Eratosthenes did it with sun's shadows. At noon at the equator, a vertical building casts no shadow, but at the same time there is a larger and larger shadow the further a building is away from the equator. He also took into account the tilt of the earth's axis. Truly remarkable.

So strange that this is becoming a popular belief system. There are so many aspects of daily living that only make sense if the earth is round. There couldn't be a conspiracy because an elementary school student can prove the earth is round at their house with less than $50 worth of equipment.
It's funny that he uses driving cross country as an example because seeing an endless horizon while my parents were driving is one of the first things that got me to understand that the earth had to be round.

Not 100%, but pretty sure the idea is that a circle is flown just the same and that it's the readings which are questionable.
As for why a "conspiracy" might exist to cover "the truth" about a flat plane, it could be to cause people to deny Bible teachings. IDK, but anti-conspiracy types actually love that this one exists, so they can try to use it to dismiss all things related to "conspiracy".

It's possibly enhanced in some way... I always believe there's some chopping going on.
That said, there are so many photos showing the earth being round from different angles, that to believe it's flat is asinine.
Just get in a plane that goes overseas, and you can see the curvature from 35000 ft.

Here's something strange. The moon and the sun have a difference in size which mates with their distances from the earth (400x, I think). That's why the moon appears to be perfectly sized to block the sun exactly to its edges.

The earth appears round, but from some perspectives it can look flat. I grasp the confusion. In the end it's round, gravity is real and Jesus is dark-skinned with short hair and a beard like a person from the Arabian Peninsua and his appearance is nothing that would draw others to him...he wasn't super handsome or a physical specimen...he was an average looking man in that region of the world. Strange thing is he most likely had coloring and features like Osama bin Laden. That quickly covers the content of this thread. ;)

I'm not sure where this flat Earth stuff is coming from. The only explanation that makes sense to me is that, since our government is now blatantly lying about most things today, that one will just assume they are lying about everything, including the Apollo space program and the Earth being a sphere.
Given that, there is a very simple way to prove the Earth is indeed a sphere. Just look at flight schedules of airlines that fly between, say, Bueno Aires or Santiago and Sydney or Auckland. If the Earth was a disk like the flat Earthers believe it is, these flights would be impossible because they would take 30-40 to complete, several times the range of any commercial airliner.

Likewise, if you believe in flat Earth, it would be equally irrational to believe the plain is limited to the known Earth. There may be undiscovered continents complete with their own little suns orbiting overhead!

Roman emperors would also be depicted as holding on orb in their hand, which represented the world. Later a cross would be added to this orb and Kings would use it as well.
