I start out with those, i find that not only do they help isolate the delts, they allow your shoulders to really warm up well before moving on to free weight presses, whichever kind you prefer.

We have two different hammer strength machines for shoulders (and most of the other muscles too) - some are the iso plate loaded ones, and some iso with individual weight stacks per side!

Enjoy both of them thoroughly!

Im adjusting my training and the other body parts are starting to catch up, people are starting to comment a lot on my other muscle groups, still a long way to go but I think Im improving.

What do you think of the delts, dont you think they are closing the gap with the arms?

I think my gym has something similar to that second machine you mentioned, its exactly how you described it but its from the life fitness brand (dont know if its the same shit as hammer strenght?)

I like free weigh presses too but with dumbells specially you just cant use too much weight because its very hard to execute the motion properly thats why I feel I get better pumps with the machines, I can load them with some heavy poundages and still isolate the delts pretty good. I used to be a big fan of smith military presses but now the machines are #1 for me.

Hater's gonna hate lol! Looking jacked as usual. Always favored the hammer strength for shoulders myself. I usually alternate it with db presses every other week. Def more effective than straight bar and safer if you're an advanced trainer. Purenaturalstrength put 4 plates to a side on the hammer press and we will see how easy you think they are, lady

What is nice about the hammer strengths is that it allows u to load on the heavy weight but not lose the isolation on the muscle.  With free weights, on muscles like medial delts, you really have to foucs on the squeeze and this sacrifices heavy weight

Hammer strenght is life fitness. same company.
Does anyone on here train with precor equipment like in golds venice? Or on the copied technogym line?
I find that the movement/flow and range of motion on the precor HS is inadequate and prone to injuries.

Saying that if we had a machine like that in my gym I would use it at the end for a pump.

why?

you think its the exercise(s) that causes growth or that free weight is better than machine?

Certain exercises build more strength.

I know lots don't care about being strong and would prefer to be big but i would much rather be 5% smaller but 5% stronger than vice versa.

Since I am the trainer and you are not I will teach you, free weights requires balance and they work the joint stabilizer muscles because machines dont do this over a period of time you risk shoulder injury plus because free weights work your core muscle you will get stronger faster than training with a machine.

Certain exercises def suit each person differently depending on your structure though, wouldnt you agree? I am not built for bench (6'2" long arms) it puts alot of pressure on my front delts and just doesnt feel right. I do all incline and upper is harder to build anyway. Now I could push the issue with bench and yes, my chest would grow but not optimally like when I just incline. I could never understand guys who juice from day 1 in the gym, how do they know what works for THEM? Obviously on gear you're gonna gain no matter what so where is the trial and error? I trained clean for the first 6years and knew my body inside and out before I finally went on. What kind of training do you favor? I have the potential for a build similar to you and you know your shit, no doubt
Title: Re: Holy sh*t... gh15 (again) dead on about Hammer machine for shoulders

yes free weights help the stabilizers group but then it also means you are not giving 100% to the main muscle group. With machines everything goes to the isolated body part you are focusing in. Both cases are usefull thats why I do both. Its like trying to argue whats more important to a car the steering or the wheels, both parts play a role obsiously,

That being said, the craziest pumps always come from machines, in any kind of muscle group, always machines, with very few exceptions.

nothing to write home about right now, three plates for bench presses and squats, and on the smith military presses too, around 10 reps all, been training more volume now. I think in one year I will be doing close to 4 plates each side if you consider the fact that I've been trainig for 1.5 year only after a 10 year lay off (worked out from 15-18 then started again at 28 last year) and will get more serious with the gear,

My arm workout weights are still crazy tho.

I watched a video of you doing some reps with like 350lbs very easily on the bench press I think, very strong, cant even try it right now.

And oh btw I have a national title in powerlifting in the brazilian teen category, been thinking about sending pics of the trophy and certificate to ron to get me updated to competitor status on the board  ;D

btw about the machines vs free weights stuff, once when I was working biceps with the barbell one gym instructor measured my arms at 49.7cm and then I switched to the same exercise but using the cross over machine this time (adjusting it for arm training) and then after 20 minutes max the instructor measured my arm again and the reading was 52 cm! That means 1.5 inch gain almost instantly, for pumps machines are no 1.

