Not sure he would have been podium.  In the 220s, in addition to Coops, another guy, Joe Cotton, in the 55-59yr old category curled more than Hanky (75.5 kilos) and a third guy, Jason Barnes, in the 50-54yr old category curled very close (74 kilos).  Maybe Jason Barnes would have tried heavier to make the podium.  I'd assume those guys were also in the open?  Also per Hanky's own post Waylon Jennings also in the 220s did 180lbs (81.7 kilos).  That seems to be 3 in the 220s that lifted more and one that was w/in 1 kilo of Hnaky's 75 kilos.   

Also, all were far away from Coops, so any of these guys could have pulled the Hanky heavy shoes and plate in the drawers maneuver and popped up to the 242s.  I think he may have been hoping for the 242s for a fallback, but he waited until he knew there was no one else.

The funny thing is if anyone else here entered this contest it'd be a simple result, no chasing anything up, nothing to be clarified etc. Same as the bodybuilding competition, it'd be a straight up, i competed and took this place....

I’m quite certain there’s a whole bunch of stuff Hanky is not telling us.  It took forever for all that stuff about score sheets and yelling at judges to out.  He probably pissed off and yelled at people to even be allowed in the 242s after he already weighed in the 220s.
