Bullshit, coaches aren't paid entirely by taxes.  In fact, the majority of their salary comes from revenue generation from the team.  HTH! ::)

Where would all of this money come from -- what endorsement deals would there be, what television fees would be collected -- if there were no taxpayer-funded university for the coach's team to play at?

In land grant universities, tax dollars account for less than 20 percent of budget.  The majority of revenue comes from tuition, fees, and sports.  All of these schools with the highest paid coaches would be just fine without the taxpayers.  They would still be the highest paid, even without the taxpayers.  Hope this helps.   :D
