It's not an ordinary car though....look at the materials constructing it.

yes, because race cars are much, much more delicate and not designed to protect the drivers in case of high speed crashes at all. Race cars are clearly designed to instantly explode and kill the driver as soon as they hit anything, especially at low speed.

I've seen worse wrecks with vehicles going 50 km / hour.

I travel one of the most dangerous highways in Canada regularly.

Hitting something head on is going to do severe damage even at lower speeds.

yes, what was I thinking, race cars arent designed to protect their driver from head on collisions into immovable barriers/objects at all.

Man, what was I thinking?

That was my point.

I have zero idea what Shockwave is going on about. Zero.

Trying to pick a fight probably.

Read what he wrote. He's saying that this car (and race cars) are not designed to implode on impact, especially due to the nature of the vehicle.

I completely understand that.

I wasn't saying the opposite.

race cars are generally designed to break apart on impact, dissipating energy.

Ban light poles.   Surely we have the technology to illuminate the streets without these pesky metal hindrances.  Think of the movie stars!

Groink
is self centered
and attention whore
good or bad

So is every person on this site.

If  you didnt want the attention and people to react to your posts,  you would just think them and not type them. Pretty obvious to me anyway.

The POST button might as well say "look at me"

Paul Walker died in a ritualistic death .. don't bother with the details or why...it ties in with the train crash and there will be a third event to follow.

Disturbing. TMZ (Yeah, I know, Groink) reports that his 23 year-old girlfriend collapsed when she heard the news. Said they had been dating for 7 years, which means he was 33 and she was 16 when they met. Creepy and illegal, but I still feel bad for the guy.

Edit: It was actually Radaronline that reported this.

Sources connected to Roger tell TMZ when Paul arrived ... Roger was watching one of his employees try in vain to back the Carrera GT into the shop, but it kept stalling. Roger decided to take matters into his own hands ... told the worker to get out and took the wheel himself.

As Roger began to back into the garage ... Paul came up and said he hadn't driven in the Porsche yet -- so he jumped in the passenger seat and they took a 20 minute drive.

Paul's best friend from childhood, Nute, grabbed a fire extinguisher and was among the first to arrive on scene. We're told Nute frantically tried to extinguish the flames ... even though it appeared to him both men were already dead.

When the fire dept arrived they tried to pull Nute away, but he was overwrought and punched a firefighter. We're told Sheriff's deputies put Nute -- and several other of Paul and Roger's friends -- in custody, but let them go when they realized the circumstances.

that's if they got the story right.

Also, in order to save weight, the transmission tunnel is made out of magnesium. And you know what happens to magnesium when it catches fire, right?

so,bambam was right.

frends have tried countless fireextingishers on the car but to no avail.

and frends and the son of the driver tried to resque them out of the flames but the 2 victims were stuck, they reported.

both entirely burned up and could nly be identified by teeth records.

this is very sad,the raul guys son tried to save his father from the claims, while others stood there filming it.
the little boy went right into a huge explosion to help.

In the end, bam-bam was wrong. 7 extinguishers didn't do jack, plus a magnesium transmission tunnel.
The guy who was filming came up to the scene, was running to it, you hear a loud boom, and he and others ran back.

i was just following stuff on forums.
Like how the mainstream media showed a pic of Honda S2000, with black rims, and then "aha, they were drag racing"....yeah, a S2000 and a almost half a million dollar car drag racing. Come to find out, it was someone who had stopped to help.

Some idiot claims that he heard the turbos spool up, and this car is reported to be largely stock, which means no turbos, as it never came with them.

This is a good study on 24 hr news outlets and today's journalism. Very poor quality, and all they want to do is get the first lead without checking it out.

U know what they say about having a "race car" for the street, u also get all the advantages and "disadvantages" of having a race car and that includes safety and light saving materials that could easily catch on fire... In the case a Carrera GT!

Yep, so now I am waiting for the news outlets to now condemn the car, asking questions about the Carrera GT's building materials. And why did Porsche build a car that even their test driver was scared of and had them add traction control to.
This possibly could be spun that this car and Porsche's are inherently dangerous cars. Add in the just recent 918 crash...
I am waiting to see how they (media) will spin this. If they do that at all.
