Some people are gullible. Unbelievable how the media reports how it would cost taxpayers if Disney gave up their tax district and merged into Orange County. I have friends that work for Orange County, and they all know it would be a windfall for the residents.

Disney pays property taxes… to themselves.

Disney funds just 2 small fire stations that could not handle a moderate fire in any of their resort buildings.

Zero schools funded.

Zero permits to build.

Zero building inspections.

Zero zoning laws.

Zero impact fees.

Zero funding for dumping their waste water into the waterways.

Zero ride safety inspections.

Orange County provides schools, fire service, police, EMS ect for free

If they were merged into Orange County they would pay over a billion per year in property taxes alone.

And they’re coming mainly from NY. That said, I doubt it too many young people are moving down there. It’s primarily old wealthy people looking to escape the high tax rates, and retired government workers whose pension dollars go farther in Florida.

Disney may employ the largest number of people, but they are not the largest payroll in the state. The average salary is well under $15 per hour.

They do, however draw about 20 million tourists per year generating just under 300 mil in taxes. Those tourists spend a total of about 4b much of which goes to Disney, less than 1b to outside business.

Compare to the lottery. Last year over $9bil in sales $3bil in profit (money to the gov). Disney is big, but not irreplaceable.
