How is Victor Martinez allowed to still compete as an IFBB pro?
« on: October 25, 2007, 02:20:27 PM »
I have nothing personal against Victor and think he has incredible physique, etc.
I believe he was convicted and spent time in a NY prison for a felony drug charge 2-3 years ago?
Wouldn't this violta the IFBB pro divisions own rules and guideline for being  eligible to compete as
an IFBB pro?  Just curious, thanks, Howard

It's called a double standard, Howie....

Priest competes for another fed, and he's suspended. Victor commits crimes left and right, and is rewarded...... :-\

Just because he is a good IFBB pro more attention should not be paid to his mistakes.  When Titus went to prison (first time in like 96) no one seemed to care.

This is NOT a personal judgement . It states clearly in the IFBB rulebook that what he and others like Titus are found guilty and convicted of doing will not be able to be an IFBB pro.
People complain about the judes not alwyas following the judging rules and standards, but none of the pros follow the rules for banned substances??? Am I wrong ? ???

The IFBB bends the rules on a whim....whichever bbs make for a good contest or whichever bbs are the "big studs" of the moment will be allowed to compete regardless of the "rules".

Let me make this clear. I think Victor is a good pro and I enjoy seeing him on stage.
However, how can we ever have any consistant JUDGING standard when all the other aspects related to the sport
( felons being allowed back, useing listed banned drugs, etc) are ignored or rules bent.

...and some wonder why the sport lacks a credible, consistant standard ? geeeeeeeeeeeeeeessssssss shhh
I accepted it was a crazy wonderful circus years ago and stopped taking serious who won what big pro show years ago. I enjoy the events and the physiques and could care less who wins.

You can't enforce standards in a semi-fixed contest.

The real fix is a complete of any rule enforcement of what the bodybuilders use to compete in the show.
NONE follow the rules to get ready for the show, the judging is a LOT MORE reliable than the drug use free for all of banned substances.

ha ha ha ha...WTF? DOES THE IFBB HAVE WINGS ON ITS BACK, A HALO ON ITS HEAD AND HARPS IN ITS HAND? HOW COULD A BULLSHIT AND CORRUPT ORGANIZATION SAY ANYTHING TO ANYONE ABOUT CRIMINAL ACTIVITY WHEN THEY ARE ENGAGED IN WORST THAN THE ONE THEY SPOTLIGHT?

If pro sports started banning criminals from competing the Dallas Cowboys would be left with one guy, the waterboy.  And even that's questionable.

Look, let me make this clear. I am a libertarian and if I made the laws , many drugs would be legal and that includes roids , HGH and related stuff. my MAIN issue is that the actual law says they are illegal and Victor was convicted and went to jail. I have nothing against Victor and respect him as a pro bodybuilder.
I am just curious as to why the IFBB has actual written rules and then enforces them in such a haphazzard fashion.
Why NOT just avoid having any drug testing rules or rules of conduct and just let the guys get on stage and judge them as is. Why pretend when everyone knows different, THAT looks foolish .
