And also an unnecessary calorie bomb! :o

not at all.

Oh, and for the people that don't like protein powder, they are just mad that no matter what they try they remain small so they have to bash every supplement, diet, and training philosophy.

maybe some of them are just jealous because they can't afford buying supplements. That would also explain why some people seem to live of them, either they can buy real food or supplements.

Well go tell Arnold and Sergio that you have a "shake" as a breakfast and they will probably laugh their ass off.

it seems that these days everyone is a genetic freak with Mr. O winning potential.

and to maximize their great genetics they carry around

1. pre-work out shakes
2. mid work out shakes
3. post work out sakes
4. Gallons of water
5. Standard Animal Pak stack in fanny pack
6. Muscle tech latest and greatest.
7. Wazy maize, dextrose, kre-ak
8. ZMA before bed.
9. tapout tshirt
10. weight belt

it would be interesting to compare the average lifter from 30, 40 years ago to today and see the difference.

Well, that shake might be good for a bulk phase but holy shit, there must be almost a thousand calories in it! :o

The quality of the protein I use is top; it's my friend's own company; everything made in Germany and Switzerland. :)

That answers my main objection to protein powder if not dieting.  There's a lot of dodgy stuff out there though and most of us don't know the manufacturer personally.  We have to rely on the maker's honesty (hahaha, usually) and the effective enforcement of government truth in labeling laws (if such a thing exists in the supplement industry).

Even so, I like the idea of whole foods.  Supplementing a shake a day is harmless but most people abuse it.  I've been guilty of falling into the convenience trap myself in the past, as have many Getbig bros, I bet.

you are right, I took it to the extreme to prove my point about the need for protein powder.  It is my contention that the average gym rat will not see any appreciable difference by using protein shakes.  But since we are living in an age of excess "high quality protein powder" is needed to enhance our genetic gifts.

Some people here even say you shouldn't consume it at all? ???

Discuss...

Protein powders are a piece of the "Stomach Bloating or Abdominal Distension" puzzle / epidemic that plagues the "sport" of bodybuilding.

Water, corn syrup, maltodetrin, caseinates, surcros, canola oil, vitamins and minerals....

Why not just grab a can of tuna/chicken breast in springwater for a 15-30gram protein 'hit' instead of the bloat guts caused by protein powders???

I think we all have done that at some time, the problem is, canned tuna comes only in one flavor: canned tuna.

I ate tuna straight out the can, with vinegar, tomato sauce etc etc for years, now only opening up a can of tuna makes me want to puke.

I only use whey powder for protein these days, it just is a lot cheaper period.
If real food were the cheaper choice I probably wouldnt use powders anymore though.

About the too fast digestion: I honestly think that is a plus rather than a minus for whey powder, with steak I always have this digestive burbs coming up all day long etc. If you're only awake for 16 hours a day and take in a lot of protein I really see no use in something that needs half a day to fully digest (and that would be only one meal)

= much less strain on your digestive system using powders

Wouldn't lie to ya DK.

Lemon & pepper
Sweet chili
Sundried tomato and basil
Thai curry
etc

Heaps of flavors.  Can't remember many tho.  Haven't had one in quite awhile because... it's still tuna.

ok, that sounds good. However, what about artificial flavors, sweeteners, sugar or fat in that ones?
hey have tuna in tomato sauce in cans over here, but it tastes like shit.
