Title: Lamest Finishing Move ever
Post by: LurkerNoMore on April 30, 2009, 08:59:02 AM
Is a toss up between :

Claw Hold (by anyone)
Tully's Slingshot Suplex
Ronnie Garvin's Hands of Stone Knock Out Punch

sharpshooter (think it was red rooster..not sure)
shake rattle and roll - Honky Tonk Man
pedigree - sure I know it's HHH and all but it's always been lame imo

The "Lou Thesz-Press."

It looked ridiculous when Austin did it…
And it looked a bit ridiculous when Lou did it (excuse me, Lou).

"Rock Bottom" (basically a shove) & "People's Elbow" (basically an elbow) top my list, though.

Who remembers the move that Paul Orndorff would do where he body slammed the guy in the middle of ring, bounced off the ropes... and then...

took two steps
shaking his knees together
another two steps
gesturing with his fists and fingers towards the ceiling
another two steps
knee knocking and hand gesturing increases
another two steps
looking upwards while doing the knee/hand thing
and then finished it off with a lame fist/forearm drop to the guy on the mat.

Swear to god it took a good 4 mins to complete all the hype and build up to such a lame move.

Are you sure about that? Paul Orndorff used a piledriver as a finisher.

"Nerve" holds in general are pretty lame because there's not much flash to them.

The sock got that move the biggest pop it could ever receive.

Kerry Von Erich's claw followed by tornado punch was weak.

Up until the early 80s, the abdomenal stretch and spinning toe hold actually WON TITLES for some wrestlers.  hahahahahahahahahaha

I'll second this one.  It and the 5 knuckle shuffle are 2 of the stupidest moves ever!!!!!!!

dino bravo's side suplex was retarded.

I mean, when Big Show does it, its great. but he's 450 pounds.

with bravo, it was nothing. should never have been a finisher for him.

Yeah, but this wasn't his finishing move.  (My bad) it was a set up spot for him.  Much like the 5 Knuckle Shuffle.  Just for a pop.  He did this in WCW.

Bob Backlunds cross faced chicken wing.

That means you have never had that move put on you. If done right it can break you collar bone.

I have to agree with the Claw and the Worm.

The only two guys that do the spear sickly are Goldberg & Batista. Rhino's gore comes close.

When Slaughter began his heel turn in '90, he would hold his thumb up to the crowd, then jam it into the temple of the guy on the mat until he tapped out.  Is that "the worm?"  Because it was painfully bad; so bad, in fact, that they changed his finisher after about two months.

Try pressing you knuckle into your temple.
It genuinely hurts, but you’re right.
Nerve holds generally suck. They’re non-dramatic, hard to see, and many people don’t understand them anyway.

And no, it’s not the same thing as the worm that Scotty used.

No, during the nineties Slaughter used the camel clutch. The thumb to the temble was his set up move. Once he turned face again he began using his cobra clutch finisher.
