The Middle East has been a 'powder keg' for as long as I can remember... at least since 1948 when Israel declared its independence. Today, Israeli President Isaac Herzog and his advisors are on the verge of starting WWIII.

Yes it has pretty much been a volatile place for as long as I can remember too.  But it has not always been on the verge of all out war. 

No Israel is not on the verge of starting WWIII.  They are defending themselves from terrorist attacks.  They are fighting for their survival.  One of my friends who lives in Israel just sent me video of the drone attacks from her balcony.  They have a "safe room."  Imagine sitting in your living room and having to worry about a foreign country dropping bombs in your neighborhood trying to kill you.  That is the existence for many Israelis.

It is difficult for me to accurately imagine such an attack because I have never experienced one. The closest in person reference I would have of is when I lived in West Berlin, Germany with my aunt and uncle in 1949 when I was 4 years old. And to be honest, I do not remember seeing bombed out buildings. It is possible  that they protected me from seeing the destruction or my memory of it has faded over the past 75 years.

Israel was likely created where it is to ensure ongoing conflict
as it was a certainty there would be no lasting peace.

I'd say it's a high probability if there is a 3rd WW it will start
around there & Israel will be a precursor.
