morihiro Saito Sensei. He learned the whole system from Aiki Budo to Modern Aikido. Later he called his school Iwama Ryu or Takemusu .

You have to train this way because of the joint locks. when you get put in a wrist lock like Nikyo then you will know what i mean. still.. if you want the locks, throws, strikes try Wado Ryu. Great style. very strong elements of Shindo Yoshin Ryu Jui Jitsu. Wonderful.. ;D

Have done Wado Ryu, am far from expert.
Though trained with some excellent teachers.
Would like to do more judo & Jui jitsu.

try and find a Wado School near you. A very fast, light style. Forget all this "Hard" styles or schools stuff. Wado is intelligent and economical fighting. I enjoyed speaking and writing to this man Tatsuo Suzuki in the UK. I mean real letters not emails.. ;D

Judo is infact a synthesis of many schools of Traditional Jui Jitsu. Jigoro Kano was an Educator. Not like Ueshiba from Aikido who was very spiritual. Judo is very under rated.

A very Diffrent view of Aikido was from Koichi Tohei Sensei  a firm believer in KI. Ki was a central root of Daito Ryu and Aikido but he split from the Aiki kai to form his own School.

Makes it look so effort less & easy.
Some staging in the multiple attack.
Otherwise good video.

One of my wishes if I ever win the lottery and can retire from working
Would be to seek out some of these Teachers & spend some time being
Trained by them, enough to become proficient in just a few basic moves
Out of each style.

Watching & studying these types of video is of some benefit at least.

this man Toshishiro Obata was a student of Gozo Shioda ( Yoshinkan Aikido). A school which still teaches pre 2nd WW Techniques which are clearly Daito Ryu Aiki Jujitsu. intresting is Obata did have some small Hollywood roles in films.

I also liked this school of Aikido and met Shimizu sensei in Hannover. He came over to Germany very often. Has a lot of followers in Italy too. Shimizu Sensei was the last "Uchi-Deshi" of Morihei Ueshiba. Tendo Ryu is a very fast Dynamic school of Aikido with large round movements. This is shunned by some but i like it. shimizu Sensei was a High graded Judoka before he formed his school of Aikido, the sacrifice throws and Hip throws are very evident. old film from 1985 but i love it....

The Fundamental Techniques of Aikido come from the sword, Ken, Jo,Tanto. i have an original Film given to me from Reinhard of his time in Iwama. He Died of Cancer and i was really honoured to be asked by him to go on his last trip to Iwama. He was a man i respected.

Excellent video. Very fast and fluid.
In your comments ref the judo influence
It is noticeable in his style.

What are your thought on wing Chun
Any good videos.
Very few schools that I have seen over here,

I would check out a couple of schools and do a couple of training sessions before you join them. most Wing chun/Ving Tsun/Wing Tzun.. comes under diffrent names but the forms are nearly identical. Itīs only money making and internal Politics. most popular in Europe and certainly in Germany is the Wing Tzun system from Leung Ting, represented from Keith R Kernsprecht. Kernsprechts most well known student is Emin Boztepe  who teaches in the US. you hear all the time our school is better than the rest....best is look and see which teacher (Sifu) suites your personality and what the people are like training there.

This was a good series about two Americans travelling around trying diffrent martial arts. here they are in Hong Kong at Leung Tings School. the IWTA , International Wing Tsun Association. He talks in the film about "Wing chun " not being a style but he marketed his own method and protected legally the name Wing Tsun. He has moved slightly away from Kernsprecht who heads the EWTO, European Wing Tsun Organization. Kernsprecht has changed the Wing Tzun slightly to call a part of it "Blitz Defence". they all want a piece of the Pie..Money  ;) Still a good film. donīt worry about the spelling just find a teacher you like.

This Guy speaks the truth. However when i met Philip Bayer who was in Hong Kong many years he told me he learned the Leung Ting system and in Hong Kong. he went to another School and they said show us what you have learned. They laughed, philip said at first i did not understand what they meant then they showed me.
Title: Re: Aiki Budo

This is what he was talking about in the video. Keith R Kernsprecht (EWTO) has changed the system he learned from Leung Ting. Itīs money making. Although i have to say Kernsprecht is a good Business man and milks the suckers. He has a system of grades not found in Hong Kong, Techniker Grades. He splits it up for his Financial gains. Blitz Defence like i wrote before... a clever man

