i need to get some new boss sport shoes, but not sure which ones
i found these on-line and i think they're not bad, but i'd like some opinions or maybe suggestions if you know of something better
cheers fellas

These are solid kicks. I have them in black with white stripes. They are fairly comfortable but the toe area is a little narrow so be sure they fit your feet right. The leather is very stiff so it took a while to break them in and I got a couple of blisters when they were new. Overall good for the gym, and also look good with jeans.

thanks man
i've got narrow feet, so that should be ok for me

if you're looking for sneakers, addidas has the "zxz" line which is has about a million different variations. its a good basic design, but almost all of the variations are unspeakably ugly because they always have to fuck something up. it's almost comical, actually...
this is one of the better versions i found through a google image search:
I have three pair: a red/black one that looked awesome online but irl looks like shit from some angles; an all white pair (which i also got online) that looks good except for this incredibly gay criss cross pattern on the sole that ruins everything; and a purple-ish pair that i think is called "zzyxz" which is hands down the best and best looking pair of sneakers i've ever had, but i got them a long time ago and can't find any trace of them on the internet.
im looking into some new balance 501s, but after my online buying fiasco with the two pair of zxzs, im a little hesitant.

To be be honest dj, I don't like them :P
The other ones posted are downright terrible. I wouldn't wear those to mow my lawn.
Are you specifically looking for blue ones?

I agree! You can hardly ever go wrong with Pantofola D'oro. I'd say buy those and get it over with 8)
I assume they are not meant to exercise in though? Because they aren't good for that. You're better off with one of the sports brands in that case.
-
So you aren't going for the classic white velcro's to blend in with the polaks dj?
-
If you really want to be a man-queen, Just Cavalli has a nice pair for you, €320 though :P If I had already worked for a while, I'd buy them in a heartbeat.

not really, i'd rather draw my fashion sense from the cool italian fellas, but there aren't so many of them around these parts :'(

Pantofola d'oro and Munich are my 2 favorite brands. Both are relatively expensive but they are stylish.
Just look at these Munich's:

He's an "adult" (aka - jailed in his own perceptions of what a person should dress/act like as an "adult". Very strange state of mind, but for each his own..).
Out of these posted I'd buy:

WTH? He is looking for some nice kicks, not something that will get him kicked in the head or laughed at.
Sambas, or Nike's indoor soccer shoes (the ones with the neon soles), Reebok Classics, old school Sauconys, adidas running, or Nike Waffles in diff colors, or any of the various lowtop Chuck Taylors---which
never go out of style.
Thank me later, or check out SOLE magazine.

Shape wise most of these "shoes" are a danger to the human eye.
The cock and forza shoe seem ok, though latter one looks like a chicks handbag.

If he needed a pair for exercising, of course these wouldn't be suitable.
But laughed at, why? And besides, who cares? People will laugh at or with anything. That is, the type of people da_vinci has mentioned several times now at least.
I hope you're not advising him to walk around on the street wearing a pair of these?

If you want dope style, you go Air Max 95s, in a myriad of colors...or Jordans---because everybody recognizes Jordans, and can be a talking point ("I had the Jordan Vs"). Or Air Force Ones, all white or all black with white swoosh. Or all white reebok classics. You want a "clean" look, something that shows that you're stylish, yet pays homage to the old school.
A clean look never gets laughed at---like ties, stripes and patterns never go out of style.
With shoes a clean look and a great colorways is the way. Just look at a Nike's Air Presto...the shoes are the shit. Great colorways (infinite) very comfortable, and very stylish.
Those other shoes show a "I'm trying too hard" vibe.
And no, not those. There are these Nike indoor soccer shoes, all black, but with a swoosh on the forefoot, and bright neon sole.
The ones you showed would be good with baggy sweatpants or jeans.
No, not those, although those are

Judging by the shoes he buys and asking other dudes about the colors and brand etc I would say that dj is the type of fella that spins at the Blue Oyster on sat nights.

