Title: Honour's Log "Back in the gym"
Post by: Honour on May 28, 2007, 08:37:27 PM
Hey all  :). So after making a few changes at work (less pay but less hours) I will finally have time to join back at a gym near me. Up until a few weeks ago i was working close to a 60 hour week and just did not have time between raising my kids and work to justify joining a gym, after all i would only really get time to go on the weekends and i just couldn't justify spending $50 (AU) a month for a few workouts here and there. Those with a young family will surly understand this  :).

For the past few years I have been working out at home with the following equipment (shown in pic).

Basic Power Rack
14kg Adjustable Dumbells
Adjustable DB bench
EZ curl bar

This is the general program I have been working off with slight changes here and there. I usually like to use the "Push/Pull" method eg Chest/tri Back/Bi. I feel that i just dont get fully rested if do say Chest/bi on day one and then Back/tri etc on day 2.

Day 1 Chest and Tris

Pushups (3 sets to Warm up)
Dips (3 sets to failure, normally about 30+ reps)
Incline DB presses (3 sets of about 20 reps, remember i only have very light weight to work with)
Bench dip Drop sets (3 sets with added weight to Failure)
DB kickbacks (3 sets of around 10-15 reps)

Day 2 Back and Bi's

Bent over BB rows ( 2 warm up sets followed by 3 work sets)
Wide grip Chins (3 sets to failure, normally about 15-20 reps)
Close grip Underhand Chins (3 sets to Failure)
EZ bar curls (3 sets 8-12 reps)
Seated DB curls (3 sets 10-15 reps)
Concentration curls (2 or so sets to finish off)

Day 3 Shoulders and Legs

Side laterals ( 2 sets to warm up)
Seated BB (EZbar) presses (4 sets assending to failure)
DB side laterals ( 3 sets 12-15 reps)
DB front raises (3 sets 12-15 reps)
Squats (3 sets of around 20 reps)
Lunges ( 3 sets around 15 reps each leg)

These are my cold measurements atm
Height = 5'9 1/2
Weight = 77kg
Arms R=15 L=15
Waist = 32 1/2
Chest = 41
Shoulders = 43 1/2
Calf's R=15 1/2 L=15
Quads (note i have taken these from a scar on my leg so that i measure at the same point every time, so this is by no means the biggest part of my quad, its really just for myself so i know how I'm going) R=17 1/2 L=17 3/4

Before people start to bag me out :P keep in mind that with the equipment I have had available to me I have done the best I could to make my workouts as tough as I could. Motivation when working out like this is always a problem as well. The hardest days where always shoulders and legs, just trying to manover the weights into position to be able do do things like shoulder press and squats was quite hard in itself and sometimes more than a little dangerous when fatigued. To be honest I think that what Trap development I have is more due to trying to get into position than to any actually excesses i have done for them.

Due to the lack of weights, reps have always been quite high, so I am hoping that when I hit the gym the added weight and lower reps should shock my body into some decent changes over the first few months :D.

My eating is normally very clean and i will be trying to up my protein a little as well but generally I will be keeping my diet high in protein with moderate carbs and low fat.

As for supplements I basically take a Protein powder twice a day along with some multivitamins etc. I may also get some Glutamine and add some Flaxseed oil etc.

I am fully Natural (at 77kg if i wasn't there would be a problem  ;D) and have no plans to change that till the make it safe, legal and cheaper  ;), but I have no problems whatsoever with people who chose to go on the "gear" either, the way I see it we are all brothers in this game  8).

Well there you have it. I know that i have a long way to go and i really just have what some may call a swimmers physique atm, but i hope to be able to add quite a bit of muscle over the next year or so. I'm actually really excited to get back into the real deal and start throwing around some heavy iron and to get back onto a BB bench (oh god thats gona hurt for the first few days ;D) I'll try get some pics from the Gym I'm joining and post a few pics of my progress as I go along. I'll start to list weights and reps as well but I'll probably be a little embarrassed about my poundages etc to begin with so go easy on me ok 8). Any comments or sugestions are more than welcome  :).

