The mother of the teenage boy allegedly attacked by rapper Tony Yayo has blasted the G-Unit star for refusing to acknowledge responsibility for the incident.

Tony Yayo, real name Marvin Bernard, has been accused with smacking 14-year-old James Rosemond - son of Jimmy 'Henchman' Rosemond, head of rival hip-hop company Czar Entertainment - in a New York City street in March. Bernard refused a plea deal on Tuesday after he was offered a nine month jail sentence in exchange for pleading guilty to the assault.

Cynthia Reid, the boy's mother, is disgusted; "It is reprehensible that rap artist Tony Yayo continues to deny responsibility for assaulting, harassing and endangering the welfare of my 14-year-old son whom he senselessly battered in March."

"It was blatant and vicious and illustrates Yayo's negligence while proving that he considers himself above the law. It is also indicative of a larger pattern of behavior by entertainers that do not hold themselves accountable for being peaceful, respectful, and law abiding citizens. I am certain that justice will be served when Tony Yayo stands before a judge."

Bernard is currently free on $5,000 bail and is scheduled to return to court in September.

Hip-hop mogul Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter has appealed to a federal judge to drop a lawsuit accusing him of illegal wage practices. The star was sued by former 40/40 nightclub waitress Celeste Williams in May, who insists Carter and his business partner Juan Perez paid their staff below minimum wage.

But in court papers filed on Tuesday, Carter and Perez argue they are shareholders in the New York nightspot, and do not play any part in staffing issues.

Their lawyers suggest Carter was targeted because of his fame, arguing in court documents, "It may be plaintiffs named these individuals as defendants solely because Shawn Carter is a public figure and plaintiffs hoped to draw publicity to extract a quick settlement."

It continues that while Carter "is a Grammy Award-winning rapper and businessman who is of obvious interest to the media and the public" he is not "a statutory employer" and has "no role in payroll whatsoever".

NEW YORK (AP) - A court ruling has taken a bite out of DMX for failing to fulfill a contract to promote a clothing line for dogs including caps, scarves, raincoats and bomber jackets.

The 36-year-old rapper, whose real name is Earl Simmons, was ordered to pay a $242,000 judgment to Amusing Diversions Inc., a company that produced and marketed the canine clothing line, named for his dog Boomer 129.

''DMX, it appears, is known for his growl and bark and is called Pit Bull (which according to the evidence ... he has tattooed on his back),'' noted Manhattan state Supreme Court Justice Jane Goodman's ruling, announced Tuesday.

His longtime lawyer, Murray Richman, said he hadn't heard of the case and it was possible Simmons didn't have an attorney working on it. He said Simmons couldn't be reached for comment.

The business relationship got off to a good start but turned sour after Simmons failed to promote the merchandise on TV, at concerts and other public events as called for by the contract, and also publicized competitors, causing substantial damages to the plaintiff, the court said.

In the July 25 ruling, the court said Simmons had repeatedly ignored court proceedings and orders and that his attorney had been excused at the rapper's request.

Hip-hop mogul Jay-Z is counter-suing two former employees of his 40/40 nightclub, claiming one woman cost the venue $20,000 in damages. Jay-Z, aka Shawn Carter, and his sports bar The 40/40 Club filed their counter lawsuit in Manhattan federal court on Tuesday in response to a lost wages claim brought forward by former assistants Kishma Pickering and Sheron Branch.

Pickering and Branch claim their wages were unfairly cut and overtime taken away by the club's owners - allegations which have been strongly denied by Carter and his business partners.

Lawyers for Carter and The 40/40 Club say Branch was fired from her job after missing her Christmas shift in December 2006.

The suit alleges Branch "abandoned her employment... by failing to show up for work as scheduled, without calling in", according to the New York Post.

The legal papers go on to claim Branch used the club's passwords on social networking sites YouTube and MySpace to access their accounts and delete promotional videos, causing an estimated $20,000-worth of damage.

"Rapper Lil' Wayne faces a $1 million lawsuit after being accused of injuring a fan with a wad of money at a gig.

