Title: Kamali signs 700'000 dollar a year deal with Puma

"Bodybuilder King Kamali is on the cusp of signing one of the largest bodybuilding endorsement deals of all time, a PUMA official told Bodybuilding.com.

KingKamali.com reported over the weekend that the shoe and apparel company was ready to sign Kamali a New York resident to a 2 year deal "estimated to be worth in excess" of $1.4 million. That deal is however easily eclipsed by the five-year, $100 million deal Tiger Woods signed with Nike in 2000 and the seven-year, $90 million deal LeBron James signed with Nike in May of this year.

"We have a could have a very valuable partnership with King Kamali and we are excited about that," Puma spokesman Thomas Van Schaik said.

The report said that Kamali, who is a top level IFBB professional bodybuilder, would receive 1.4 million over two years would also get a "percentage of profits from the sale of sportswear and lucrative payments for promotional and PR work."

Last year, BSN Nutrition agreed to pay 8 time Mr Olympia a reported $4 million over a period of 3 years.

He asked me if I thought it was a good move to add Kamali to firm up their fitness market. I told them that the pickings are slim in bodybuilding and that other than Gunter, King was probably the smartest, best-looking, enthusiastic guy they could have found.

I actually think that past the "screw the haters" attitude King can be a good, interesting, and a good representation of the sport. Think about it, King is actually interesting and has some sort of a unique personality. Not only that but the style that is big is the hip-hop style. King can embody this well. I'm glad this is happening because it is actually good for the sport. I guess that mocking of his routine on VH-1 put him on the map.

If the real figure he's being paid had been reported I might agree, but I'm sure this is just another case of an insecure bodybuilder "pumping up" his numbers to make himself seem more significant than he really is. Good observation! I think Cormier will be representin FUBU and Verizon since the cell phone is a MAJOR piece of 'accessory' in the modern gym now.