Anyway thanks for reading....

Peace  8)

Cheers mate, I was a bit hesitant to post this here but i figured what the hell, i hope i will look back one day and laugh at how skinny i was. It will also give me extra motivation as well which is always a good thing. I figure I'll add another pic every month or so and hopefully see some changes. Thanks again  :).

very few people have the sack to post here. Your only motivation should be your own and no one else's. Sounds like you've got your shit together man. I'm curious to see how it works out as well! STICK IT TO'EM!

First Day back at the gym today, man I have a long way to go  ;D. I found that it is going to take me quite a while to get my body back in the swing of different excesses etc. Bench felt really awkward and i kept weight waaaaay lol  :P. Just felt weird on my shoulders and as for the first few weeks i think ill play it safe and just get the flow back before i start to up the weights too much.

Chest/Tri

Pushups (3 sets warm up of 20 reps)
Flat BB Bench Press (3 sets of 12 reps 50kg) Yeah i know i know  ::).
Incline DB presses ( 3 sets 10reps with 15kg)
Hammer style Bench press ( 3 sets 10 reps with 50 kg)
Dips (3 sets 20 reps)
Tri pushdowns Rope ( 2 sets 20 kg i think it was)
EZ bar Bench Press ( 2 sets 30kg)

Felt like a bit of a tool with the girly weight but I'm being fully honest with the weights and my measurements etc that I'm listing in this Log  8).

BTW the Gym is fantastic, quite hardcore, no aerobics and junk like that. It's called "Spartans" and i joined with the....wait for it...."300" deal  :D hahaha.  I'll post a few shots here soon. TBH there is a lot of gear that I'm not 100% how to use, but i guess it doesn't really matter to me as I'm more of a free weight kind of guy anyway ;D.

Day 2 Back/Bi

Wide grip Pulldowns (3 sets to warm up)
Chins (3 sets 15 reps each)
BB Rows Underhand (3 sets)
T bar Rows (3 sets)
Cable rows (3 sets)
EZ bar curls (3 sets 12 reps)
DB Alt Curls (3 sets 10 reps)
DB 1 arm Preacher Curls (2 sets 8 reps)

Hmmm feeling really wasted on Bi's by the time I got to them. Not used to all the new equipment to play with on back and am thinking that I may have to switch to a Chest/Bi routine instead. I'll have to think about it I guess.
Bought some Glutamine and Flaxseed oil today. Am thinking of leaving the high protein low carb behind for a bit and adding some more carbs to help with bulk.
Darn I love this new gym ;D.

Day 3 Shoulders

Seated Shoulder Machine press (4 assending sets to warm up)
Seated DB presses (4 sets 10 reps)
DB side laterals (4 sets 10 reps)
DB front raises (4 sets 10 reps)

Not a bad workout was quite quick but felt pretty good. Was a little shaky on the DB presses but probably since I have not done them for a while ;).

LOL i really feel i need to bring up my shoulders, I feel they are my weakest body part. I had a shoulder separation a few years back playing football and to be honest I'm always a little worried about it. I think from here on I'll be going to smith machine presses instead of DB's till i feel a little safer. But at the same time i probably need to do the DB's to build some extra strength in the auxiliary muscles to support the area.....decisions decisions ::).

YEP! Which is why I do dumbbell presses after my barbell benching. I had a bad shoulder injury last year and now I've worked my way back up but don't want to risk the little "helper" muscles. So I always do dumbbell work to make up for what I miss with teh barbell.

I have Rearanged my Split as the old one was just not giving me enough rest and i just didn't seem to have the energy to work Bi after Back and Tri after Chest etc :-\. Here is the new split.....

Day 1  Chest/Bi
Day 2  Legs
Day 3  Rest (if needed)
Day 4  Shoulders/Tri
Day 5  Back
Day 6  Rest

I have been using this for the last week and it seems to be going quite well. Just feel like i have more energy to use on Bi's and Tri's. I'm also finding that the amount of rest I'm getting and the time between each Muscle group getting hit is just right. I'll keep track of it and see how i go.