Another very underrated Martial Art is Kodokan Judo. Thanks to BJJ has been brought to light. The BJJ Guys on here can write more than me on BJJ. On 24 July 1905 representatives of the Leading Ju Jutsu (Ryus) of Japan, gathered at the Butokukai Institute in Kyoto to agree upon the forms(Kata) of Kodokan Judo. Aincient techniques of each school to be preserved in Kata. from a technical point of view Judo has atemi wazs(striking) and Katame-waza(grappling) from the Tenjin Shinyo School and the Nage-waza from the Kito school. Both school Jigaro Kano was trained in. He took out what he considered not suited to his new system as he wanted a way of moral education as well as Fighting. I always liked to learn the History of any system i learned or practised. Not just learning techniques..  A lot of people do not realize that there are Atemi waza striking in Judo in Kata. Such as Kime-no-Kata or Goshin jutsu

Intresting and becoming popular again thanks to BJJ is "kosen Judo". A slight variation which allows techniques  which are banned from Kodokan Judo.

Jumping around a bit on here but i have to give this Man respect. I remember Guys who told me they were in the EWTO organization with Kernsprecht and they said when they wanted to leave they got intimidation. Remember the EWTO is a big money machine for these people. Kernsprecht has even a Castle where he trains people and makes lots of Money.

Yoseikan Aikido from Minoru Mochizuki who was also a Master of Judo,Karate. his Son later furthered the Development and called it Yoseikan Budo (Hiroo Mochizuki) and is a modern system with a lot of striking atemi waza. Very popular in France. It is also taught in the US.

Yoseikan Budo... many elements in there, even western Boxing and some savate. I prefer his Fathers more Judo/Aikido orientated system but still...very big in France.

yes.. if you want the self defence aspect you need a system like wing chun. aikido as we know it today is a very watered down version of Daito Ryu Aiki jutsu. One system that is intresting is Tomiki Aikido which has a competition aspect to it as Tomiki Sensei was a very high graded Judoka. The founder of Aikido was a very religious man (Omoto kyo) religion which later changed his teachings of Budo.

yes.. if you want the self defence aspect you need a system like wing chun. aikido as we know it today is a very watered down version of Daito Ryu Aiki jutsu. One system that is intresting is Tomiki Aikido which has a competition aspect to it as Tomiki Sensei was a very high graded Judoka. The founder of Aikido was a very religious man (Omoto kyo) religion which later changed his teachings of Budo.

a very advanced form in Judo.

This might look simple but is in fact a very hard Kata in advanced Judo. A Kata from the Kito Ryu Ju Jutsu. I Think this Kata shows how much Jigoro Kano respected Aiki .

this Book is excellent. I am sure you can translate it online. I posted this a few years ago on here. The basic exercises were Squats and Close grip Bench press using a Tricep Bar holding your hands in the parallel position, of course you can use two DBs together for this in the Parallel or Hammer grip. The tricep bar i never see now but is excellent to Develop the punching power for Wing Tsun Chain punches or Arrow punches.

show a video of it being used in a real fight

or a competitive fight

that's a staged training scenario retard
And you say you are involved in Security work. You do not know anything about Fighting. You have no idea what Wing tsun is or escrima or any other system. You have to take from each system which is suited to you or your purposes. I can assure you that training Chi Sao regularly and drills you will stay fast.

Aiki and Chi is the divine energy of the Universe. Our inner strength. Aiki is all around us. It is positive strength. Think of a spinning top as the centre deflecting the negative forces with itīs centrifugal forces. This then is the nucleus of our techniques in Aikido. Look at Irimi Nage. The Aiki principles are very evident in the Chinese systems and in Wing Tsun. The yielding and using the other negative forces to your advantage. Chinese principles influenced Okinawa and itīs Karate. Soft and Hard. Yin and Yang. I myself lean more to the Japanese Shinto Religion.

lets stick to the topic

how come every video showing an aiki master in  a real fight

ends up with them getting beaten very easily

name calling isn't helping Donald

lets debate the effectiveness of the system in real life situations

you said you have 20" Biceps

You said you Bench 500 LBS

you said you are using the 10x10 system

you said you phoned a Gym in Glasgow Scotland

you were proved yet again to be a liar and coward

You hide behind a phony name on here i don't

You are an anonymous person on the Internet

why are there no videos of aikido experts winning fights

that aren't staged

why are there no videos of aikido working in real fights

it only works with a compliant partner

the following arts will provide a good base

wrestling
boxing
ju jitsu
muay thai
kick boxing

don't waste your time on aikido or any other nonsense

its clear the op of this thread believes all these videos he watches

that is why he has never been in a real fight

When you served honorably in the RAF, were you and your comrades taught the deadly art of Aiki Budo? Or is this lethal style reserved for the SAS-type elite forces, who are more likely to encounter life-threatening, hand-to-hand situations where quickly summoning one's inner chi can ultimately determine a soldier's survival?

