Danny was unlucky not to be crownwd the 81 Mr O & Lee Labrada was leading into the night show in Chicago before losing out to Lee Haney.. The only drug tested Mr Olympia !

Two of the greatest physiques to ever grace a bb stage. I've heard Lee Labrada speak in past interviews and the guy is very well spoken with alot of knowledge of aspects of the industry. Labrada makes the best MRPs ever. I've never heard Danny speak so I'm really looking foward to hearing from him and definitely about that controversial Pumping Iron situation and Franco Columbu win.

I would love to hear Danny's comments on the 1980 and 1981 Olympia's as well as what he did to become so damn RIPPED in '81.
I would like to hear Lee's comments on the state of bodybuilding today in regards to choosing mass as the main criteria, the backward trend of creative posing routines and the decision of the IFBB to abandon drug testing after the 1990 Olympia.

Sounds like an outstanding show, I really cant wait to hear what Danny has to say especially about his condition for 81 and how he felt about the results of that show, thoughts on the top five finishers at that contest and his training style. Cant wait to hear it.

because only Lee won in MiddleWeight that year!

I just became a MONSTER Padilla fan. I vote to make him the official GetBig mascot. What a legend. The dude ate Arnolds Victory Cheesecake, he got robbed of the 81 Olympia title, and he got banged in the rear when the judges took away the NOC title. The coolest golden era bodybuilder ever. His Joe Weider impersonation seals the deal. The best interview ever. Did anyone know that Demillia named him the giant killer?

The judging was over (or so he thought)...he actually had enough time to get off the stage, get back to the dressing room area, and start showering when they decided they needed to see more comparisons...

Chick, In the beginning of the Labrada interview you mentioned there being two Phil Williams? Are you sure of that? I don't remember there being two. Were you thinking of Jeff Willaims?

There was some similarity in their interviews. Both guys were very disillusioned from competition after Labrada's loss in 1990 to Haney, and Danny's placing in the 1981 Olympia.
Very similiar in their experiences and reactions.

great interview with Padilla, Bob.. I was glad there weren't any Arnold q's directed at Danny and not too many Haney questions directed at Labrada. It shows respect to the guests that they don't have to be continually be in the shadows (pardon the punn) of the dominant bodybuilders of their respective era's.
