Obama should use the time allocated for the debate to address the American People
I'm sure Obama would be willing to address the nation with no rebuttal from the opposition
-
I love how the republicans are spinning this as McCain is putting the country first, as if he has the financial experience to fix this mess.
Its just an easy way of escaping the debate.
-
no way the debate goes through if mccain decides to flake on us
-
McCain just handed Obama an hour (or more) to make his case without any rebuttal
fucking brilliant
-
an empty podium next to obama = death to mccain's presidential hopes.
NT
-
I predict McCain will show up
He'll do horribly and then blame it on Obama
just a guess
-
Good idea Strawman, since Obama is too chickenshit to have a townhall debate with McCain, he might as well do it on his own.

Yay! Even though I'm not an american I was actually scared of Mccain winning. But it seems like Mccain is digging his own grave in a fashion that I could never imagine. This is kinda entertaining. The last few weeks have been brutal for Mccain and the booom from Sarah Palin is only diminishing. Obama is just gonna look so much better. Give it a few more weeks and Obama could be a certain president!

Bush showed up for the debates while attempting to run two wars
What's McCains problem?

Obama never agreed to do townhall debates. He offered one on July 4th, but Mccain declined.
Mccain agreed to do the debate, then backed out. Simple as that. A man of his word, huh? Looks like he takes debate contracts about as serious as marriage vows.

Excellent point.

I think McCain made his point.

Coach, just of curiosity, what would Mccain have to do to get your disapproval? Where do you draw the line?
If you disapprove of Mccain at some point it doesn't mean you have to like Obama.
Just want to know where you draw the line.

John and Cindy must both fling copious amounts of POO at poor Coach and Coach must allow the POO too harden and for the flies to trail him for a full 12 hours while Coach shouts "I love Obama," and "Obama is my Messiah" on the streets of mid-town Manhattan.
Surely that woud make you drop your support of McBush then, right? :-\

Coach used to shit on mccain every day on getbig. called him a lib.

In 2007, he changed positions on most issues right before the debates. Just like that.

Obama "changed" on a lot of his issues also to look more moderate.
Do you think they really changed or do you think they are doing it to get elected?
I know your not this naive.

Just becasue McCain wants to do town Halls doesnt mean obama has to follow his orders... they both HAVE to do these debates.... Im tired of this shit too.... McCain doesnt get what he wants awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

Looks like our hard chargin' POW left his BALLS over in 'nam. He better stop acting like little a bitch on her period and man up for these debates. NO EXCUSES. McBush isn't going to do shit but take a photo op in Washington, so he better haul ass to Ol Miss while doing a cram session so he will be ready for the debate. Barack is going to clean grandpa's clock.

"The fundamentals of our economy are strong." --McCain
'Our Entire Economy Is in Danger' -- Bush

Coatch, that's so stupid, I can't believe you are standing by this. Ok, am I actually hearing this right? The NORMAL debate, McCain chickened out?
-
Clinton doesn't view it this way:
We know he didn't do it because he's afraid because Sen. McCain wanted more debates," Clinton said, adding that he was "encouraged" by the joint statement from McCain and Sen. Barack Obama

LOL... total reverse psychology here.
"we know he isn't afraid..." introduces the possibility to the viewers that perhaps he IS afraid.
It's like when Hilary was asked if Obama was Muslim. "No.... as far as I know" ;)

You're giving him too much credit.
I didn't watch any news last night, but skimmed a few posts - is the debate on or off at the moment?
-
There's no good way to spin this.
If I have this correct according to McCain, he will not debate this week b/c he has to concentrate on the economic problems facing the country.
1. What if Obama pulled this shit? Any McCain people think he should be cut some slack?
2. McCain, you are just a CANDIDATE...you are not president. There are no executive orders you have to decide on.
3. Does any McCain supporter understand how weak this makes him look? Or is showing weakness a sign of inner strength which liberals could not possibly understand?
240 was correct. Bush the Lesser showed up for his debates...sure he was wired and gave feeble answers and was pummeled thoroughly by his opponent...but he showed up.
-

The debate organizers and Obama say they'll be there.
Mccain - who canceleld to go back to washington DC - still hasn't showed up to help with the bailout form. They're almost done with it - the finance senators who have been working on it. Mccain is still giving a speech for his campaign, at 9:30 AM this morning on CNN.
-
2. McCain, you are just a CANDIDATE...you are not president. There are no executive orders you have to decide on.
He's also a SENATOR, and it IS his job to be involved in this stuff.
Yes, it's a political move. But you would think, by now, after seeing the original Palin bump, that empty moves DO actually have an effect.

But this move could seriously turn sour for Mccain.

As could any.
McCain has to make bold moves. The current regime made him start this thing 4 steps behind.
The reality is, he wouldn't even be in the game if the Democrats weren't such political f-ups.

Not surprised especially after his BS stunt kind of back fired on him.

I think part 2 is also in the bag
Just wondering now how he'll blame his failure on Obama

If he wants to find a stupid baseless slanted way to blame Obama all he has to do is call Coach ;D

What is with you dumb republicans and a town hall debate? And Undeducated McCain spewing lies isnt gonna hold up agaisnt a Harvard Law Grad... Again, JUST becasue MCCAIN wants something doesnt mean he GETS IT. They agreed to 3 debates a LONG TIME ago...