It's somewhat of a consensus that Americans have no taste, and your shoe advice confirms just that Parker :P
Air Max'es are worn by marginal, lower class people here in Europe. The same with the other shoes you mention. They are shoes worn by people on welfare :D
You seriously think these Air Max 95's are better looking than any of the ones I posted? They are absolutely horrible looking!

dj181: Because I care for you and your well being, promise me one thing please, never ever take clothing or shoe advice from Americans, only from Europeans, I think both da_vinci and me can give you good advice so there's no need to listen to other people on this board :D
In real life: consult homos, they generally have good taste.

Have to agree here, Air Max 95's, TN's and 97's are usually worn by purveyors of low quality cannabis resins

Americans are known to going out while wearing some unwashed/worn out shit and being PROUD of it. In Germany for ex. - if you see a female that's dressed like shit and generally looks messed up, with unwashed hair, worn out jeans, etc.. 9 out 10 chances are - she's american, the same goes for guys, tho' guys seem to be more stylish than females. To take a fashion advice from american it's like to take advice on steroids from J.Genova.

It's something I've systematically noticed throughout the years. Whether it be clothing, shoes, cuisine, cars, ... many Americans seem to be stuck in the Stone Age.
Even something as basic as bread, there are hardly any or even no bakeries in the US. They buy their bread in supermarkets and from what I've heard, the quality is terrible.
I don't want to generalize too much though, I'm sure there are Americans who did evolve and have developed a fine taste.

Tastes vary---but those shoes that posted were tasteless...they look like someone with some cheap cologne would wear.
I mean, it was diesel that set the tone for shoes like that 10 yrs ago---and said companies (the ones who make those shoes) bank on some poor soul (sole) to spend money on gaudy shoes just because of the name.
Let me put it like this---since this is a bodybulding board---you hook up everything like how Cornier looks...nothing out of place, symmetry, style, class, aesthetics.
It's simple really. Remember I said it's the colorways that really set things off...
BTW, when Euros come over here, one thing that they are amazed about is our portion of food. We fat Americans know how to eat.
Now where are my Air Kukinis?
**da_Vinci, it's the colorways that set off the Air Max 95s---you get a dope colorway and yes, they are better.
-

Tastes vary yes, but I believe taste is definitely objectifiable. My taste in sneakers is good, the ones I posted are stylish and have class (as far as that is possible for sneakers of course, they are still sneakers).
The ones you posted lack both, even though they are about as expensive as mine. The ones you posted, one should only wear to actually play sports with. And even then, I would make other choices. There's no way you can walk outside with them and not be seen as a low(er) class fool. Just sayin' 8)
I like you Parker but shoes are just not your forte ;D
Portion sizes are indeed a lot bigger in the US. The whole "bigger is better" mentality is yet another thing America is regularly mocked for.
-
I wear these to the gym. nothing crazy but I'm 47 years old, you DO have to make some concessions to age in your wardrobe choices..or you look like a pathetic boob who's trying to be 15 years younger than he is
I have to agree a bit with the assesment of Parker's taste in sneakers...his Black is showing big time.
of those other sneakers posted, the more sedate ones are quite nice..those pantofolos are pretty cool, but a few of them are horribly loud and juvenile looking, and very gay.
There are some cool american sneakers, and if you broaden your horizons and look at some hiking shoes, you can get some very cool looking and unique footwear that every other dickhead isn't rocking, and they are indestructible.
i have had my Merells for 5 years and they still look fresh

I agree that some are gay looking, but I kinda like that. In a way, it's cool to wear "gay" stuff when you are not gay. Women also seem to agree.
I've had this happen more than once: girl makes a gay remark like "those shoes you're wearing, are you sure you aren't gay?", only to follow up with a compliment about the shoes shortly thereafter :D I'm sure da_vinci will have had exactly the same experience and problably more than once as well.
I applaud you for liking the Pantofola's, there is hope for the US 8)

I'm actually very sucessfull at playing down my muscles/being jacked by dressing stylish (for some it's "gay" by default).. It's like - "This fella would look like a threat, but his clothes are nice... hmm.. maybe he's not just a steroided douche?" and so it goes...

