There's a difference between a girl being Tomboyish and her being masculine. Masculinity is a male attribute that doesn't and shouldn't be the defining characteristic of a female (I'm talking physical features here and nothing else). Tomboyish girls can be charming and there are quite a few who can pull it off, by having short hair and such. But a girl who is masculine physically (body hair, gruff voice, huge ripped arms etc) will never be appealing to the majority of us straight guys - there's always a few schmoes who have that as their fetish, but not the average hetero guy like me.
