So my other best friend texts me Tim’s dead. He tried calling me last night and I didn’t answer and he called a few times but didn’t leave a message or text me. Now I’m sitting here alone waiting for a visit from his ghost asking why I didn’t answer the phone.ive been friends with Tim for 30 years, he had a very bad drug problem for years so I would talk to him and see him maybe 2-3 times a year just cause I don’t like that shit but now I feel bad. Just rambling on a Friday night prob sounds stupid. Just a weird feeling is all. Anyone ever have a situation like this?

This happened to a girl that I know. A few days ago, a male friend sent her a text saying that he was suicidal. She was out at a bonfire with her fiancé and did not respond to the text.

Well, the friend wasn’t bluffing. His body was found yesterday.

She is very upset because she was forewarned in a text.

PS: You could not have known !!!!! You did nothing wrong.

Yes... ive been there. Shit feeling. Really an empty feeling because he was there and now he isn't but you can't play 'what if?' And you can't go back and change anything. So don't do that to yourself.

Be good to yourself and just think about the good times you had with your bud when he was at his best and forgive him for when he was at his worst.

Thanks everyone, appreciate the input and well wishes. Took an edible for the first time in quite a while and just laughing about shit we used to do with my other buddy. Family is away for the weekend so just enjoying being baked and waiting for his ghost to appear hahaha.

My first death of a close friend was a college classmate who was a broadcast tech who worked for NEP in Los Angeles with the nickname "Falcon"...He just stopped answering his house phone...after a few months trying now and then I got through to his widow who told me what happened.

I have had a close friend in high school smack his Mach Mustang head on into a concrete truck his freshman year in high school...But Falcon was different, he didn't have an fatal accident...He got sick and died of lymphoma.

Has anyone noticed that this is a subplot in "Top Gun Maverick"...Someone you knew as a very young person gets sick and dies.

I’m sorry for your loss Rob.

There are many “good”, or maybe relevant, shared experiences here.

You can’t own this, it’s natural to think you have some responsibility but I guess the only take away is dont beat yourself up. Mourn. Grieve. And remember the good times.

I know this isn’t the real world but we are here for you…

I've experienced plenty of death . It happens when you get older. The sadness dissapears quickly, then i remember all the good times. A celebration of the persons life should be happening, not misery.

Sorry to hear, Rob. I've had quite a few close friends die young. Life is brutal. Keep focused on your walking for a few days until that initial feeling of gloom subsides. Walk a little longer and faster and focus your thoughts. I always turn to running.

I had a mate I hadnt seen for years, a mutual acquaintance phone me and said he wanted to come and see me
I said Yes and arranged for them to come the Friday night
They didnt show

He killed himself Friday afternoon.

2 years ago, the Godfather to 3 of my kids decided enough was enough. It was strange, because although he had a very stressful job he was always very happy. Then one day that was it...

It's natural to wonder if you could have done anything, men are born problem solvers. But try to do plenty of the laughing and reminiscing that I see you mentioned above too
