It's no secret that i voted for Hillary... But she didn't win, it was shocking to me but I've accepted it, moved on, and will stand behind President Elect Trump looking forward for hopefully a new kind of presidency and a better future.
I say this because I truly believe in the American system. The people have spoken and this was the outcome. Protesting is our right but at this point it does not do any of us any good, being angry, lashing out, saying you will not accept this result ONLY DIVIDES the country even further, this is not what we need now, we need to work EVEN CLOSER with one another.
I feel sometimes folks here in the US really don't realize how good they have it. I came from a country where elections were truly rigged, where if you spoke out against the president you "disappeared", where the president stayed in power for 30 years. The American system works... If you don't agree or don't like it then, buckle down, focus on your job, on your life, work as hard as you can, take care of your family, and guess what... In four years you get a redo! That's what's so great about this country.
America is already great, its the best country in the world, and I wish nothing more than to have Donald Trump succeed and make it even better... Because in the end, if he does succeed then we all win.
People keep saying they are ashamed of their country. I'm not ashamed, I'm proud that we have this system in place and I'm proud it works, and proud to have finally been able to vote in my first American presidential election. My candidate didn't win, but I believe America will continue to be the greatest place on earth and hopefully in four years it will be even better.