Did I just read that right? It's cool to wear "gay" stuff even if you're not gay, but only if a woman agrees with it?
Man, were is your sense of self?
Look, I believe you can rock what you want to rock, but don't do it for the sake of some female agreeing with it. Because next you'll be wearing Vickie Secret thongs because some woman ways she likes seeing it poke out the back of your tight jeans.
Many shoes you can rock in the streets, the club, or gym. Like those Japanese designed Pumas that you can only find on eBay.
And the op had shown a pic of a retro Adidas, so I took it that he wanted retro, so I went from there. Nothing beats Nike Air Force Ones for clean and conservative or Reebok Classic Tennis. Also more uptempo but can be worn in the streets or club look to Nike's Air Affect IIIs and Nike Series 6F, both in black or white colorways, with alternating swoosh in opposite color.
For gym/street go with Adidas The Field and Adidas T6 Night David Beckham. These have the retro running shoe look, although be careful for the heel in the latter.
I used to collect sneakers, of the "unique" variety. So, knowing different aspects of different colorways, and looking for rare or unique shoes was a habit for me. Back in college, I used to work at Footlocker, and then
another shoe place. I learned how to hook up outfits (especially for women), and one learns that you don't hook up an outfit so any one thing stands out. The shoes must compliment the outfit and the person. Much like when dressing up, the shoes are suppose to match the belt.

You read it entirely wrong, I wear what I want to wear. The fact that women generally like my choice of attire is of course a plus. The fact that mostly men find it gay, is again a plus. I'm not gay so them thinking the wrong thing is just plain funny.
I don't know US clubs but if you arrived at one here with Reebok or Adidas shoes, there's no way you'll be allowed in :)

Reebok classics:
they look like shoes for handicapped people.
You guys can't be serious about these being cool sneakers ???
Thats because many don't know how to rock them---again Colorways. There are many different colorways for these shoes. And they are big outside of DC...
What I specifically was referring to were the Reebok Classic Club Cs. A clean look like the Nike Air Force Ones. Green, or black stitching and come in black as well.
one can even rock the all white or black K-Swiss with the D-Rings.
And no, most clubs don't allow sneakers---but causal clubs and bars may. Or going to a function...

Those Reeboks are OK. I can live with them ;)
But less classy than Pantofola's or other non-sport sneaker brands.

Gayest shoes I have ever seen , no offense Moen , they look like something Mike Tyson would wear , if he was gay of course.

To be be honest dj, I don't like them :P
The other ones posted are downright terrible. I wouldn't wear those to mow my lawn.
Are you specifically looking for blue ones?
LOL

Sneakers are, by definition, low-class "sports brand" type shoes. "Fashion sneakers" are, again, by definition, an aberration, which is exactly the reason why all the shoes you've posted have been unspeakably awful and laughable. It's like women's bodybuilding -- women can't become men just by pumping themselves full of hormones. What would make a man more impressive just makes them more hideous. Similarly, sneakers can't become excellent footwear just by jacking up the number of colors, lines, and emblems (until your eyes want to bleed); it just makes them look absurd.
For this reason, the best looking "most fashionable" sneakers will always have an understated and restrained, even "unfashionable" look. The ones you've posted look like someone let an insane child (the very definition of "no taste") have full veto over the design department. I disagree with Parker about Nike's Air Max line for the most part (not sure what all of the billion+ iterations look like), but he has the general idea right.
All the high-fashion posturing "Euro vs. American" shit coming out of your mouth is HILARIOUS given this thread.
And che is completely right, of course.

You've got to question your taste (or lack thereof) if you think these are "are OBJECTIVELY the best looking shoes posted in this thread".
There must be yet another Euro-American difference because over here, all the ones you Americans posted are called "sports shoes", while the ones I posted are "sneakers".

