Title: For those who work or have worked in the supplement industry...
Post by: TheEgoCrusher on June 17, 2007, 09:10:54 PM
Now that I no longer work in the supplement industry, I figure I might as well help a few people out regarding ways to save money, avoid garbage, barter on price, etc., etc.

I think those that work in the industry should have a thread where we give people advice with an inside perspective.  How to avoid scams, what to listen to and what it really means from a salesperson, budgeting, etc.  A lot of you post incognito on here and have nothing to lose by giving up a few insider tips.  I have absolutely nothing to lose.

Before any of you start with the "supplements don't work" garbage, along with other juvenile BS, if you don't care about supplements or don't believe in them then just don't post in the thread or even read it.  It's pretty simple.  I'd like for this to be a serious thread where some of us can help others out a little bit in saving them money and preventing them from being scammed.

You all wouldn't believe how much useless information I've aquired regarding supplements.  Moreso than that, though, working in that industry for a long time enables one to see ways to work around the system to really save a LOT of money on product.

Anyways, anyone who is on board feel free to chime in.  Like I said, this is meant to be a serious thread and hopefully a helpful one to some.

Are some supplements spiked with real steroids?  I know the industry's regulatory agency...well...doesn't exist.

I'm glad you feel that way.  I too would like to prevent people from being scammed. Nearly ALL supplements are scams...  it's really only a matter of degree.  So if you don't want to be scammed, it's pretty simple...  don't use supplements.  All you need is a good diet anyway.

Hope this helps.

Gaspari (Sizeon) and Betencourt (awesome awesome creatine) have won my hearts by giving gifts.

I like Gaspari Nutrition's products too.  I had e-mailed them about a dozen times asking if I could work with them.  I asked if they could give me supplements for review.  Later I said I would even absorb 100% of their shipping and production costs and being a top affiliate with bodybuilding.com I knew I could help them increase sales.  Given that I was offering to absorb their costs and increase their sales, I don't see how they could refuse to work with me.  It was win-win.

No response.

Gaspari Nutrition has top quality products and I will be starting with SIZEON and SuperPump250 officially tomorrow.  I started last week for two days but quit because it was a busy week.  I did get pimples which I NEVER get - EVER - and know it was due directly to SIZEON because I have only gotten pimples twice since I was 18 and both while using SIZEON.

Big thanks to BODYBUILDING.COM for giving me the Gaspari products for review when Gaspari Nutrition failed me.  I am frankly kind of pissed off at the whole ordeal.  I went out of my way trying to promote a company I liked and no response for my efforts.  I have someone you want to have on the team.  I felt like having a meltdown similar to this one:

http://www.getbig.com/boards/index.php?topic=107421.0

Then I realized...The GN customer service reps are probably just too busy to deal with me.  For example, another rep from Gaspari even contacted ME initially asking if I would like a box or two of shaker bottles to give to my website visitors.  I responded saying I was definitely interested and got no response lol.  Obviously they get a lot of e-mails and have a hard time responding to everyone.

Based on my results I think SIZEON is one of the best mass builders in the world - hormonal or not.

I'll be chiming in with an extensive list of ways to save money later today.  I have a job interview at 9.  Have to hit the sack.  Just wanted to get some initial interest sparked and to see how many "know it alls" would chime in with the snide comments I knew would come.

Don't say Weider supps are bad.  Chic will be on here for sure.  Just say they are the best cause Weider cares and would never put things on the market unless they work even better than he says.

Whether a supplement work or not doesnt really matter. Placebo rules.

Also it's important to support the industry by buying supplements. Otherwise the PROs wont get paid.

And another thing, buy putting in a lot of money into companies they can use this money to research so in the future they might discover supplements that actually DO make a difference.

So buy more supplements, not less.

And to all people who says dont buy supplements? FUCK THEM HATERS.

Hiding while talking crap to someone you know off these boards is, well...everyone here can see it for themselves.  You're obviously very immature from reading your other posts as "Joey Tito" on here.  You sound like a 16-year old talking crap in your posts.  I hope to God you're not in your upper-20's or 30's.

Take a long look in the mirror...you may not like what you see.

If something will alter your hormone profile enough to make 'serious gains', it's illegal or by prescription only.
If it won't, then it's just nutrition, and the only upside is convenience (like protein powder).  Not hatin', convenience is nice, but I've never found any magical supp, creatine included.  Haven't used too many tho, so hopefully this thread will bear some fruit.

One of the first rules you learn when dealing with companies (ANY kind) it to use your phone and call them.
Emails aren't bad for second or third contact, but usually you'll have to follow up by phone too.

I weighed 207  at 5'11" yesterday on the scales at the West Rush here in Knoxville.  I could see veins all over my body, striations in my quads, shoulders and tris...how about you?

