I own my home, but if my government raises property tax to extortionist levels...then who knows what can happen.

Unfortunately, I don't see any roommate situation working.

I could at any time make $1,500 a month - $18,000 a year - from renting the spare rooms in my house...but no.

I just don't see it working out.

According to the listings for rooms to rent in Thunder Bay, you'd be lucky to get half that amount. Currently, a 1 bedroom apartment on average rents for less than $1,000 a month. However there are very few available rentals there which might drive rents up. Also according to Zillow, there are only a couple of houses for sale in Thunder Bay, ON.

You should have just and rent the whole place out and got a mortgage on a smaller/cheaper 2 bed apartment. Or just go move in with Bhanky or Prime.