It's okay, I've noticed this before. A lot of Europeans seem to love haywire, obnoxiously loud and grotesque designs. Most "high fashion" sneakers follow the overloaded running-shoe design patterns that are made, with their many colors and textures, to appeal to children... coincidence?

Again with the price... nothing to do with looks.
The purpose of any "fashion" is to signal your status to others. $400 sneakers signal you have money the only way they can, by being as "eye-catching" (i.e. eye-abusive) as possible. The reason this doesn't work with sneakers is that sneakers are inherently a cheap product that were intended for playing sports and consequently being damaged and worn out fast. They are primarily sold to children, so they have very colorful and silly designs. As you have clearly demonstrated by posting these abominations, the only way to "stand out" in the sneaker world is to crank up the colors, lines, etc. even more, thereby becoming even more ridiculous looking.
Contrast this with "dress shoes" where more expensive models signal the intended message through superior materials, craftsmanship, and increasingly subtle design.
just compare this shitty $150 calvin klein dress shoe
(http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu341/mothmag/High%20Style/pCKI1-4935173v275.jpg)
with this $1000 aubercy

Notice that one doesn't have to plumb the depths of retarded gimmickry to convey "superior fashion" in this case?

There's nothing wrong with them, but compare "ultra-luxury" shoes to "luxury shoes" in this case, then compare "luxury" sneakers to regular sneakers, and you can see my point. All fashion is largely bullshit, but at least in the former's case it isn't complete bullshit -- it's not the case that the more expensive class of shoe is actually uglier than the cheaper class.

No one would say shit... I agree they're not the best choice, though.
Anyway, this is a tiny distinction. Your original post on sneakers proved you're entirely incapable of distinguishing the point between "effective" and "desperate".

"Effective", "desperate"? You may be overanalyzing things a bit. I can't speak for others but I buy (and wear) stuff because I like it, not because of a message I want to send out or any of the other things you've mentioned. Most of the stuff I posted wasn't even that expensive ;)

Convenient how all the stuff you "just happen to like" comes from premium clothing manufacturers.
Gayer than "i work out for myself, not for anyone else!"

::)
That Aubercy is a whole-cut shoe, meaning a single piece of leather which is extremely hard to do and the leather has to be flawless. Next, the dyeing is hand applied, reduced, re-applied, reduced, repeated over and over to get the effect. In person, you would not see the red highlights as much, only in the certain lighting.
The shoe is then hand burnished which can take easily up to 100 hours plus to get it right. The entire thing is bench-made and the inner is goodyear welted on a custom last.
You obviously don`t know anything when it comes to shoes.
-

Buy some Aubercy's then, you won't have that problem. You might even end up wearing them to wash your car or mow your lawn :P

Ferragamo`s Tramezza line is the highest quality, but those are not it. Some of the Original Line are well made, but many are made of very thin cut leather. The Studio Line is pretty much garbage and the soles are glued and not sewn.
I hope you are moisturizing your leather, polishing and waxing on a regular basis and using shoe trees. Most people destroy their shoes and do nothing to them, but wear them.
A good pair of Ferragamos should easily last you a decade before you have to re-sole them. They should last a lifetime if properly cared for. I doubt most are willing to do that though.

A classic example of how it works, da_vinci and I know it all too well.
Nothing wrong with some kitchy Spiderman t-shirt. Just make sure it's a decent one and not a merchandise-version for Spiderman-nerds :P

This thread is an example that americans have a very dofficult time when it comes to clothing. Sports shoes, these white, bulky bottom, etc.. they are worn by, as Moen said - people in the wheelchair, or old fellas with cargo shorts, etc.. (we talk - public wear here, afaik).
And brands, prices, etc... I'd buy a 30$ shoes instead of 3000$ if these would be the ones I like. It's not the case with some people tho'.. Some assume - if the shoes, shirt, pants are expensive (and of a known brand) - they MUST be fashionable and stylish. Lol.. I would wear converses over these horrible looking leather shoes with red shades any day, and I couldn't care less about the price.
But - let's not forget taht this is a board of bodybuilders.. This group of people has been known to be a horrible dressers for quite some time already (too lazy to post the example pics), and I notice that not just in US, but here in Europe too, to some extent (amongst other bodybuilding fellas).
These t-shirts are cool. It's not just about the patterns/pictures, etc.. but about the design of how they fit a body too. These should look really god on an athletic body.

they're completely different types of shoes, meant for different purposes. why would you even think to type this? aside from this, the rest of your rant is obviously in response to my post, but totally misses the point... good grief.
also these feiyues are not bad, except for the EXTREMELY OBVIOUS fatal flaw: a gigantic brand name scrawled across the side... and you say I have no taste, lol!