Because "egocrusher" is an insecure alcoholic who has wasted the last two years of his life drinking himself to death instead of training seriously (true story).

Such a big man to hide behind a keyboard...

Never quit training seriously (which is why you are still jealous of how I look.  Pretty sad, actually, when someone who had an alcohol problem for 2 years whipes the floor with you...).  No where near death.

You obvious know who I am and probably work out at the same gym.  Run your mouth to me in person.  Everyone on here can see you hiding behind a keyboard, but, the worst part is that YOU know you have to hide behind a keyboard.  People who don't really know people outside of the  internet shouldn't tell others about them.  Your source is just as cowardly as you.  Since you and me both know you won't do this, hide in the shadows.  I'll live in the light.

Matt, I have to deal with guys like this guy all the time locally.  I get more hate than you can possibly imagine because I DON'T use.  Guys that do and are inferior get jealous as hell.  I have to deal with it constantly.  It's very annoying, actually.

LOL!  When you can type 100 words per minute, relaying a message to someone like you on this board isn't such a chore.

Additionally, I suggest you try not to act like you actually know everything about someone by reading posts they've made over the months on a message board.  Not a good idea, but a rocket scientist you aren't.

BTW, HIT THE SQUAT RACK!!!

only things you will ever need are
protein- a good one, cheaper is not better! concentrate should never be the 1st ingrediant (you'll shit yourself)
glutamine- very debated but, important IMO.
multi vitamin- try a liquid one, you will feel it
fat- (Omega 3) or blended fat mix like 369 ....especially if low carb!
Egg whites- i buy by the gallon, makes life way easier.

The rest is found at the grocery store.

What about someone who isn't competing?  I guess you feel that they don't count.....

Why are drugs always the answer for guys like you, gh?  You do realize that you are part of the problem rather than any movement towards solution.  The guts just keep getting bigger, the waists keep getting wider and the physiques keep getting worse.

muscles are build by hormones... millions of years of evolution have primed us to respond to testosterone, GH and insulin as the muscle-building triggers. that is the reality. wake up. hormones are not a problem... they are as natural to our bodies as it can be.

I have been using the "vitargo" a product basically the same... starch powders work great.

Here is what I do PW:

43 grams Maltodex.
30 grams Whey
10 grams BCAA's
5 gams Ethyl Ester Creatine
10 grams Glutamine

1 hour later 75 grams of brown carbs( rice, sweet pot, etc..) and 40 grams of whole food protein.

I have noticed that I recover REALLY fast.  Befoe the flames start, I DO NOT pay for ANYTHING of said listed product's   ;D

I have the SNAC brand ZMA that was a freebie at Milos' seminar :D

works well I suppose(never tried it before this) it has:

zinc 30mg
magnesium apartate 450mg
vit b6 10.5mg

I'm not sure which one makes you drowsy, but I have taken zinc supp. alone and don't remember feeling drowsy. I know if I take a full dose, I have a hell of a time waking up. if I take half dose it is much better. Sleep like a log. ;D

Soooooo...what happened to the insider info????

I can add what I can. The dirt I've come across:

1> Back in 99-2000, the suppl company Biotest was starting up and had an awesome fat burner, I think it was called T3, it actually did have the real prescription thyroid drug in it in some %.

2> The company known as Protein Factory which sells direct, custom mixtures and some other basic suppl was exposed as a side business of someone in NJ who runs a wholesale feed/pet food store. The 2 "companies" share the same space dog food goes in one bag, protein powder goes in the next  :o

3> Most of the creatine ethyl ester brands were either just regular creatine or some sort of mix for the first 6 months or so they were on the market. Some still are.

4>Most first run prohormones/prosteroids like M1T, superdrol, etc that have been out in the past couple years are waaaaay off on the content. It usually takes the chem houses that make these overseas several runs to get an accurate compound in the correct quantities. Supplement companies dont usually do their own product testing for QA, and with these pro-hormones that are fresh on the market don't even have a chemical standard to test against in the first place. IOW, no one knows if they got the ingredient right because there's no way to test it.

The trouble with all these supplements is that when they get on the market, it is presented as the next best thing that will do wonders on your strength and physique.

I only take whey protein, and in the past occasionally creatine and/or glutamine. Also a good multi-vitamin product. Some people say adding vitamins to your diet is worthless, but you can never be sure.

Any supplement you take is completely worthless if you don't eat properly. It's not called a supplement for nothing.

I'm still waiting on the secret inside info about the industry. It needs to be revealed.   ::)

Is this some kind of joke?  That (working in that industry) is all I did for almost 7 years and I was one of the best in the country at it.  I'm not through with my previous employer, however, meaning I can't really say much right now.  Mum's the word.
