damn those are some freaky legs...... Nobody was even close to that back then. Platz was tight. That leg shot is freaky.

legs, as always, unbelievable, but his upper body really does pale by comparison. it's like the legs just ate everything up. pity.
he's also not shredded which has not helped his cause. if he had less water his physique would have looked more freaky overall, probably more balanced too because the waist and legs would have come down a bit and the all important abs would have tied everything together better.

but nowhere near as impressive from every angle like Platz's were, Tom also had that freaky development at the top of the leg where it ties in to the hip that no one seems to have.

I can't believe how much mass was added on by 1986! It's a shame that his bicep never got better even years after his injury. What a nightmare!

I'm glad you guys liked the Tom Platz video I uploaded to YouTube. Since there is talk about great quads and calves in this thread check out this other video I uploaded of Roger Stewart. He's got some great quads and some really sick calves. Not massive but very impressive.

Shadow and Hulkster must be the heads of the Coleman Fan Club. Cause Platz's leg blow Colemans away. Coleman has NO calves. And Platzs leg measurement I am is bigger than Ronnies and if not then maybe less than an inch. And considering Coleman outweighs Platz by 50 lbs or so. Platz kills Coleman. Nuff said, next.

exactly right and not only is it the size but Platz had muscles where everybody else including Coleman didn't have it, it looked like his quads inserted halfway up his stomach, freakish.

Tom is a great guy.Another old time live for BB guy.Had is on days and had his off days but was a great guy.IFBB screwed him by giving 81 Olympia to Franco.Franco was a friend also but did not deserve the 81 Olympia.IMO.

I agree, maybe if franco brought a pair of legs to the show, then it could be a bit more debatable, but as history has it now, i don't think he should have won.

Ronnie's legs are crap compared to Platz. Ronnies legs usually have no seperation or cross striations and his calves suck compared to his Quads. Platz is the leg king.

platz also has some of th best calves ever to go with the quads/ hams.

After all these years and with all the huge cycles pros are on, we still have yet to see legs as impressive as those?! :o

platz wasn't balanced. that fact alone precludes him from being the best built man on the planet.
i'm not just talking a torn bicep or something. his entire upper body was a completely different animal to his lower body.
i don't think franco deserved his win, but as poor as his legs were when compared to platz they weren't COMPLETELY out of sync with his upper body.
if you ONLY look at legs then he can be compared with ronnie, but if you're looking at the whole ie what they look at in a body building contest, then there is zero comparison. ronnie would blow him off the stage, sorry.
apart from that platz was NEVER in the same condition as ronnie. as for the video clip, as impressive as it is (and it is) he wasn't in contest shape.

yes have to agree to beast.
probably the best pair of legs of all time however combined with an upper body that wouldnt be top 15 in the nationals today leads to one of the misbalanced physiques ever.
platz's waist was larger than cutlers yet he has about half the mass (upper body wise).
Again I reiterate that I think his legs are the greatest of all time however his upper body (comparitively) is very poor.
