Congrats to all my fellow Yankee fans.

I'm really hoping Matsui is back, and I felt that way before last night.

Thanks, b88 for the thread.

It's great. Now we can watch the Ravens get blasted out of the first round of the playoffs! Hurrah!  ::)

No problem dude.  The 2009 Yankees might have the best infield of all time.

We were just discussing that the other day.  I think it's pretty realistic, especially if Posada is included in the discussion.

At 4-3.......I wouldn't mind nabbing a playoff spot, period. And by the way, my team didn't lose their first playoff game last year....yours did, jerkoff!

Those Giants are kicking some ass though this year, huh? ;D

Sox are going to sign Lackey soon...awesome move.  I heard they are going to make a big move with Buckholz for Adrian Gonzalez.

Beckett, Lester, Lackey, Dice K and Bucholz would be a very nice rotation.

It's a great rotation.

I'd be very surprised if the sox can pull off a trade for Gonzalez.  Jed Hoyer is SD's GM, and he has the same valuation system  Epstein has.  He won't take anything but a really good haul.  I don't know if the sox have or are willing to part with what it would take to get him.

I think they just signed Cameron, so, in all likelihood, no Bay.  Who knows though.

I'm really bummed that the Yankees let Matsui go.  I just really liked rooting for him.  He's a cool player.  When I found out it was for only 1/6.5, I got pissed.  If that's all he cost, why not sign him?

I've always said the Yankees wouldn't spend this off season, but the lack of a move on Matsui makes me think they may have another move in them.  If it's Holliday, I'm estatic.  If it's Damon, not as much.

Wha?  Do you have a link to this?

I don't doubt you, but it makes little sense to me.  Fifth starters aren't usually even necessary for the first five weeks of the season, and often skipped.  I don't think the sox are spending 16.5M per year for that.

Plus, Lackey's arguably Beckett's equal and much better than Matzusaka and Buchholz are.

Hope he's a better pitcher then last time around.

If you look at his first half of 2004, he was very good.  Then he completely f'd up his mechanics and couldn't throw fastballs by anyone.

He seems to have corrected it.  Look at the numbers he put up last year and in 2007.  At worst, he gives you more than 200 innings over better than Andy Pettitte type pitching.  At best, he's better than Lackey.

Either way, it adds compete stability to the rotation, and now the Yankees can still slowly develop Joba and Hughes instead of relying on them to pitch 175 innings each.   They got him for nothing, prospect and player wise.

The question I know have is if they're going to do anything for LF.  I don't see them going with Gardner.  If Damon comes down to 2/15, he could still be an option.  Maybe Nady?  Not sure.
