Steve, you need to examine this eternal loyalty thing that you do. It's ok to just reciprocate kindness in a measured amount with other people. Just because someone is nice to you doesn't mean you owe him your unending devotion.
The QB thing has a couple of bucks attached to it but it's mostly just forum nonsense. If you give your loyalty as easily in the real world, and keep clinging to it when all the facts advise caution, then you could have some bad consequences coming your way.
Given your situation and your personality on here, I imagine you have some people in your life who have used your loyalty to take advantage of you. Part of getting back on track means stopping contact with the worst of them, insisting on fair and balanced exchanges with the rest of them, and letting facts define the nature of future relationships.
In all probability, you won't find anyone outside your family who deserves your permanent loyalty. That's why you need to find a way to take a more balanced and fact oriented approach in your dealings with others, instead of the emotion based all-or-nothing way of deciding who deserves friendship.
