Genetics trump everything in sport but of course you can increase your power.

 Power often gets confused with strength but it's a separate entity yet somewhat related. An example of this is a power lifter who can squat 700lbs but he can't jump up and touch the basket ball rim. That's a guy who is strong but has no power. Power is how quickly you can release strength and it's one of the most important athletic attributes. I have seen heavy benchers punch the heavy bag like a woman yet see a guy who can barely bench 225lbs hit the bag like a gorilla.

To increase your punching power hitting the heavy bag is one of the best exercises. Also with time hitting the bag you will train your body to hit the bag with your whole body instead of arm punches. A devastating punch comes from your whole body through a complicated interplay of kinesiology using a lot more muscle than your arms, delts and pecs. Some misinformed say use the bench to increase punching power. You would be better off using the clean and press from a kinesiology stand point.

Good post Rich. when you look at the training from say Masutatsu Oyama (Kyokushinkai Karate) and a small guy like Bruce lee. It makes you think.

I value technique more than raw power, ofc if u got both it's a win/win. But most who have power are always sloppy with their technique. 
If u see children boxers throw punches u think they have power, but it's because they learned the proper technique to throw a punch.