On another note I was feeling quite strong on chest this week and started moving up the DB rack a little, still not going to go nuts but am feeling quite good :). Back was a little sloppy this week tho and I just couldn't get a great pump, but i think it's more because i was just tired from lack of sleep on back day.

Here is a pic of the gym that I'm at atm, i think one of my probs on back day was because i was trying out some of the rowing machines etc ;D.

Will post my workouts and weights again next week once i have my routine down a little better ;), just so many differant equipment to chose from, i'm not used to it ;D.

Yeah the Gym is really good, best one I've ever been too tbh, not that many hardcore ones down here. If ya get a chance take a quick pic of it inside there for us Wicked.

Chest today (I'll do Bi's tomorrow as i had to drop by work)

Pushups (3 sets warm up)
Flat BB Bench (warm up 50kg 20 reps, 3 sets 10 reps 70 kg) Felt a bit better on the bench today, not as wobbly and didn't feel to bad, could have gone heavier.
DB Incline Press ( 3 sets assending to 70p)
Dips (3 sets of 25 with pushups at finish)

Felt quite good today, extra food is helping. May try to up the BB bench next time as I felt like i could have done more but I'm still playing it safe :).

Legs/Bi's

Squats (2 warm up sets. 3 sets 15 reps......50kg :P. Once again I'm still getting back into leg training so I'm taking it slow)
Leg extentions (3 sets 15 reps)
Lying leg curls (3 sets 15 reps)

EZ bar curls (2 warm up sets. Then 2 sets of 10 reps)
Seated Alt DB curls (3 Drop sets of around 15-20 total reps, felt real good 8))
Preacher curls EZ bar (3 sets 10 res to failure)
Concentration curls (1 set to finish off about 8 reps)

Good workout :).

Yeah but put it in perspective a little....I'm squatting 50kg atm :P, its not exactly killing me ;D. I could do more but at this stage im going small gains week to week. But tbh as i take in more food i feel a lot more energy in the gym and am feeling much better than when i was just High Protein etc......the added carbs help a ton energy wise :).

HAHA yeah no shit. The carbs, especially when I started eating alot of them, make you feel like you could rip the doors off a car! Do you eat them at certain points throughout the day or just take them in whenever? If you can do more weight? Why don't you?

Yeah i only really eat my carbs in the morning to give me some energy for my workout then i back off after lunch. The times that is hard is about now, it's 10:30 pm here now and I'm sitting watching the rugby on TV and am hungry as hell ;D. Going to have 6 eggs i think to tide me over. Feel like a pizza or something though lol ;D.

Yeah i am moving up in the weight, i am just being real careful atm. I'm pretty paranoid about doing an injury so I'm taking it slow. I just have not worked legs for a couple of years so it's hard as hell atm ;D, going to try to add like 10kg a week to my squats and take it from there 8).

HAHA! I remember my first leg day back in the gym. I did ONE SET OF SQUATS and thought I was going to die. I like how you train with your brain too which very few people don't. Taking it slow and steady will ensure you make solid gains injury free.  Once you start seeing warning signs you know it's time to sit back and take a look at what's going on and prevent it from continuing down the road to a possible injury.

Shoulders/Tris

Seated machine press (3 assending warm up sets then 3 work sets 8-10 reps)
Lateral raises (3 drop sets about 15-20 total reps....nearly killed me ;D)
Upright rows (3 sets 10 reps)
Tri pushdowns (3 sets 10 reps)
Scull crushers (3 sets 8 reps, these felt great, haven't done them for ages but will keep em in from here on)

Very good workout. Need to take a pen and pad to write down weights etc as i can never remember once i get to the computer 8).

lol yeah squats are the best, thing is i feel so wonky and awkward atm that i think i need to just take it slow for now till the stabilisers kick in and give me some support and control. Meh all in good time ;).

