Title: Sergio Oliva - 1972 Olympia
Post by: Sergio Rules 77 on March 02, 2007, 01:39:53 AM
Here is the next batch of screenshots from my Sergio collection. This is Sergio's posing from arguably the most contriversial Olympia in history. This is without a doubt Sergio's best condition and IMO the greatest physique to ever grace planet earth. You will get a better idea of the condition Sergio presented with my screenshots from Sergio's posing in London, they will be posted shortly. ENJOY!!!!

And last but not least, here is a very rare photo of Sergio from the '72 Olympia. It doesn't get any better than this. Possibly my 2nd favourite pic of Sergio.

SERGIO!!!!

WOW wicked pic!!!!!!!!

I got that video too. :) It is funny to see when Sergio, Serge and Arnold posedown how they hide away from Sergio. Serge hits a pose and they all switch their own poses. Then Sergio starts to posedown faster and anything he does he looks unbelievable!!

Sergio should have NEVER lost this year... NEVER!

Personally, I thought Serge beat him in 75 too... Oh well.

I love Arnold as much as the next guy, but I think on this particular day, at this particular contest, Sergio should've won.

I believe the only thing that gave Arnold the edge was his presentation.

The absolute best condition Sergio got in to was not the day of the contest, where he was slightly smoother AND used too much oil. The all-time best Sergio condition was seen in the following shots taken in the days around but not during competition, in which he dried out. Still should have beaten Arnold that year though but it was still close enough that the decision was not a travesty. After '72 Arnold always made sure to be in top condition AND have a good tan.

In this shape, it's a coin-toss between Oliva & Arnold in their best-ever conditions. Who is better is just personal preference. IMO Arnold's '73 condition see here, and his condition in '74 were motivated by the possibility of Oliva's presence in the shows. Especially after the Mr. International situation in which Arnold sitting in the audience with Weider and Columbu declined Oliva's challenge to join him on stage in a more neutral setting than the Olympia allowed. Oliva never entered again against Arnold knowing he wouldn't be allowed to win.

I think it was always close, in any contest they were in or when at their best. Really just a matter of taste, no one clearly better.

Yup. Definitely crack or some shit. I mean, even Arnold himself thought Sergio was taking the title from him that year. If Arnold can admit it, why can't you?
