If superpowered humans started showing up in the population, do you think the reaction shown in the Xmen properties is a realistic representation of how the real world would react?

When I was a kid and teen, this is how I always felt. Even though the xmen have been my favorite superhero franchise for most of my life, I always thought that mutants being stigmatized and ostracized was unrealistic enough to take me out of certain stories. I've come around though. I think people would go crazy and be horrified. I've also noticed that the whole theme of super powered individuals being ostracized for their gifts has become a lot more common.

Kwon, I want you to conduct a poll from your basement to verify this. Yell upstairs to get your mom and dad's opinion, and then yell out the window to see what your neighbors have to say. This should be a pretty healthy sample size and you won't even have to get any fresh air or be exposed to sunlight.