Man I thought I was the shit when I hit 225 for the first time on my squats. Just like any other exercise, you've got to get used to the movement before going up in big weight. Want to talk about feeling wonky, you should've seen all the moving and shaking I was doing when I unracked 500lbs. It's just not my time yet.  ;D

Ok so here is the rack that goes the highest in my gym, they have 170s:o that are on the floor but they are just a little out of my range atm ;D. There is another Rack with the 100's and 110's on it as well.

Below is where i was when i started back in the gym at the end of MAY for my Low incline Presses.

And Below is where I am now. Nothing to really brag about I know but I am slowly moving up the rack 8).

I'm going to keep posting this pic whenever I move up to another Set of DB's that I can handle for 8 reps or with good form. Of course I know I won't be hitting the 120s etc anytime soon but I just plan to slowly but surely keep moving up the rack and hope that my body responds with some added muscle along the way.

Chest (Soooo cold today, had to ride the bike for 10 min just to warmup)

Pushups (3 sets warmup)
Flat BB press (1 warm up 3 work sets 10 reps 70kgs, will move up another 10kg next time)
Incline DB press (3 sets of 10 reps 55s)
Dips (2 sets of 25 reps followed by pushups to failure, felt very good, I'll look into getting some hooks to add some weight for next time)

Not a bad workout, still a bit wonky on the flat bench but feel i will move up on DB's next workout.

HAHA love the pics! I wish my gym had dumbbells that went beyond 125. Apparently they seem to believe that anything over that isn't worth having because no one would really use them that much.  ::) :(

Bi's

Very cold here again today, rode the bike for 10 min to help warm up a bit.

EZ bar curls( 3 sets 12 reps to warm up, used about 60-70 i think it was)
Alt DB curls (2 sets 10 reps with 45's)
Alt DB curl Drop sets (2 sets started on 45 for like 8 reps then did 4 reps on 35's then same on 30's)
Alt DB curls/Hammer curls (2 sets 6 reps/6 reps)
DB Concentration curls (2 sets 8 reps using 30's)

Just felt a good pump on the DB's today. The gym was quite busy but i had a rack to myself so i just kind of stayed there and blasted my Bi's and music at the same time ;D.

Legs

Squats (3 warm up sets then 3 work sets 12 reps with 70kg)
Leg extentions (3 sets 10 reps)
Leg curls (3 sets 10 reps)

Wanted to just sit in the squat rack for a bit today and get a feel for it. Moved up from 50kg to 70 kg so i felt pretty good about that...slowly but surely :).

AHAHAHAH! whatever you douche, I'll give you 6 months til you're shopping on the other side of the rack for heavier weights. I wonder why they do that too though because our gym does it as well.

lol yeah i know what you mean by that...like when you spend 5 mins walking around the gym looking for that other 45 db or something ;D.

Yeah i am actually very happy with the gym I'm at atm, feel like I'm really starting to see some growth. Even some people at work that I haven't seen in a while said they think I'm looking bigger. That kind of thing always makes you feel good 8). Decided I'll wait a month and post some progress pics etc, I hope there will be a decent change ;D.

Haven't posted my workout for a week or so as not much has changed. Feeling great though and will post again next week once i push the weight up again. Think I'm going to enter the MrGetBig for some fun and motivation. I'll keep on bulking for the next month then give myself about 8 weeks or so to drop the bodyfat a bit. Not going to try to get shredded or anything 8) but I'll just cut some carbs and add some cardio and see how i go ;D.

Oh McDonalds  ;), We tend to call it Maccas for short, i think you guys call it like Micky'Ds or something ;D. Had a tripple cheese Burger and a shake, i think it was all the fat in it that made me feel so crap :'(.

Yeah I'm gona go in it and see how i go, I don't want to slow down my mass building too much so I'll keep bulking for a month or so just add some cardio in the mornings or something. I know I'll get smoked and have no shot at winning but i like the push it will give me to keep eating clean and push myself in the gym. All for the fun of it, i may even get some posing trunks hahaha.....actually i may have to think about that one ;D ;D ;D.

Well i was pretty pumped anyway  ;D.

