I was wondering what styles are most appealing. I know that much of it depends on the guy himself. But as for clothing style, suit vs. jeans & sweater etc
-
Hmmm... that's a hard question. Like you said it depends on the guy himself, a confident guy can pull off wearing jeans & a sweater just as well as a suit. Overall I'm a more casual girl myself... a good pair of broken in jeans on the right butt can be a wonderful thing ;D however a cleaned up guy in a well tailored suit is nothing to sneeze at. Gee... I guess I don't have a preference :-\ but I will say that I can't stand the whole having my jeans falling off my ass, boxers hanging out, extremely oversized shirt look - bleh!
-
that rules out the ghetto-fab look i wanted
-
Yeah, I suggest you pass on that.
-
what the hell am i gonna do with all the wide brim baseball hats i biought?
-
Sounds like Ebay is gonna be your friend! ;D
-
lol
-
I gotta echo what mish said. Give me an all round guy anyday. Me - I'm comfortable in anything from jeans and sneakers to a full length evening gown, ...so I'd want a guy who could hang in any situation.
But ghetto fab doesn't do it for me in the least. I'd like to be able to dress him up AND take him out. ;D
-
I get well dressed for work, when im not working it jeans for all events!! >:(
-
As you say, much of it depends on the guy, and pretty much anything goes. Except for the professional wardrobe. Nothing worse than a shiny tie... or the suit that you know has a label sewn on the inside which reads R-Mani.

agree... also dress shirts w/casual pants. But NEVER a short sleeve dress shirt and a tie.
Oh, and make sure when you go home after work, you only wear boxers, dark socks and a white tee-shirt. ;D
-
Lol STella...
Also fetching is the nehru collar shirt or jacket. Very bohemian.
-
How bout a dude wearing a hoodie with a blazer over it ??
-
i was curious as i normally wear jeans and a t-shirt or shorts when i bum around. If i go out usually khakis and a polo shirt or long sleeve depeneding on the situation. Just feel like changing up some of my style. Not into the super hip trendy clothes. I like more the classy, clean line suits or slacks. is there a problem with slacks and a nice sweater or is that to Mr. Rogerish?

Never call them slacks. Think trousers. Then everything will fall into place. :)

um why is that? Arent they the smae thing? Or by calling them slacks, i make myself sound like a grandpa?
-
Slacks are usually made of shiny material and get horrible creases in the crotch area. And yes, the word is grandpa sounding. When buying dress pants, think Brit, not American. ;)
-
ok maybe a stupid question. What's the difference between Brit & american. Other than the funny accent, bad food, and dental care? :) I was thinking about getting a grey wool pair of trousers with a thin pin stripe. Yay or Nay? I'm a guy ad need fashion help! No queer eye please, lol
-
On a female, I love looking at legs. So anything short is sweet:)

Not really a fan of the pin stripe myself. I hope you're talking about an extremely dark grey. :-\
Probably the best thing to do is go to a really good guy shoppe in Atlanta and let someone fix you up. Also, as always, better to spend more on less, rather than less on more.

still need the explanation of brit vs american in terms of clothing my lovely muse
-
Even as a kid, I've just always had to wear what fits, and try to make it look good. lol I remember I was so happy when Levi's came out with their silver tab brand (relaxed fit in the thighs), because I no longer had to buy jeans that were 2 sizes to big in the waist and have them taken in. :P

If you have a men's warehouse(store) in your area, let them help you. They are great at helping you with your style whether it's a suit, evening wear or casual. They will help you match everything, including ties and shoes.
I'm originally from the ghetto, so when I see a guy in a velour sweat suit or loose jeans with untucked shirt I likes...
Never did enjoy the jeans hanging off the butt. It's a throwback people being in prison. Not allowed to have belts, so your pants hung off.

are light grey pants that bad?
-
No... but with a pinstripe you definitely want to stick with a darker grey (i.e. charcoal), it just looks better.
-
ah ok

And Miggy, regardless of what they tell you, Joey Tribiani was right, ...that is how they measure pants :P

Men's Warehouse is one of only two men's clothing/suit shops that I've walked into were the sales people didn't see me come through the door and run like mad. Now, I've had to pay for my slacks and suits, but they fit me and they last me a long time. I just recently went to my 20-yr high school reunion, and I was able to get a suit I bought from MW taken in (basically had to re-make the suit) for free! Made me feel really good that I spent my money there.
-
Migs, I have a fantastic British tailor here in NY. I couldn't accurately tell you the difference per se, but my suits fit wonderfully, which is no easy feat at 5'4", 215 lbs and a 31"ish waist.
Deedee, you don't like my pinstripes?
-
silver tabs are very comfortable. I just don't wear jeans anymore

I'd run at the sight of a huge black dude headin for me too Colossus ;)
-
in ladies, there is nothing (for me) more sexy then a pair of faded jeans or jean shorts and a white t shirt and white keds (reminds me of summer, pony tail and tunes blasting.)
For me I always feel I look the best in a nice dress shirt and tie or suit. I also feel (and have been told) I look good in jeans and a nice shirt.
I think for me either male or femal I like someone to be comfortable and causual.
oh and anytime a girl gets naked works great also... ;D
-
I tend to agree with most everyone that has posted on here. A lot depends on the person and their body type. My boyfriend looks fantastic in jeans but looks out of place in a suit. But put him in dockers and a mock turtle knit shirt and sports jacket and he looks great. Now my ex looked great in suits and especially in tuxes - he was ok in jeans.
