So, before you make crude comments, Maggie Lane is a good friend of mine. She has competed at a number of NPC competitions here in Southern California, as well as the NPC USAs and Nationals. But she comes from an opera background, and a few weeks ago, she took a risk, and auditioned for America's Got Talent... in a special way, that got the attention of the judges. Tonight, the audition aired on NBC!
Hopefully the audition will be on again soon (will add the link), but here are some stills from it on her performance.
It's called Bikini Opera, and most excellent of America's Got Talent to recognize her and put her up.

Saw this. What a unique idea. I wondered about the wrap-a-round dress which looked a little frumpy until it came off, then it made sense.

Oh, I get it, like the talent portion of a beauty pageant. Ok.
Perhaps it will catch on, and our sopranos can treat us to a front double bi during an operatic aria.

Her voice is outstanding on its own merit. She must be a classically trained opera singer. Good for her!

I admire her courage, congratulations to her for getting so far.
However is does sadden me that many classical singers seem to abandon their natural "envelope" and timbre in favor of manufacturing vibrato and a darker sound. People think 'opera' and they have one voice for women and one voice for men in mind, and that's not how it should be.

Not particularly overwhelmed by her voice/singing but I'd like to point out another aspect of her performance that hasn't been mentioned.
She looked like a carrot (her color).
I liked that.

Saw her last night. Very nice performance, clever to sing in her bikini.
