Forearm pain
« on: February 06, 2014, 06:23:48 PM »
Any of you guys ever have any serious forearm pain?  I started a 30 burpees for 30 day challenge and started getting a shin splints type feeling in my forearms then into elbows. That started about 4 weeks ago and now my right forearm feels like it is going to snap anytime I put any pressure on it. I'm a 600 raw bencher and 225 made my arm feel like it was gonna snap last night.

Then today cutting my omelette at Bob Evans just the pressure of cutting a knife through my eggs that pain was so bad I dropped my knife on my plate. The Doctor said it seems like Tennis Elbow but referred me to a specialist to get MRI or Bone Scan to check for stress fractures.

Anyone else ever have this shit going on? I'm hoping that it may just be a severe case of Vaginitis and I might need to rub some vagisil on my hymen shove it back in my pussy and Man the Fuck up. but I guess it is better to be safe then sorry!!!!

Just looking for some help from you assholes!!!

The egg/knife thing makes me wonder if it's a pinched nerve or something.

That or the Vagasil  :D

Just ask the 86 year old waitress to cut your eggs for you.   If she wants that 75 cent tip, she'd better comply.

Had it for several months. It sounds like tennis elbow to me, which is pain on the top of the forearm and lateral elbow. If pain is on the bottom or flexor part it is golfers elbow. The shit really is a pain to work around. The forearm band helps take the stress off of it some and ice helped some. It just get inflamed  from overtraining.

My extensors have been in brutal pain for over a year. They are knotted up and tight all the time. Require constant self massage and arnica oil to even function. You might need some serious deep tissue work from a professional and a break from shit that hurts it more in in the gym. For me it was a break from side laterals, hammer curls, things like that. Now my left thumb is basically locked forward all the time.

I get this curling with a straight bar instead of a cambered.  I use cambered exclusively now.

c5, c6 and c7 vertebrae damage. disc bulges and impinges on nerve. its possible to lose the tricep, bicep and forearm completely.
i lost a major chunk of my right tricep. the forearm pain was incredible. had 2 discs replaced. forearm is usually c6 mostly.

get to a CT scan and MRI asap before it becomes worse.

sounds like you have micro tears  / tendinitis.   What you're describing sounds painful so they are more than "micro" tears.   It will take a lot of time resting to heal.

I had that "shin splint" feeling in the forearm. It hurt to "let go" of the barbell at the end of a set.

It from not keeping the wrists rigid. Obviously burpees put your wrist in a bad position when you hit the ground.

I had to take 3 weeks off from training. 3 full weeks. Then I was back to 100%

This.

The only sensible and effective way to recover from this is to NOT TRAIN upper body for at least a few weeks. I had horrible tendonitis after any heavy type of barbell curl, and felt like my ulner was going to break from the release in tension when I let go of the bar, luckily for me my training partner at the time was a physio so he told me to not train and it went away 100%.

Just seen a ortho doc and it is my Pronate/Supinate on my Extensor muscles of the forearm. He did not rule out stress fracture from the amount of weight I train with. I have a MRI for next week to look further into everything for torn muscle, tendon damage and stress fractures. He thinks it is very badly strained muscles with the possibility of some tearing but not a full tear. He is also concerned with blood not being pushed out of the muscle cavity and creating dead muscle.

Also my elbow is full of arthritis and bone spurs and when he tried to straighten it all the way out it felt like I was in an arm bar. Where my radius and ulna come together at the wrist they are off set where they should sitting, flush mine are not. He said probably due to the years of beating myself up with heavy weight.

The doctor was cool as shit and and we even shot the shit on lifting and benching. We will see where it all goes from here!!!

You're too big (heavy) for that as this time. You're not pressing up (as in bench) you're slamming all of your weight down on your forearms, wrists and shoulders. Seriously, find an alternative for the time being.

Example. If I have an overweight client, I'm not going to have them do a single leg squat or lunge. Instead, I'll have them do a step-up. Little if any stress on the joints.

Yeah Coach it only took me 19 days into the challenge to realize that :)

Hope that since it was the jarring action of the burpees that brought it on, quitting them will get you good again.  I've never moved anywhere near the weights you did [warming up] but have had some joint/tendon/bursa issues that cost me several weeks.  They always came good with rest.  Wish you a good recovery, Wolfe.

Mine ONLY hurts when doing barbell curls. Straight bar is too painful and the ez bar is better but still hurts. The pain is in my left hand and shoots up the left forearm.
