And most recently of all, a "Roman Toga Party" was held from which we have received more than two dozen reports of individual acts of perversion SO profound and disgusting that decorum prohibits listing them here.

3 WS in 95 years too.
It's amazing how Sox fans still think about NY even when their team in on the verge of winning the WS.

Chalk up another one for the good guys!

Naw, I love the rivalry. I'm in CT so there is such a mix of fans you always have friends who are Yankee's fans. You always like to rub it in, lord knows the opportunity's have been few and far between.

ha, yes. NYC/ NY Yankees occupy a huge space in Boston fans minds. As you said, even when they win, the first thing they think about is the NY Yankees.
Plus, NY Yankees still have about 27 World Series under their belts. Boston is not even half way there.

Did you know that Dean Wormer with the assistance of Jim Quinn tested John Blutarsky's bodyfat level and it was 0.0 The lowest ever tested.

Matching all the titles by the Yankees is never gonna happen that's for sure. I could also give a fuck about a bunch of titles won in the 50's and 60's, 20yrs before I was born. The NY teams that won in the 90's were great teams built by a solid farm system, if I remember right. They got away from that, just buying players. It's just a game to me either way. Worst to first!

I told you all year that bos was going to win the mlb ws
(i said against the lad though)
congrats walter

It's good that it's over. If there was another series, these guys would look like fucking ZZ Top at the end. Pedroia's wife probably doesn't recognize him with that mountain man shit on his face.
Do love playoff beards, but some of those guys have been growing them since June.

A good night ;D

i love the way colin cowherd keeps attacking Big papi Ortiz for his steroid use.
"So, you're going to get better than you were 5 years ago, and your name was on the mitchell report, but nobody wants to talk about it..."
He says that about 5 times every show.
-
They're all on something...whatever. You can have dudes juicing and on HGH and actually playing or all fucked up and on IR like the NFL this year.

"So, you're going to get better than you were 5 years ago, and your name was on the mitchell report, but nobody wants to talk about it..."
He says that about 5 times every show.
That's because there have recently been a couple articles by baseball writers trying to give Ortiz a pass, or questioning his cheating.
So the guy with the large weight gain from his rookie year, the dramatic increase in power, the one with ties Angel Presinal who has been tied to numerous steroid related issues, the guy who has put qualifiers in the press how he may have taken steroids unknowingly, who had mysterious heart papi-tations that sidelined him, who had resurgence of power/production at age 37, and oh, yeah - failed the drug test in 2003.
This is the guy people are giving the benefit of the doubt, while ARod and the others are vilified. Not to mention his on field outbursts, storming a manager's press conference because he was unhappy the way a hit was ruled.....
He just gets keeps getting a pass.

I'm glad I don't have to watch another game tomorrow it was wearing me out.
The stress from last night alone was enough.

Fuck the Roid Sox.

Only country to play in the league... calls it world series... muricans. lmfao.

Napoli claims he isn't cutting it at all and is going to let it keep growing all the way through next season. Other guys will do the charity beard cut thing...
-
Great season for both teams. I would have been happy for either team but was slightly pulling for the Cardinals just to avoid all that "winning the Series to bring the city together after the Marathon Tragedy" bullshit. ::)

I grew up in Boston and I was impressed with that Cards team and the Tigers! This Sox team has a lot of fighters and got timely hitting even though their hitting sucked in the playoffs. Also their bull pen was tough as nails.

Me being a Red Sox fan go the best laugh of course.

And Tiexiera/Granderson/ARod/Cervelli. Losing 5 starters for most of the year doesn't give a team a chance.

PROBLEM is tex is he going to be back 100 pct usual #s 30/35/120,granderson is goner possibly which disappoints me and they are salivating beltran ???...arod who knows, cervelli good catcher improving bat better than stewarts.still lotta questions

Yes, definitely lots of uncertainty, but can't write them off yet either.
Granderson may not be gone, though. I thought it was for certain, but now I'm not sold on it.

Amazing the amount of money people are throwing around about Jacoby Ellsbury...The guy isn't even really a 100m dollar man and some people are saying he could get upward of 150m from some sucker team. WTF

COULD YANKEE FANS EMBRACE ELLSBURY IF HE SIGNED,HE'S A VERY GOOD PLAYER HEALTHY,BUT HIS HISTORY IS SPOTTY AND YANKEES CANNOT AFFORD ANOTHER LARGE CONTRACT AND GUY ON DL.