The plate loaded Hammer Strength make it easier for you to use more weight, on the DY Hammer Iso Row, many guys use 4-5 45lbs plates on each side for easy 10 reps, but not many guys do barbell rows with 405-495lbs.  You muscles do not know difference from machine to free weight to cables, but it does indentify with the load (weights) and more weights you use put more stress on the muscle which will increase size (if supps and food is on point)

Either you have the genetics or you don't. Hammers are good for isolation more than other machines but....it comes down to genetics. You could achive the same results with overhead BB or DB presses (and get one hell of a lot thicker)

all i can say is this ,,

if you are a bodybuild who can do 5 plates each side of the hammer 45s 5 plates each side for sets of 8-10....your delts are HUGE ,, period i dont care who you are ,, if you do 4 or 5 plates each side of the hammer for reps of 8-10 on a regular basis ....your delts are huge ,, they are one of your best bodyparts and ofcourse you are hormonized

yes ,, with delts is the hormones that make the diff,, but! i always talk abotu hormonized bodybuild this is taken for granted ,, what i meant is the weight on the hammer ...if you do 4-5 plates each side for good sets you are one strong mother fucker and have very big delts and very strong thick shoulders,,if you do it when you are 190lb or 200lb 5'10 ...6%....then you are not only strong and huge delts but also look like a million bucks but this is competetive bodybuild we talk about

and last meal I try to have no carbs but I always eat somthing "dirty", as long as I take some form of protein....eggwhites, chicken..

this is what i do lately..

And yes me too...on off days I try to eat less carbs...sometimes I fail to do so and I eat like shit....mostly out of boredom. ;D

A bodybuilder with great genes can look great with using any king of equipment but when it comes to the top5 in the world you need all the edge you can get, maybe that is why you never made it to the top of bodybuilding.

thats the problelm ,, i have,, thats how i discovered that being strong mean nothing in bodybuild,, most of bodybuild at my level were weak !! WEAK! only a small number of us were truly strong,, small number!
strength mean nothing in bodybuild ,, it only mean that you wil get admiration look in gymnasium from youngsters,, thast where it ends,, it also add to ego and make you able to wear all kind of superhero hats whiel training and nto look redicoulous lol

ya keep squatting come back to me when you fuck up your knees and back and eventually injure yourself

fucking retard it's RESISTANCE that builds the muscle you can get the same results actually better results since you're isolating by doing hack squat / leg press

freeweights are NOT a must... at the beginning fine but after u don't need them and you can work your way around it, it will prolong your bodybuilding and avoid injury

once you're injured you're FUCKED. very hard to come back, very few do if any

Been squatting for 35 + years and no back or knee problems except meniscus at 42. maybe you just don't know how train or squat.

And for all you lazy pussies here who love to train on machines, go watch a video of ronnie training and understand what it takes to be the best.
I hear what you're saying, but you can't compare people to Ronnie cuz he was just that much more of a freak.  He'd still be 8 time O if all he ever did was machine stuff I bet.

He's right for the most part. I know it's bodybuilding and isolation is the goal but before machines (the ones of today) were invented bodybuilders were bigger, thicker and much stronger. When you do a barbell or dumbbell bench, when you do a squat (not with smith) etc, you have to recruit other muscle fibers to assist in that lift. Take away the drugs of today and you have smaller and weaker bodybuilder. You can't train mostly on machines and expect to be "huge".

They were stronger because they had years of foundation, they didn't hop on all the drugs and blow up too quick like nowadays.  They did their groundwork.

its funny like 2 months ago I didnt have any horizontal veins crossing my biceps, now they are everywhere even when Im not pumped. the BF on my arms must be a couple of % lower than in the rest of my body easily. And Im thinking about checking BP as well because lots of people suddenly started commented on my veins maybe something aint right lol

and oh as you can see zero SEO on those puppies