Also, my sincere thanks for your service.

One of my favourite techniques is Yonkyo (written yonkajo by Yoshinkan ) Aikido. The technique is directed against the inside of the opponents wrist. strong concentrated pressure on the weak points of the inside wrist. Think of this technique as wielding a sword, this is  classic Aiki Jutsu in modern Aikido.

Title: Re: Aiki Budo
Post by: Donny on March 04, 2016, 10:10:55 AM
Ueshiba , founder of the Aikidō, has developed its vision of the martial art throughout his life. Modern Aikido is the latest form of his teaching. Before arriving at this refined form, the shape of his practice and the name of his school have undergone changes. Ueshiba had named his school Daitō-ryū Aiki-jūjutsu , referring to koryu (traditional old school) where he got his technical and Aiki budō (1930), which later become Aikido (1942).

Some of his students will in turn create their own style; one of them, Minoru Mochizuki will promote in France then aikido. Thereafter, it will modify it according to his research and develop the style Aikido-Jujutsu of Yoseikan . It will rally and some French practitioners seduced by the plurality of disciplines taught in it.

One of them, Alain Floquet , initiated at the Aiki jūjutsu and practicing himself other martial arts, decided to teach in France. In search of the origins of Aiki movements, it will be presented to various famous professors in various martial arts (Daito Ryu Aikijujutsu, Katori Shinto Ryu ...), in addition to Aikido-Jujutsu of Yoseikan also called Yoseikan Aikido. Several years later, with the permission of his teachers, he summarizes his own art, which definitely takes the name aiki budo in 1980 . The aiki budo was not present as a competitor of aikido, but as an alternative perception of teaching Ueshiba based largely on Minoru Mochizuki education.

Especially developed and taught in France , aiki budo is developing and experiencing a growth in the number of practitioners in Europe and worldwide.

"The Daito Ryu Aikijujutsu and KSR are the two banks of a river, the Yoseikan Shinto Ryu is the bed in which flows aiki budo. The banks of this river are the rails of tradition, and aiki budo the flow of modernity. "

-  Thought movement , Alain Floquet, Budo edition
Description [ edit | edit the code ]

Kanji Aïkibudo
The term aiki budo has four kanji meaning approximately:

合Ai  : Harmonization
気Ki  : Breath, Energy
武Bu  : The force that makes peace
道Dō  : Way
Aïkibudo can therefore be translated as "the way of harmony through martial practice."

As in Aikidō, most of the practice consists of unarmed defense techniques against any armed strikes or not, or against all foreclosures. The same principles that form the basis of the two practices. Also included is aiki budo in older variants of these techniques and forms from other schools, for example variants of sutemi waza proposed by the Master Mochizuki and well-known judokas .

In addition, some weapons are studied, the bokken (wooden training sword), the tanto (wooden knife), the bō (long stick). The practitioner may also, as part of his study, to look at other traditional weapons such as the tonfa or naginata (halberd). Weapons practice comes from the Kobudō .

The philosophy in practice [ edit | edit the code ]
The attacker and defender are called "partners" and not "opponents"; They regularly change roles which are determined in advance. Each is led in turn to undergo technical (Uke) and apply (Tori). So there is not really confrontational. Neither victor nor vanquished. One consequence is that there is no competition in this martial art.

However, lack of competition does not mean exclusion of spontaneous labor or working in opposition; if part of the practice is done in "partnership" to understand the technical, work randori allows to face different degrees of uncertainty, the first stage of the acquisition of "combative reflexes"; later work "kaeshi waza" can work and experience the "Mounting Plates" and responses. The "partner" becomes "My opponent", to experience personal growth and test yourself.

Grades [ edit | edit the code ]
In general - although in some clubs colored belts are awarded - the aïkibudokas wear a belt ( obi ) either white or black.

The equivalent of the belt color change is a grade crossing kyu , awarded by the teacher at the end of a past examination at the club. The beginner white belt passes successively six kyu grades, the 6 th to the 1 st , matching brown belt in other disciplines. Following this increase, the grade is prepared first dan , including obtaining permits to wear the black belt and hakama , and officially marks the transition from the state of beginners than practicing . Dan grades are awarded by a federal jury after examination. Practitioners, wearing the black belt, are called yudansha .

Ki [ edit | edit the code ]
The Ki represents the energy, the lifeblood of every individual is given at birth of every being.

