Imagine the back he could have built if he realized that he didn't need to go that high up :-\

because they are weak.  they are big because they are walking pharmacies. full ROM means a better workout.

Common mistake to confuse full ROM with a better workout and/or better work ethic. The problem with those guys is that they're not making much effort, not the lack of full ROM. Arnold favored less than strict on his standing curls.

Exactly. How many 300 pound fatasses can do a pullup? Same thing.

The Ronnie Coleman school of thought, is that "partials" or keeping constant tension on the muscle is better than working through a full ROM.
They will both work well, if you've been doing one for a long time and switch.

Well the tension is released at the full extension position and not at the top which is the fully contracted position so you’d have to NOT stretch out all the way to get constant tension. Vince Gironda, Arnold, Samir, Danny and others all advocated touching your chest to the bar. Ronnie has/had a better back then them but I don’t think it’s because of how he chinned.

Yates used a rather dubious version of rowing which i'm not at all convinced exerted anywhere near maximal tension, and had arguably the best back ever, so the whole theory that either full ROM or strict is essential is a joke. As i said, strict and full ROM are often mistaken as better by those who equate it with greater work ethic. Partials are in many ways as good or better, as illustrated by Arnold's preference for cheat curls, AKA partials in terms of full tension. Larry Scott a Gironda disciple didn't use strict form in some cases, and favored partials part of the time.

Agreed. Larry actually advocated a short range partial chin for the lower lats.

I'd say if you're shorter stature you can get away with less ROM but taller and larger, you'd need to use a full range. Just an observation.

Who cares? I'm sure someone could find HOURS of new Arnold footage if they checked out some of the deleted scenes from Pumping Iron. It's stored away somewhere I believe. Someone really needs to publish some of that stuff.
