By that I mean in comparison to say Lee haney, Arnold, ect ect. Pros chests today seem very flat and almost deflated to me. Anyone else notice this?

Because delts are much bigger these days being a favorite injection site.

Some guys today have bigger delts than pecs in the pro ranks.

they used to accentuate the chest in all of the poses during the iron age. they didnt care about what any of the other muscles looked like in the side chest, they just positioned their bodies in a way that made their chest seem the thickest possible. pro's today accenturate the arm and deltoid much more in the side chest pose.....had ronnie ever hit a side chest in the same manner in which arnold and the irong agers hit a sie chest, he would fucking demolish every single on of them in that shot.

Two Little Volume...

Arnold trained his chest 3 times per week, and did 30 or so sets...

It's a combination of two things.

Firstly, delts and traps, and arms are bigger today than they were in the 70s and early 80s due to improved drug regimens.

Secondly, when you're looking at side-chest comparision shots, the bodybuilders from that era did them slightly differently, puffing their chests out whereas todays physiques concentrate on showing the arms more, and contracting the chests which draws them in.

guys today carry way less bodyfat on stage thats why off season all chests today look great on season they lost so much of it

This is a pretty simple answer guys, it's because waists are bigger, it's not that chests are smaller, a bigger waist gives the ILLUSION of a smaller chest.