Simple and cheap ones but cool nonetheless, Feiyue Delta's:

Where is Da-VInci's Hair???
-
I don't know about him but the only hair to be found on my body is a 0.4mm stubble beard on my face.
I use this baby:

Sometimes I also trim my head hair at 1mm, otherwise I'm bald.

Maybe da_vinci? Go4it possibly. Half this board is probably secretly using one but you know how they are, they don't want to be seen as a fagg0t ;)

I'm not sure what's "bronzing", but I like my skin pale/natural color.

No, it shows that people who wear these clothing, either have no fashion sense, or want to stand out like a sore thumb, and believe that they avant garde in fashion---atypical with a Emperor Wearing No Clothes complex---it's everybody else that doesn't get it. Yet when you come to Latin American Countries---you know the ones where there is large sex industry, the women laugh at the funny shoes looking men, especially the ones with red shoes (and possibly hitting on trannies---wonder why?)
this is just like the zoot suit wannabe gangsters vs the conservative suit wearing gangsters---the real shotcallers. One thinks he's all about style, wearing over exaggerated shoulder pads, way baggy pants, and loud colors. While the knows that the man looks like a buffoon and wears a nice tailored suit, with a hint of color on his ties.

yeah.. Latin american countries are flocked with people that know fashion (and are generally very educated in a wide range of fields ::) ).
Once again - the shoes you posted (was that you, anyway?) are for old people or these who are really out of touch with any kind of "style", sorry, but that's the truth. Come to France, Germany, etc.. look at how many great dressed people walk around, young and old, and yes they DO care about their appearance and it's not a "sin" or a thing to laugh about (when in US not caring of how one look is almost a "proud of" state of mind).

Question DV,, You ever BEEN to the US?
you seem to think that what poor people in Ohio wear is what everyone wears.
Come to Manhattan, LA, Seattle, Miami, Chicago, Phoenix ...and take a look around, plenty of very high end people walking around dressed to the nines.
From what i can tell... Euros are brand name whores, the bigger the logo slapped on something, the "cooler" it is. and there is a place for that, but it's not the only way to dress and look good.

Both groups are overgeneralizing, I think the point is that you'll find more shitty dressed people in the US, relatively speaking.
There are well dressed people everywhere, just as there are badly dressed people everywhere.
But some of the sneakers posted by Americans in this thread were truly horribly. White sneakers, apart from a select number of models, are always a no no! (for non-exercise use at least)

one of the "elite euro fashonistas" ???
I clearly said I don't care about brand, image, ... You have poor reading comprehension cephissus. Could you make a conscious effort to make this the last time this happens? It's a bit annoying really.
Also, those shoes, while very kitsch, are quite cool. But once again, if you had read correctly, you'd know I don't actually have them.

lol, I have poor reading comprehension? Let's clear the log out of thine own eye first, shall we brother? ::)
where did I saw you "actually had" these shoes? and yes, you've been pushing the "euro vs. american" shit this whole thread, and your criticisms are often on the basis of "welfare this, welfare that". Notice the quotation marks around "elite euro fashionista," meaning it's not meant literally -- in this case an exaggeration to communicate my point: you piggyback on the stereotype of the superior euro fashion sense to justify your ridiculous selections.
maybe you should finish your degree before trying to bust balls on "comprehension"... of course it won't help.
also: don't care about brand, image ROFL get the fuck out mo "please don't show me any sports brand" en
