I would pay 5+ for diesel right now.
We make our own and leads to about 3$/gal and we make 20mpg with the hummer and 35+mpg with the Jetta. :-* :-* :-*
Take about 45mins and I make 40gal in 48hours.

Either move to a major city with good public transportation like NYC where you don't need a car, or buy yourself a bicycle and start doing all your shopping at WalMart. No doubt times will be hard on the boulevard, homies.

In Europe 1.5€ / litre is about normal.
1€ is around 1.4$

What makes it diffucult is that our country is so broad. We didnt build the infrastructure to have a deli and other necessities close by our homes. We spread out and put the grocery store 15miles away...this will hurt us as we cant easily walk down the block for our laundry, work, and food.
We will pay the price for our huge bloated excessive materialistic lifestyles..... ;D

Suburbia in the last 25 years is terrible. Space is being used inefficiently. This doesn't have much to do with the price of oil but it's good nonetheless. :)

In Europe gas is heavily taxed because they have social programs that are beyond anything conceivable here in the US, more or less, depending on the country of course.
As a nation we're too fucking stupid. Beyond stupid I'd say.

Propably true. I bought my fiers car at the age of 28 when my daughter was born. I don't use car on/off work etc.
Price of gas doesn't bug me as much as the price of food.
Don't really mind about taxing gas, tobacco, alcohol but food should be cheaper!

Fucken government has a tax of 50 cents per litre on petrol and are refusing to lower it >:(
I get just over 140km for my $40 of petrol :'(