Few practitioners are aware, before reaching a certain level of practice. But perception is more and more over time.

thanks for the pms fellas

i am quite happy to share my training knowledge on here

this was my day yesterday

never under estimate the importance of the mental game

some guys make threats and act all tough but dont turn up on the day

making excuses and trying to validate their own cowardice

you can never be truly at one with yourself until fear dissipates from you like the mist under a burning sun
The Master of Bullshido shares his wisdom on getbig. I am willing to bet that you are so inflexible that you struggle to wipe your butt :D

keep the pms coming fellas

i got this one this morning

"why do all the people that challenge you back out and make excuses"

its the nature of the internet

some anonymous drunken pervert watches a steven segal video and thinks he is a tough guy

challenging everyone to a fight

isnt in reality going to turn up to back his shit up

i mean i flew to one guys country and he was terrified

only when you have looked a man in the eye and let your hands go

can you claim to be a warrior

a strong mind equals a strong body

thanks for the question
I see you are getting upset again Ginger stinker.  ;)

why so angry donald

you claim to be an expert in martial arts

is your art called bullshido  ;D
Understanding comes with time and patience. It is a long road but first try the "Hard" external systems and then later you will understand the "Internal" systems. I am not angry at you because i know you do not understand.

your anger blinds you to the truth

you are a man with no intellect a retard so to speak

your anger the frustration of a mind incapable of cohesive thought

Post by: Donny on March 07, 2016, 01:27:33 PM
hey fellas thanks for the pms

here is one i received today

"why does the drunken retard donny keep calling himself sensei"

Sensei (先生?) is a Japanese word that is literally translated as "person born before another".[1] In general usage, it is used, with proper form, after a person's name, and means "teacher",[2] and the word is used as a title to refer to or address teachers, professors, professionals such as lawyers, CPA, doctors, politicians, clergymen, and other figures of authority.[3] The word is also used to show respect to someone who has achieved a certain level of mastery in an art form or some other skill: accomplished novelists, musicians, artists and martial artists, for example, are addressed in this way.

Great question taking the delusion out of it donald considers that having watched a steven segal film he is now an expert in martial arts. which he proves by pasting random youtube videos of female archers

A sensei is known for his wisdom. Here is a selection of donalds posts. You can judge his wisdom for your self

now a true sensei in the martial arts wouldn't stoop to post the nonsense donald does

the man is clearly a drunken retard

lets see how donald answers this post

this is his chance to prove me wrong
I am your Sensei

shime -waza is the art of strangleholds in Judo and i believe you are referring to hadaka-jime(naked chokelock). This is normally in combination with Osea waza or holding techniques. The below video shows some great examples of this in competition Judo.

Judo and Aikido principles did come together with Tomiki Sensei. He was a very high Graded Judoka sent from Dr Jigoro Kano the founder of Judo.. " JU .DO". The modern sports we see today are from these roots. Grappling is very old.

It never ceases to amaze me how fast the reactions are in older people who practise Kendo..etc. It really does keep you young and supple and mental fit. "A healthy mind in a Healthy body" :)

Atemi waza or striking is still taught in advanced Kata in Judo. Shiho-nage and Kote-Gaeshi are from Daito Ryu which is shown in the Video. Judo was developed By Professor Kano to be a training system of moral education. The principles of "JU" or gentleness are evident in the Kata preserved from the old Ju Jutsu Ryu. The striking points (atemi waza) and Grappling(Katame-waza) were largely taken from the Tenjin Shinyo school. The Throwing (Nage waza) from the Kito school. Although relatively young Ju-do has a rich history.

A nice Video about Aikido and Yoshinkan Aikido. very close to Daitio Ryu principles. Very hard Irimi nage and the Tai sabaki.

The Transition from standing to the Ground is important. Even if a throw fails Neil Adams shows the follow up. Outstanding how he moves knowing exactly where to position himself. One of the Best Judo Champions in the World. I can remember years ago as a kid guys saying Judo is not effective ..how times have changed thanks to the popularity of BJJ and Sambo. Exciting times are ahead !

A nice 8 part series which you can klick on to. The Grip is important and use of the Gi. Remember being shown a few "dirty" tricks for competition such as pulling the Gi in a manner that produced pain in the under arm area. This then gave you the chance to follow up as the opponent lost concentration.. all good stuff.

Of course no system can claim to be the "Best". Judo and BJJ are imperative for an "All round system".

one of the best technical fighters ever. Some styles of escrima have adopted Judo in their Repertoire.
This is the way to go mix it up
