some circumstances.

The more you read about these people the more you realize how dangerous they are. The Mexican cartels learned a lot from what happened in Colombia. These guys went out and hired the most sadistic members of the Mexican special forces. These special forces then went out and hired even worst people.

This is like Ted Bundy going out and seeking the services of Bill Gacy and Jeffrey Dahmer... Sick, sick stuff.

Live by the sword/die by the sword.

To me it sounds more like someone ratted him out to get his job than anything else.

I've spoken to people from Sinaloa and they told me that these guys travel in convoys of 5-6 cars, all heavily armed. Even the local cops pull to the kerb when they see them drive by.

And the military is always 2-3 hours late because the military personnel usually tell a local informant so that they can get a job with the cartel.

I'm telling you, this dude was stabbed in the back.

from Borderlandbeat.com

El Chapo contributed money to the campaign of Enrique Peña Nieto in order to become a candidate for the presidency, a former director of intelligence for the DEA revealed.

Phil Jordan said that something bad happened between the PRI and El Chapo because of his capture.  He says that it was a triumph for Mexico, that the president allowed the apprehension of El Chapo.

El Chapo Guzman contributed financial resources to Peña Nieto’s campaign, denounced Phil Jordan, former director of intelligence for the DEA in El Paso, Texas.

“Something bad happened between the PRI and the narco,” he said when being interviewed on a special segment on Univision.

The interviewer asked him: What evidence is there to confirm that El Chapo supported the campaign of Peña Nieto?

“That is documented in past campaigns of the PRI. El Chapo, Caro (Quintero), everyone gave money to whoever was running for president.  I don’t have the papers but there are intelligence reports indicating that the cartel of El Chapo is very involved in politics.”

Wouldn’t it be contradictory that the government of Peña Nieto was the one who captured El Chapo but he received money from him?

“Something bad happened between the PRI and El Chapo Guzmán.  What I can’t tell you now, because I don’t know why they arrested him, when he was paying millions of dollars to not arrest him, like how he paid millions of dollars to let him out the previous time.  He has all the money in the world.”

Jordan said that the relationship between the narcos and Mexican politicians is well known; the ones they need to operate and create their empires.

The interviewer then asks: If Chapo talked about his ties with Mexican politicians, would we have a big surprise in the political landscape of this country?

“There won’t be any surprises because the PRI and Chapo know very well that he was well involved in politics with money,” he replied.

Another question asked was that if Chapo also bribed officials from the United States.  Jordan replies:

“With the money that El Chapo has anything is possible.  Corruption just doesn’t occur in Mexico, it also occurs in the U.S.”

He warned that the jail that El Chapo ends up in, he can also run his business.

He didn’t rule out, however, that El Chapo negotiated his capture.

He stated that with Mexican narcos, there shouldn’t be more than one king, and with Caro Quintero free, he may be the new king.

"Chapo used 7 tunnels to move between buildings (homes)", the operation was "flawless", and identification process occurred this morning (paraphrased):

Lalo introduces AG Jesus Murillo Karan, Semar Chief Vidal Soberon Sanz, Defense Department commander Salvador Cienfuegos Zepeda, CISEN Secretary Manuel Mondragon DeKalb.

Karam: Hello. At  6:40 this morning Semar personnel arrested (Chapo Guzman) in Mazatlan, along with a collaborator. We made you wait this long for a press conference because we wanted to be completely sure of his identity, which has now been done by PGR investigators. We are 100% certain. He has been examined by doctors and shortly will be transferred to an appropriate prison.

This operation took several months of work and planning between all Federal agencies who have collaborated on this matter, and the arrest was performed impeccably by Semar personnel.

During this last month, this operation had several definitive moments leading to the capture. From February 13 to February 17, we located several homes where he was in the habit of staying. The 7 homes were connected by tunnels to other homes in the area and to the sewer drainage system. The doors to the homes were steel reinforced, and the few minutes it took to get through them were enough to allow them (suspects) to escape through the tunnels.

Be the investigation was so thorough and complete that we continued to follow up. (We kept up with Chapo) constantly and could have taken him on several occasions. But we used caution and common sense and chose to take him in a way that did not endanger the public. We took him down without a shot being fired, with nobody hurt.

This coordination between all (Mexican) security agencies also had information from certain U.S. agencies. This arrest is the 75th arrest of the targets we said we were going to get. We will keep working to make Mexico safer.

I just want to say that in this simple operation, we seized the following:

13 detainees
97 rifles (armas largas)
36 pistols (armas cortas)
2 grenade launchers
1 missile launcher
43 vehicles, 19 of which were armored
16 homes
4 ranches,
etc

It took them years to dissmantle the arrellano felix organization and even longer to catch Chapo. They arrested chapos son not too long ago for no reason! just because he had the same last name and was related. They tried to blame his son for drug trafficking without any product I believe. There are still plenty of cartels and guys in Power. They have that jaurez-7 cartel that is pretty powerful and extremely ruthless. always somebody else to take his place. chapo will name a successor from prison. It is a war that never ends.
