Title: Question for the bodybuilders out there
Post by: Brnjezzo on December 04, 2005, 05:43:39 AM
Guys,

I have watched many dvd's and videos of the various pros out there.
The thing that surprised me is that they never eat any bread only meat, potatoes, rice and vegetables.

Can anybody tell me wether bread is or is not good nutrition for bodybuilders as I always enjoy eating bread with chicken.

Thanks in advance

From my own experience bread makes you fat.  Plus it provides very little protein and is very caloric dense.

White bread causes initial high insulin spikes which in turn stores fat.  Try whole wheat if you need bread.

Didn't Arnold used to eat a lot of sandwiches during his competing days?

But admittedly that was a generation ago and the guys today look nothing like they did back then.

Still and all I'd rather look like the guys from Arnold's era.

Just saying, is all.

Yes..........for instance, Natural Ovens.  The "Hunger Filler" type has 60 calories, 1 g. fat, 4 g. fiber, 4 g. protein and 13 carbs per slice.

I was allowed to eat this the first 7 weeks of my 10 week diet for a show.

yes arnold did eat crap load of peanut butter sandwiches. but he also put powder milk with liqid milk as a "protein shake" but bread can really blow you up in the bad way..

when pros make there videos, they're precontest or when they look the best. but  i've seen some offseason bulk up diets in  M&F and they eat like four slices of whole wheat toast in the morning.

I eat no bread and no milk. Bread makes me fat and milk makes my skin thick. I get all the calcium i need from broccoli and spinach

Generally it doesn't matter THAT much.  I have a sandwich from time to time, usually when i'm on the road and traveling and don't have time for anything else.  I always get a whole wheat or rye or sourdough bread and plenty of meat, though.

Eat "Ezekiel 4:9® Organic Sprouted Grain".  It consists of organic sprouted wheat, organic sprouted barley, organic sprouted millet, malted barley, orgaic sprouted lentils, organic sprouted soybeans, organic sprouted spelt, filtered water, fresh yeast, and sea salt. Each slice contains 0.5 grams of fat, of which none is saturated, 15 grams of carbohydrate, of which 3 grams are fiber, and 4 grams of protein.
