Historically, Mr Olympia is also blessed in the facial department.

No one can deny Jay or Ronnies good looks. And also going back we have this, look at Arnold! And Dorian wasn't too shabby, very masculine.

Is Phil Heath a trend breaker? He must be the least gifted Mr O ironically.

No homo, but most BB'ers are not good looking. A few have been: Jay, Dennis Newman, Zane, Arnold, Reg Park, Bob Paris, Mentor, Rusty Jeffers, Titus. Most of the rest were just weird looking dudes, likely why they became BBers.

Don't even play the angle that Phil is somehow attractive, he may have been ok looking playing hoops but winning the O he entered a level where the previous winners mostly have classic masculine features and attractive disposition

Any chances he had of looking good is cancelled by his nose who we all know is Phils claim to width

If you see these guys in person, you can see just how their faces look. Most have larger than normal heads and facial features. Dillett's forehead was huge.

The dominating ones aren't, they look pretty good. From Oliva, Arnold, Haney, Dorian, Jay and Ronnie, they have that it-factor

Sure, some years only the physique won but to be a dominating champ you need to "sway" the crowd (schmoes must want to mate with these guys)

The whole concept of bodybuilding competitions is based on subjective personal opinions, but I wouldn't deny 100% that judges might also be interested in a bodybuilder who also happens to have a marketable face to promote bodybuilding...

If the judges really cared about marketing then bodybuilding would look different. Honestly, how marketable is someone like Branch who won numerous Arnold's? Why not throw in some more stunning upsets like Gunter over Ronnie? I really don't have any faith that the IFBB knows how to market jack shit. Bodybuilding has an inherent influx of new fans by virtue of the fact that teenage boys want to gain muscle. They quickly grow out of it once they realize how trivial the "sport" is. Even Arnold, a face that the IFBB could never afford to hire, can do nothing to improve the image and promote the "sport" because of, likely, mismanagement at the very top.