1x60x12
1x70x10
1x85x10
1x85x9
1x85x8

I just felt real good on the 70's and thought well why not go the 85's instead of the 80's as I felt really strong today! 85's were a good jump from my last workout where took it easy and still did 70's. Seems my body may have just needed a little break to come back and keep the progress rolling 8). Very happy though ;D.

Dips
1x27
1x25
1x23 then pushups to failure

As icecube once said, "Today was a good day" :D.

Did shoulders today and afterwards i went into the change rooms where they have a couple of big mirrors in there. It was quiet in the gym as it's a Sunday (seems to me it's usually only the hardcore that come on Sunday's and that suits me just fine) so i whipped off the shirt and hit a few poses. One of the bigger guys at the gym happened to come in at the time and saw me and thew me a compliment saying i have put on quite a bit of muscle pretty quick :). I said thanks, but i kind of think he may have been implying that i was using or something, i took that as an even bigger compliment 8).

Yeah i know i know ;D. Workouts are still going great and i think i should do some measurements etc soon and compare to when i started a couple of months ago. I'm actually getting a little pain in my right elbow joint, in the front of the joint. I think i may have pulled something a little when i didn't warm up properly on Bi's the other day. Going to put some anti inflam cream on it and lay off Bi's for the week i think :-\.
Title: Re: Honour's Log "Back in the gym"
Post by: Honour on July 26, 2007, 05:07:42 PM
Ok so i have been down in the dumps a little for the last week or so, turns out the pain in my Bi's was a small tear that is driving me crazy >:(.  At first i thought it was elbow pain in the front side but as it got worse i went to a physio mate of mine to let him have a quick look, turns out its a small tear in the lower part of the Bi. He says its nothing to bad or anything but i just have to take it very easy and drop all my weights way back, even on things like chest etc as the Bi's act as stabilisers on those types of things as well :-[.

Being Winter over here i know i did it on a cold day about 2 weeks ago when i was in a rush and didn't warm up properly, live and learn i guess ::).

I'm going to use this time to up my cardio a little and maybe just leave out Bi training for a while and just stay very low weight and maybe some machine work for back till i feel it's good to go :). Going to try turn this into as much of a positive as i can and hit legs harder as well 8).

Legs

Squats
 (kg's)
1x50x15
1x75x15
1x110x12
1x110x12

Leg Extentions

3 sets 15 reps (good burn)

Lying Leg curls

3 sets 15 reps

Did 30 min of cardio with the missus before hand as well which was a good warm up.

Tried a little biceps to see how it felt but was still very sore so i just did some cardio....just have to take my time. It's just so hard to not be able to do anything when you are all fired up and looking at the DB's and Plates etc staring at you....I will NEVER not warm up properly again >:(. It's like my Back Chest and Shoulders are screaming for some Iron but I can't give them what they want....... :P.

Quit testing those biceps! :P :D HA! I've got something seriously going on in my elbow. Any sort of direct arm work for bi's or tri's kills me so I'm laying off them for awhile AND YOU SHOULD TOO YA MONSTER!  ;D  I like the pain but DAMN! You ever get it looked at? And how are you liking those squats? Legs blowing up? I think you should put more into your squatting instead of just hand full of sets. The little squatting I've done this year, already has my quads rubbing holes in my underwear...

or maybe it was the taco bell from the other day. EITHER WAY!  ;D LOOKING GOOD IN HERE MAN!

LOL yeah it's just hard to lay off the arms and stuff, i guess you know what I mean with your elbow, hope that comes good btw. You have been lifting quite heavy and upped the weight a lot over the last few months tho Wicked, prob your tendons etc having trouble keeping up with your muscle mass or something!?

Yeah man I'm thinking so. I might take a week off after I'm done with PCT and just let my body relax. Since tendons and such take about 8-10weeks to respond vs muscles taking only a few. I can easily see how they'll have a hard time always catching up with them which leads to injuries. Tomorrow I'm doing an arm day for the fuckers that think I'm full of shit! LMAO! I've been feeling pretty spry lately, so I'm going to give it a go. If it starts to hurt after a few exercises I'll stop. Do more on the squats.

