Ok, so not sure if this was an older program they replayed and this has already been talked about on these boards but did anyone see the TLC program last night-The Man Whose Arm Exploded????
Even being a natural competitor this program pissed me off from the very beginning. I "learned" that steroids are to blame for every physical problem one could have, even making your muscles explode. Gregg kept saying that his abuse of Steroids caused his bicep to explode, come on what are his motives in this. Does he need attention so badly that he will say whatever the program directors want so he can be on TV? I may be going out on a limb saying other bodybuiders have used massive amounts of steriods, but suprisingly I haven't heard of too many guys whose bodyparts have exploded from it.
The rest of the program was annoying too and this one bber (don't remember his name but his claim to fame was that he beat Arnold once and he was Mr. USA and was still natural at that point). Well this douch made sure everyone knew that he didn't "want" to take steroids but when in Europe with a friend was talked into it-against his better judgement-and became addicted. It was so sad and touching I almost cried. Meanwhile Gregg kept talking about how much steroids he has taken and sold and he even said with near certainty that any bodybuilder taking steroids starts dealing them also.
Maybe I just don't understand and you can all shed some light:) Anyway, the program pissed me off all night and I had to vent. Hope you all get the chance to watch it.

Valentino may very well have abused steroids, but that's not what caused his problem. Massive amounts of synthol and I do mean massive, are what helped contribute to this, along with him using dirty needles that caused several large abscess that had to be drained. He claims that his freakish arm size was only from site injecting basic steroids...I call bull-shit on that one. Take a look at him for yourself and see what you think.

I completely agree, it just made me mad he was making those claims. The bodybuilding world already gets enough negative press, I don't understand his motives.

Im disappointed that the ramblin freak would want to bring bad pub to the bb world in any way shape or form. I love reading his hilarious column each month...but yeh hes bullshittin the MAX if he says his arm size did NOT come from synthol.....theres no way his arms would look that stupid and disgusting without synthol USE

Well, people are listening to what he has to say. He doesnt hold anything back so it shouldnt come as any surprise he'll say whatever he likes about the test and injections as well. He's a celebrity now and people want to watch him on tv and read his column, so he feels he has to deliver to keep the interest going. Doesnt he say he never used synthol though?

I'm sure it is probably the synthol, but it could very well have been tons of gear in the arms, and delts as well. That should do the same thing over time.

No bro, AAS does not work that way. This guy's problem is from synthol and possibly implants, as well as poor sanitary habits.

Heard about this show for months, watched a bit last night between periods of the hockey game.
Does TLC not have fact checkers? Or are they just jumping on the anti steroid band wagon?
Steve Michalik never competed against Arnold as far as I know let alone beat him. He was Mr.America in 1972, Arnold was already a multi Universe and Olympia winner.
Oh well, I'm sure this will stop future users. Just like " Just say NO" and the DARE program. ::)

I don't know what he injected in his arms and delts...synthol, steroids, silicone, or all three. But why didn't he put some in his skinny forearms and toothpick legs? If his arms were the result of AAS and hard training, wouldn't his forearms have grown at least a little bit?

There are MANY people who use, have used, even severely ABUSED steroids and are Monsters (not to mention all muscle) compared to this guy. They have never had any exploding problems......... What a shit bag, as if the sport needs any more negative attention. Its typical media hype that broadcasts things like this with no scientific proof. Just guy who wants to make a name for himself. Question Greg.... So are we going to see a decrease in your synthol...dohh.. I mean steroid use now that your arm exploded?

I was pissed too. Its like it gives the media and govt. One more reason to say steroids are bad. The general public that saw that show will assume more that yep steroids are bad. Why didnt they say anything about synthol? I think its a plot by the fda and media to make the public believe certain things. Im sure he was paid some bucks for that show. And now he can make more money on blasting steroids even if hes still using them. The majority of people will take for granted anything the media or doctors say. A lot will also do whatever the doctor tells them without educating themselves and getting other opinions.
Look at what Hitler did. So many people blindly followed them because of the publicity suronding him.

The goof even had the nerve throw shots at some of the best bodybuilders out there such as Lee Priest. Priest would laugh him off the stage!

Here is my take on the show and GV. I agree , he is not much of a bodybuilder but rather a body-distorter.
I think that he definitly has some sort of body dysmorphic disorder after seeing him in the video.
The obvious reason I believe this ,is the crazy, distorted arms that don't match his physique.
Plus, when "posing" he kept covered his legs and chest, torso and took great care NOT to show anything but his amrs and delts, etc. Since he was posing and would NOT take off his short, ya gotta figure he is pretty insecure about his body overall. He is self absorbed cult figure with a small but dedicated following that admires this kind of oddball, get swoled kind of thing.The sad reality is that the guy had a decent , regional level physique at one time.
He would have blended in like many of us however and we would never even know who he is, had he not done such odd things.

What kills me is the way he actually thinks he can fool a serious bb into thinking that its all aas. I take it as an insult. Its almost like he's saying, "Ya these idiots will believe whatever I tell them". We all know its serious synthol abuse and nothing more. Check out the abcess he had removed out of his bicep on his site. His one arm really looks deformed.