The hip-hop star - real name Dwayne Michael Carter Jr. - threw money into crowd during his performance at Morgan State University, Maryland last year.

Fan Tyrique Layne filed a lawsuit on Tuesday against Carter and his record label claiming she and two other women were hurt during the October concert.

Police considered charging Carter over the incident after it sparked a mini riot, however officials at Morgan State University opted to ban the star from the college campus permanently instead.

According to the suit, Layne has suffered headaches, memory, loss, fatigue and neck and back pain since the incident. "

Troubled rapper Foxy Brown has been isolated from her fellow inmates during her current stint in New York's Rikers Island prison. Brown, real name Inga Marchand, was jailed on August 22 by Manhattan Criminal Court Judge Melissa Jackson for violating probation from a 2006 assault conviction following her recent arrest for assaulting her neighbor and driving on a suspended license.

Newly-freed cellmates Teresa Pandolfo and Donolay Thomas claim the rapper was segregated from the rest of the prisoners and guards instructed people to stay away from her.

Pandolfo tells the New York Post, "Everyone who passes by looks at her - she's usually sleeping or reading her books. Her hair looks like whoever did it ran. That's how much the weave is coming apart."

Thomas adds, "She's alone all day, every day. They're just keeping her away from everybody. When other inmates yell to her, 'Hey, Foxy,' she'll just look up and wave. She's friendly, she's not uppity."

A spokesman for New York's Correction Department said Marchand was separated from her fellow inmates for security reasons.

The Candy star is expected to appear in court on September 7 for a hearing.

The rapper was sentenced to three years probation last year after she was found guilty of assaulting two manicurists in 2004. She was also arrested in Florida in February for battery and resisting arrest in a Pembroke Pines beauty store.

Rapper Eve is struggling to get used to her alcohol monitoring ankle bracelet. The hip-hop star was ordered to wear the SCRAM (Secure Continuous Remote Alcohol Monitoring) after striking a plea agreement for her DUI arrest in April. But she admits it has not been easy.

She explains, "I thought it was going to like a beeper, but it's like a pair of Bose headphones."

The mysterious white substance found during a raid of rapper/actor DMX's Arizona home was not an illegal narcotic, according to police. The hip-hop star/actor, real name Earl Simmons, was shocked to hear police had raided his Phoenix home last Friday and seized 12 distressed pit bulls terriers, who had no food or water.

Cops also found the buried remains of three other dogs, firearms, marijuana and the white substance, which they originally believed to be a drug. Local Sheriff Joe Arpaio said a "usable quality" of marijuana had been found in the building. Simmons' lawyer Murray Richman says he doesn't know who the cannabis belongs to and the rapper hasn't visited the home for over two months.

Simmons claims his caretaker Brad Blackwell was responsible for looking after the state and is devastated to hear of the dogs' health. Blackwell claims he told Simmons he could only care for these dogs for "just a couple of days", not the full period of the rapper's absence.

In the meanwhile, police have sent the three dog carcasses to Atlanta, Georgia for forensic testing to determine cause of death.

NEW YORK (AP) - Busta Rhymes has a new court date. A judge Wednesday postponed the rapper's trial until November after the prosecutor and the defense lawyer said they were not ready to begin.

Rhymes was ordered to appear in court Nov. 7 for hearings on charges of attacking two men, driving drunk and driving with a suspended license.

The 35-year-old hip-hop star (real name: Trevor Smith) has rejected a plea deal that would have given him a year in jail.

He is accused of beating a fan and kicking a former employee last year, and also faces charges of driving with a suspended license and driving drunk.

Rhymes, known for eye-catching outfits and an antic performance style, was dressed in a conservative medium-gray suit, a lighter gray shirt and a patterned gray tie during his court appearance. He left in a large SUV.

His hits include ''Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See,'' ''Dangerous'' and ''Touch It.'' He also has appeared in movies, including ''Shaft'' and ''Finding Forrester.''