I kind of felt a little twinge i guess you would say, kind of weird i guess. Wasn't like it was painfull or anything, just a weird feeling in the arm. I kept working after it...yeah dumb move i know....but I just didn't realise i had done anything wrong at the time ::).

Heres a pic i took in the locker room at gym today. My abbs look a little funny as i was only half tensing i guess and my lower abbs look non existent, I think my bf% would be somewhere around the 17-20% or somewhere around there. I'll take a better one when it is quieter. Feel like a bit of a dick taking pic's in the locker room ;D. Oh I'm not really that ugly either girls....but it is a Sunday after a night out ya know ;D.

(http://www.i-imagehost.com/uploads/23ecc52fb8.jpg) (http://www.i-imagehost.com)

I have managed to add a bit of muscle over the last few months and am quite happy with how i have been going but my Bicep tear is really shitting me :P. I'm hopping that I will look ok come the MrGetbig as I know a lot of the other guys will have way more muscle than me and be more cut to boot. I just want to do my best and not embarrass myself. I know I look "ok" compared to someone that doesn't work out but I am nowhere near where I would like to be. Hopefully next year i will be able to bring a better package and add some more beef before i try to diet down and loose half of it 8). All takes time I guess :).

Back

Lat pulldown

5 sets 15-20 reps

Chins

3 sets about 10 reps per set. (Went very wide on these as it seemed to be easier on my Bicep).

T-Bar rows

3x12x70 (kept weight low)

Close grip machine pulldowns

3 sets about 20 reps (low weight)

Not a bad workout as i didn't get too much pain in my arm but still got a decent pump in my back. Funny how when you have to you can really focus on the muscle group you are using 8).

lol nah mate i don't even really have any veins in my Bis, from time to time you can see them but they are nothing like yours :o. I think I'm way higher than 10-11% I think it just looks that way because of the light in that pic or something. Ya gotta remember My Bi's are only just around the 16" mark atm, if Genetics where on my side I'd be looking at the 18-19 mark ;D.

Shoulders

3 warmup sets
3 work sets 8-10 reps

DB side laterals

3 drop sets (have to hold DB's closer to my body with arms bent a little to prevent pain in my Bicep :-\)

DB bent laterals

3 sets 15 reps

Nice little workout, no real pain in Bi, but i didn't really push it too much either and my weight is down again. But all in all felt pretty good :).

Man if you keep it together and tighten it up with a strict diet a month or two out from the Mr. Getbig and learn to pose to your strengths, you shouldnt' have any problem doing well. I tell ya what the worst part about trying to cut calories etc like i am now is that its 11:00 pm here atm and I have the munchies real bad :P. I just made up some chicken breast and had that but I'm still hungry darn it ;D. I so much like the bulking part of Bodybuilding where ya can pretty much just eat whatever and whenever you like ;D.

Chest (Light day)

Pushups  (warmup)

3 sets of 25 Flat/Decline/Incline

Flat BB Bench

2 warmup sets 15 reps

3 work sets 6-10 reps

Incline DB press

3 sets 10 reps

Dips

3 sets 20-25 reps

Easy day as I was feeling a little tired. Seem to be getting so hungry and am finding it hard to stick to the diet. May have a bit of a cheat meal on Sunday then get back on track come Monday. New respect for guys that compete....cutting is way harder than bulking ;). Bicep was playing up a little bit yesterday and that was one of the reasons i took it easy today. Hate the way i still cant work Bi's, i can notice they have lost a bit of size...but I'll get it back 8).

Here is a pic of my back atm, not sure how i feel about it though. I think i need more thickness in the upper back as it looks a bit flat, but it could have been the way i was posing and I'd like to take some more pics etc. Tbh I thought my upper back was better than that :P. Width is getting there i guess and lower back is showing some signs of improvement. Not overly impressed with the pic but i think i could bring it out more with some posing practice etc. Need a tan as well ;D.

lol hey mate, yeah been a bit off track since i did the arm. I know its just a state of mind and all but when you are making good gains for a while then all of a sudden you drop way back, it kind of sucks some of the momentum away from you :-[.