I'm a Sox fan and to be honest, it wouldn't bother me one bit if Ellsbury was a Yankee...He's a pretty boy so the pinstripes would actually make sense for a player like him...He did basically nothing in the post season this year and was a total non factor on the base paths and the Sox still won it all. He can be fun to watch at times because he has the ability to make things happen. To me he would be a much better national league player where his speed on the base paths would really be seen as an asset...I also have a gut feeling that when he gets his big payday, he is going to miss a lot of time...

GMs are stupid. His out of context year really helped him appear to be more than he is.
But, I do believe Boston completely misdiagnosed his rib problems, and the team turned on him. I've thought he was gone ever since.
Fully expect the front office and fans to trash him after he's gone, either directly, or through leaks with their media shills.

TRUE...thing is he had mvp season and has been not the same player 2 yrs in a row, throwing 5/120 is nuts, and as a yankee fan i'm getting delirious with there team makeup, situations, luck lately.

Ya I agree. They will trash him...He's kind of put himself on an island when it comes to chemistry with other players. 3 players I wouldn't mind see go are Ellsbury, Buchholtz and Drew...And if they trade off Lackey while he get fetch some good young talent, i'd have no problem with that...

LACKEY has been a disappointment but came up big this yr playoffs for them.

To dump Lackey, they'll need to eat part of his contract. Buchholz is still cost controlled, so he'll stay. Drew and Ellsbury are FA and gone.

Lackey's contract is actually very good now...It's something like 15 million next year and the league min the year after that. So someone will get lackey for about 7 1/2 million per year for the next two. Sox put a clause in the contract that if he has an arm injury(which he had Tommy John last year), Lackey owes them an extra year at the league min(about 500K)...Right now teams would line up to take on Lackey for that price after the year he just had. His record says 10 wins 13 loses but Sox gave him almost no run support during a lot of his starts. He easily could have won 18 games this year...Totally redeemed himself...
Buchholtz is cost controlled but he's a total head case. The guy has some of the best stuff in the league but what good is it if he won't get on the field.

They don't have the depth to get rid of those 2, though.
Buchholz looks like the poster warning kids not to do meth.

lol...True about Buchholtz...The only way I would trade Lachey is if someone wanted to give some really good young talent. And if they do that, then I'd go all in for that Tanaka dude from Japan(24-0 this year :o)He looks to be the real McCoy. Although I'm sure the Sox will be gun shy after how it all went down with Matsuzaka. But they are in on him. But so are the Yankees and LA and possibly the Cubs...Might cost 60 million just to buy the rights to talk to him...
-

If the Yankees are rumored to be in on Tanaka, other teams may back off, since the posting fee could be ridiculous. They SHOULD have spent their money on Darvish, but this guy is not Igawa either.
Yankees have passed on some good International FAs like Cespedes, Chapman, Darvish, etc....guys who could be the next Matsui or El Duque for them.

it wasn't right after katrina...that year they lost the nfc title game...they won the sb 4 yrs later
the saints were bad from their first year 1967-1987 ... then they had good years and bad
they won their first sb when their franchise was 41 yrs old ... about the same age as the steelers' franchise when it won its first title

Don't be so sure about Drew. I have a feeling they may make him a solid offer.

Patriots after 9/11 bombing and coming out as a team when announced at the Super Bowl... ;)
-
I think they just extended or signed Drew...
I believe they offered Drew a qualifying offer(1yr. around 14m)...Teams do this with free agents they know will most likely test the market and possibly go elsewhere...If Drew turns down the offer and signs with someone else, Sox will get a draft pick for Drew...If Drew accepts the offer, the Sox are on the hook for the 14m...Which is more than Drew is worth and the Sox would probably try to get a better deal with a two year offer for Drew around the 22-25m mark. My guess is the Sox hope Drew signs with someone else and they get a pick...If they didn't offer Drew a qualifying offer and let Drew go, they wouldn't get a pick for him. Some team will probably give Drew a 3 or even 4 year deal. The guy is money in the field. I just don't think the Sox feel they actually need him at the type of contract he's probably going to get elsewhere...
