If there is a large gathering of (mostly) strangers and alcohol is being served, it is in your best interest to avoid being there. Or anywhere near it.

For me, even a family member or friend starting to drink beyond a point at a private get-together and I’m out.

Alcohol almost always results in something shitty happening.