But on the bright side i did back today and the bi held up quite well, didn't do any chins or bent rows though which are both my favorites but i got a great pump and felt really good.

Back

Wide grip pulldowns: 4 sets assending

Seated cable rows: 3 sets

Bent row Machine thingy: 3 sets

Machine underhand rows: 2 drop sets

Not a bad one all round and no real arm pain :).

Here is a pic i took after my workout again today.....
I feel like i have gained a little hardness but not really where i hoped i would be, this diet stuff is killing me. It's like some days i wake up feeling really off and others quite on, I have no clue what I'm doing tbh ;D. Just kind of experimenting etc to see what my body likes etc

Below is a pic i took a few weeks ago for comparison....

I think I'm geeting there but just have some stubborn fat here and there, time will tell i guess :P.

Shoulders and Tris today....

Seated Shoulder machine press: 5 sets assending

DB side laterals: 3 drop sets

Dips: 2 sets 25 reps

DB overhead extentions: 2 sets 12 reps

Cable pushdowns: 3 sets last one was a drop set

Have to say it was a short but quite intense workout, great pump in the tris 8).

looking outstanding bro! Your waist has shrank all to hell! That's only after a few weeks of dieting? I'm starting to cut back down again and taking it seriously. I want to see abs again. I'm tired of having a great over all build but soft gut. FUCK THAT! Keep it up man! You know you're not working hard if you're not leaving blood on the floor! BRING THAT SHIT BABY!!!

You decide if you're doing the get big contest or not?!

Thanks mate, still trying to figure out how to keep the diet consistant, my eating is all over the place atm due to a slight change in my work schedule:P.

You decide if you're doing the get big contest or not?!

Oh yeah man I have always been doing it, bicep or no bicep ;D. I think it's Rowdy that was deciding to do it or not :D.

Hey Honour, how's the contest prep going?

Also, what placing are you aiming for?  A few have dropped out, but there's also some unknowns who's pics I haven't seen  :-\

I reckon you're in line for a good place.

Thanks for the props mate but I'm not really in it for a place and figure i will be in the bottom few if not last 8), lets just say if I am not dead last I will truly be happy ;D. I have just been using it to keep me on track with diet and stuff and for the motivation. I have never really tried to diet before so it has been hella hard ;D.

Tbh I think i dieted too far out as i have been looking quite good for the last 3 weeks or so but have been cheating lately on some extra food etc and have lost a lot of condition, so hard to stay at a certain level for a long time. I think its all about timing etc with this diet stuff.

Ahh it's all about learning i guess and I'll use it to come back better next year :).

Thanks again bro 8)

Yeah mate dieting is pretty shit.  I tried to start last week and noticed a pretty big change by friday, then the weekend took me back to step 1.  :(  It's been just a big game of trial and error for me, but I'll learn from my mistakes.

Keep it up mate :)

Pic i took at the gym today after a light back workout (still can't do much because of the Bi :-[ )

Epic old guy in the background getting changed ;D

I still need to cut a ton of fat, as i look ok with my shirt off but no-where near ripped or anything :-\. Oh and i kind of need to get a tan real bad ;D.

LOL at the old guy!  ;D

I'm jealous, your chest looks a fuckload better than mine.  I can't do any true pressing and I guess my chest development reflects that  :-[

Looking lean man, I wouldn't say ya need to cut "a ton" of fat.   But i do agree about the tan  :D

Diet is going ok, keeping carbs quite low and dropping the amount I'm taking in all around. Trying to keep water intake high as well but i normaly do that anyway. Trying to follow a similar style that Jrod uses, but not as hardcore as I'm a bit of a weak shit ;D.

Hey :o, Wtf are you talking about, my hair is like a chick magnet......my mom told me so ;D ;D ;D

Yeah I won't be ripped in the sense of the word but I should look ok, my Bi's are my real problem though I think. It's funny they used to be my strong point now they are one of my weakest :-\. I do look a bit like a swimmer i guess but I can hope they look at my shape etc as a plus and not just say "look at the skinny guy" ;D.

