How can I loose weight? I always tell people the same thing stop drinking soda and eating junk food, and burn more calories than you eat... then they look at me like I'm retarded and say something like well I don't have time to work out everyday and I like soda too much... It's so simple but people don't want to hear that.  People are dumb.

its great when u actualy know the uncles aunties next door neighbour who is 6x bigger than you, and he's just a less than average gym rat, unfit to lace your shoes...

so when they ask you how to diet and then cut you down mid advice with ' big whats his name says all u need to do is drink 4 full fat pints of milk a day to build pure muscle etc etc, then hit you again with, i think YOU should start drinking more full fat milk'

then your lefty there open mouthed at whats just taken place!!!!

( u can exchange milk with rabits, ice cream, raw eggs  or training 3hrs per day etc etc )

Funny. While some people are looking to pack on muscle, some people are afraid of it.

Funny. While some people are looking to pack on muscle, some people are afraid of it.

I don't believe it's fear so much as a very convenient excuse.

"Oh, I don't want to get TOO big - that's the only reason I don't exercise."

As if...

Even if they knew how to train & eat, most of them would probably be lucky to put on 10 lbs. of muscle before quitting.
But they'll point to a picture of Jay and say, "I'm afraid of looking like that."

FFS.
You could never look like that even if you wanted to. ::)

If it all comes down to burn more calories than you eat, then why the need to completely stop eating junk food?

Lol I had almost the opposite; I moved the stack doing rows one day and the only other guy in there starts talking about how he used to juice and I need to work on my diet (he had a good lean 30 lbs on me and was at about the same strength as me.  I think he was out of practice)

It's always how much do you bench.  When I tell them I don't bench they just don't understand because lifting for them is bench and curls. If you mention poundage for anyother lift they don't have a clue.

My idiot wanted me to spot him on that VERTICAL CHEST PRESS so he can squeez out 1 rep of the stack I was using.

I am the same way.

Most of the strange or dumb questions i get are usually from co-workers or random people in public areas.

I had a young guy at my old job ask me how many years it took for me to get the size i was, when i replied with "over 10 years of consistant diet and training" he almost laughed and told me he didn't think it would take him that long to get to my size. Some people honestly think they can lift weights for a year and look like Arnold, and when i tell people all the years of training and dieting it took me to get where i was/am, they usually react with the old "i was your size in high school" or when i tell them how strong i was/am, i get the same thing "i used to bench 405 in high school/college" etc...cracks me up every time.

I've heard the majority of the comments in this thread at one point over the years. The old "i don't want to get too big" has to be one of the most common or when you tell someone you bench 365 or whatever they always claim they benched 10 pounds more in high school or something. Most women give the "but i don't want any ugly muscles" and after i explain to them how they won't build hardly any muscle due to the female hormone profile they still don't believe me and think they will look like a woman from American Gladiators after 6 months of cardio kickboxing.

But the absolute worst has to be "why?". i get this a lot. Why? Why do i lift weights, why do i eat healthy, why do i do cardio 4 days a week, why play racket ball, why lift weights at all? i usually reply with "why not"? People sit on their asses and drink beer with an extra large value meal while smoking cigs all day and i never ask them anything. it is like being healthy is a bad thing in our society today and people will almost condem you for it. When a 300 pound man who can't walk up a flight of stairs without breaking into heavy breathing and a sweat is asking me why i workout, i almost want to reply with "so i don't end up like you", but i'm kind enough to respect that person and their right to be fat and unhealthy, so i can just continue on being what i choose to be rather than what our failing society wants me to be.

Maybe if the SR citizens (over in the reserved area) washed  there funk areas it wouldn't smell like mildew. But you know that place well also. But if they made any upgrades, the price would rise and the crack addicts, 250 lb single moms and crips and bloods would have nowhere else to train.

