they thought invading Iraq would be like a picnic. This is a very stupid lie they are telling their soldiers, what they are facing is a definite death.

Old news, Stark. The Royal Marines rode in on Apaches to rescue a fallen comrade from a Taliban stronghold in February:

You think that's a helicopter ?!?! you should check out the Russian Ka-50 'Werewolf'
now THAT's a helicopter! complete with dual main rotors, it can maneuver like a fighter plane, do loops, barrel rolls, etc. And has enough armament to take on a small country.

They have the airshow this weekend here in Hawaii.  The Thunderbirds have been practicing.  I remember when I had my condo in Honolulu on the 34th floor I would be out on my lanai and watch them come right in front of me.  It was unreal.  Those guys are so fucking awesome.  How many here have seen an airshow.  They are very inspirational.  As a kid my dad took us to Pt Magoo (?) airshow.  That is power.

Seen many and been in a few personally.

How many of you guys realize that a helicopter in Viet Nam was actually shot down by a bow and arrow? Or how difficult they were to lift off during hot and huimid weather. Or how fast they burn when a fire starts? Or how it feels during a "stop and go" or whatever they call it now-a-days? (Auto rotate sound familiar?)

Anyone here from the 101st Airborne? You guys saved my/our lives one day during a combat patrol and  it was customary in Nam to throw a party for all those involved in the rescue process. I don't know how the Aussies got involved but whenever there was word of free booz or beer in Nam, they would show up by the dozens in full combat gear with greased up faces - just like they stopped on by half way through a recon mission.

They were the biggest characters in Nam and were always expected and always welcome no matter how they got there. They would always have great combat stories as recently as "just this early morning". I'd listen hard but I never could understand a word they said.

That was one hell of a day. I'll complete this story later if there is any interest.

Much interest.

So long as the story doesn't involve famous people he knows or cars he's owned like all of Keith's stories seem to.  ;D