All up i have to say I am learning quite a bit about diet and stuff though, so whatever the outcome I am taking some knowledge away from it.....oh and I get some "special" stars ;D.

Honour - If I did not have to be impartial I would give you a compliment ;D

Definitely get tanned for the contest. You will be dramatically surprised the huge difference it makes to the appearence of cuts/leaness etc. Not sure what they have there in Oz, but get yourself a stage specific tanning product - Protan, JanTana etc. A few layers of that and it really makes a difference....

Thanks CQ I appreciate it :). Yeah tbh I cant even find any Posing trunks :o so I'm not sure what I'm going to wear in my pics. There is a Tanning salon with that spray on stuff a few stores down from where my office is so I'm thinking of going in there on the weekend and getting a dark spray and see how it goes. Thanks again  :).

Dude I'm so natural it's not funny lol. Lifetime Natural, but I love it that you even asked ;D

And thanks for the compliment mate, only been back at gym for about 5-6 months now but I eat quite well and I think that helps a ton. I'm 32 now but I think back to when I was younger If i had ate good food instead of junk and not been out every night for years I could have been so much better ;D.

Honour, the spray tan thing is "ok" and makes a good base - but it isn't like the best ever. Not to rant on but I would not even dream of competing without proper stage tan - and I am a step ahead as I got that god given 'tan' ;D

Although the spray tan is definitely better than nothing and does help, it makes a GREAT base for stage tan basically sets you up for the 'perfect' color....nothing works like the real deal. If you can't find posing trunks/tan try pm'ing BiggerBusiness and/or TheMessiahofMuscle and see if they can point you in the right direction. Both in your area, cool guys and have been in this 'game' for a long time......

You did a good job with your physique  :) Are you from the US? Also, I wanted to know if you could let me post some pics from this thread over on the pictures forum (or gossip forum). I wanna make a thread about all the contestants involved, since I was curious to see their progress myself I thought it'd be cool for everyone to be upto date and aware about the contest.

Thanks for the tips CQ I know you are trying to help and I fully appreciate it 8). I just have never hung in the competition world so to speak so I just don't know where to get this kind of stuff. I guess I figured I was going to get wasted in this comp so I didn't want to go all out if I was in 20th place ;D. But I guess if we only get 10 entrants....that gets me a top 10 place :D!!!

Light Back workout today, energy seems to be really low, cant wait till next week to start eating again. Am hoping to make some good gains in the first month back and put some bulk back on. Thing is I am not craving junk food or anything like that, just tons of healthy food :).

Well I finished doing my pics on Sunday for the MrGetBig. I would say they turned out...ok....not as good as I hoped for as tbh I think I messed up the final few days trying to get extra cut. Just felt really flat and I think it shows in my pics.

I tried to cut out the water etc and i just think I may have cut down too much as I really feel I looked better with more water in my body. I was drinking over 3 or so Gallons a day and pissing it out constantly, and i seemed to look quite sharp. Then I went to like 1/3 of a gallon or a bit less on my last day hoping to wake up extra cut...but I more woke up feeling dry and flat.

The other thing was with taking my pics, I was trying to get some sunlight and it was one of those days with 5 mins of sun followed by 20 min of rain and so on so forth (anyone that lives in Melbourne Australia will know exactly what i mean ;D), next time I will take them indoors so I can spend more time doing it. As it was I only got like 1 shot for some of my poses, just really stupid after all the work I put in with diet etc :-\.

All in all it was a learning Experience and I have taken away a ton from it. I will be doing the comp again next year and wanting to have a shot at top spot. With a full year of Bulking instead of 3 months I should be able to do some damage id say......Cant wait :).

And Oh man it is feeling good to be eating again ;D ;D ;D

Haven't posted in my thread for a while, but am getting right back into heavy lifting (heavy for me anyway ;D) Feels great with all the added carbs into the system, I'm not going overboard but just moved to something like 40%carbs 45%Protein 15%fat. Seems to feel quite good atm.

Man I'm really going hard on the wheels too, going to take a while but legs are my favorite day atm, love it ;D.