"I don't do squats because I've bad knees" (they prefer hacks or smith machine squats with 1 plate)

I dislike people on the never-ending search for the magic pill (keyword never-ending)

"I can still beat ye' at arm rasslin"

"you're big but I bet I'm stonger"

"beat up my ex"

"I've got more farm strength"

"I bet you can't run as fast as me"

"have you ever heard of Jay Cutler, I think he's on steroids or something"

Have you been to THE MECCA lately? I haven't been there since 2002.  I am seriously thinking if going back.   Even if its 90 a month.

Anyone remember Dennis Wolf's encounter with a "fan"?  They asked him how much does he bench he answers...they say all that's all   my nephew is bigger than you and he can bench more. Dennis answers  "I'll look out for him at this years Olympia!"

"Can I borrow your toothbrush?" always gets me riled a bit. Especially when I happen to be using it at that time. Difficult to say, "NO!" though when she outweighs you by a hundred pounds or more.

Or the guy who trains at Gold's Venice in the morning and then sits by the beach in the afternoons holding a big sign asking for 'Pot Donations' and gets pissed off if you offer him less than a buck or two.

Where can I get me some of them steroids?

Can I get a trial membership?

Where can I buy an ECA stack?  I heard they make you swole.

Did you get fired from United HealthCare, or did you just quit without notice?  (question TA gets all the time)

Do you shave your head, or is it like that because of juicing??

And of course, some fat loser who hasn't enjoyed unpaid female companionship since the Carter administration trying to be funny and asking, "Hey, when do they let the pretty girls work out?"

Everyone knows a guy who has a brother that has an uncle who's cousins sister in-law is co-workers with a guy who's great grandfather is friends with a fella who's niece is married to a guy that's 4x your size. Even if this mystery person was 4x my size, how is this statement going to improve the conversation? I mean wtf do they expect you to say?

X2. Exactly, "When I was your age I was 250lbs ripped benchin 450 blah blah blah." It's like , No you were never as big as me neither was anyone you know now, go away and never waste my time again. What do you bench is always annoying but not that big a deal. Just lets you know they dont have a clue about bb. Not as bad as some clown sayin, "Yeah I was as big as you."

My buddy bought some bulk protein powder for me – it was the kind that came in a 10 lb., multi-colored foil bag.
I picked it up at his house while his Dad was there.
His Dad asked if it was steroids.

"How much do you lift"... and they don't even say the name of the exercise

"Are you strong"  who cares, I want to look big. I don't care about strenght or how much I weight. It's how I look what matters

To be honest, I try to avoid these idiots and not talk to people when at the gym. I'm all business and there to hit the weights, nothing more. I dont want to hear some guys life story of how he "used to be" this and that and what have you.

wear the same out fit to the gym for a few days. nobody will get around you :D

How can I loose weight? I always tell people the same thing stop drinking soda and eating junk food, and burn more calories than you eat... then they look at me like I'm retarded and say something like well I don't have time to work out everyday and I like soda too much... It's so simple but people don't want to hear that.  People are dumb.

peope are sooooooooo stupid, true dat

Why don't you guys just tell people how much you bench.  Surely you know how much you bench for whatever reps you use.  "I bench 225 for 12 reps" etc. etc.  It sounds like one of the most innocent questions someone could ask, no need to be shirty about it.

Two years ago I was 240 with abs. Then I worked a year of construction in the hot sun 12 hours a day 5 days a week. My body ached too much to hit the gym and I was eating like crap. I went down to 200 pretty damn fast.

Pretty sure its possible for people to be big at one point in their life and small later on.

Just sayin, stud ;)

Q. What's the best way to lose weight?

A. Eat less lardass.

Q. What do you mix whey protein with?

A. Half and half ( they jump back in horror at that one ;D)

Q. What's the best form of cardio?

A. Jerk off, but remember to switch hands!

I quit trying to answer people's questions. They don't believe you, even when you're telling the truth, so now I start talking pure shit. More fun that way!
